2 tenders with fries

Tenders were very fresh and made to order but their medium and hot spice levels have no flavor other than just straight heat. Fries had a great texture but they were room temp. Staff is friendly and helpful. At $17 for 2 tenders and fries (no drink), there's so many actual well-known established Nashville spots with cheaper prices and better flavors (Dave's, Howlin Rays, etc). They also charge $1 per ketchup, which I've never seen anywhere in my life lol. Their "seasoned fries" are misleading as that normally refers to seasoning salt (Lawry's, etc), not their hot chicken seasoning. So their seasoned fries are somewhat spicy. Might be back to try their burger but even that's pricey just because it's Wagyu. People don't realize that Wagyu serves no purpose once you ground the meat. The whole point of Wagyu is to leave it whole so there's fat rendered into big steak cuts. Once you ground it up, it's equivalent to any high fat ground beef. Great staff and atmosphere, but in my opinion there's some improvements to be made if they want to last long-term.

I've been to Cluck & Smash three times this February. The first time was for lunch on Monday, February 9th, the second time was for dinner on Saturday, February 14th, and the third time was tonight. Tonight, I ordered all the burgers to go because I had my niece's performance to attend. On February 9th and February 14th, I dined at the restaurant. Their Wagyu beef burger is absolutely delicious, and the French fries are incredibly crispy and tasty. Also, every time I've visited, all of the staff have been consistently kind and friendly, which makes the experience even better. I usually get tired of eating the same food repeatedly and don't go to the same place often. So the fact that I came to the same restaurant three times in one month truly says how exceptionally good the food is, in my opinion.

I found out about this place a few weeks ago from a Yelp Elite event and absolutely loved it and had to come back and try some of their other items. They have a lot of different breakfast burritos and lunch burritos that have either chicken or wagyu patty in it, depending on which one you order. I wanted to try the Nashville Mac Attack, which included mac and cheese and a chicken tender for about $12 - honestly if you order the tender and mac and cheese separately, I think it would've been more expensive and I love the flavors together. The mac and cheese made the burrito really creamy and added a whole nother level to the chicken tender. 10/10. I also wanted to try their fried pickles. These are okay. I don't think I would get it again because they are actually too crunchy and too fried, in my opinion. It is flavored and seasoned well though. The service here is good and the workers have been very nice every time. Service is a bit on the slower end and it took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive but I liked how they brought the tray of food out to my table.

Up here from Oside!!! on a work trip and someone told me about this place so of course I had to come check it out. Place was nice and clean looks like a cool spot. Got the Wagyu double smash burger with fires and an order of chicken wings to go. Burger did not disappoint, nice and smashed lol and it tasted good. Chicken wings were nice and crispy how I like em. Next time I'm up here I'll definitely stop back by!

I've been coming here for their chicken sandwiches since it was Cluck & Blaze so when I saw they were converting to Cluck & Smash, I was ecstatic because I love a good smash burger. So I popped in to give it a try with a friend. We just happened to be in the area and since we weren't very hungry, we decided to split a Double-Double Wagyu Burger combo, which came with a drink and fries. I've had wagyu beef before and was impressed with its tender buttery texture so I was excited to see how it translated into a burger. When the meal arrived, I was a bit taken aback by the small size of the burger itself. Mind you, smash burgers aren't known to be large, but I expected more. The photo promised one thing and I got another. It immediately reminded me of the big fast food burger chains that show you photos of these gorgeous burgers piled high with ingredients and dripping in sauce. I got a rather flattened interpretation I suppose, more like a smushed burger than a smash burger. The carton also contained a rather sizable portion of seasoned fries. The burger, while tasty flavor wise, was a letdown. I was expecting some fatty, tender patties of wagyu but got chewy beef instead. It was nothing like the outstanding flavorful, tender beef patties you get at Proudly Serving or For The Win. And there was no crispy halo around the patties, another signature of a great smash burger. The fries were pretty good, but be forewarned that they use Cajun seasoning, not your usual seasoning salt. Thankfully they still have their chicken sandwiches on the menu and I'll be back for those. But I'll take a hard pass on the smash burgers, especially since For The Win is nearby.

Seasoned Fries
Ysabelle A.

Starting off, the fries were arguably the crispiest fries I've ever had without ruining the softness of the potato inside. They were also seasoned amazingly. The Wagyu burger was also very yummy. I loved how crispy yet tender the meat was. You can really taste the quality of the meat here apart from other smash burger places. The grilled onions were perfectly cooked and portioned too. For the chicken sando, I got the buffalo butter which was not too tangy. The chicken was also extremely crispy despite the amount of sauce it was drenched in. The buns were also unique because it was connected like a hot dog bun. Our server was also very sweet and helpful when helping us pick flavor for the chicken sandwich.

Single smash
Vee P.

I got a single smash burger and it was perfectly cooked with lacey edges and a juicy center. The only change I would make is less sauce as there was a lot of it hiding under the bun and it was overpowering. I also got to try the fries and the mango habanero chicken sandwich and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches in terms of size and flavor. The fries were coated and seasoned, and were also really good and not too salty. Kirshen (sp?) helped us and he was friendly and efficient. The location is right at the corner but parking at the grocery next door made it easy to get in and out of. Definitely worth a try!

This spot is a hidden gem! The burgers are cooked to perfection juicy, flavorful, and with that crispy, caramelized edge only a true smash burger has. You can tell they use quality ingredients because the patties taste fresh, and the buns hold everything together without getting soggy. The fries are golden and seasoned just right, and the staff is super friendly and fast. Whether you're grabbing lunch on the go or sitting down for a casual meal, it hits every time. Definitely coming back this might be my new favorite burger place in town!

1st time eating here. I ordered the single burger, no pickles and sauce. The burger was very good, the restaurant was clean and the restroom too. I recommend eating here.

Yelp Cliff Notes: In a saturated nashville hot chicken sandwich market, cluck and smash delivers! Yelp Unabridged Version: I used to frequent cluck and blaze, the previous restaurant, all the time. Inconsistency of food and mediocre customer service, made me less inclined to dine there over the years. So much so, that I had a bias and would not try the new restaurant with a similar name. Boy am I glad I did. This restaurant is bomb.com. From the structurally sound split top bun that won't allow a single coleslaw slice to slip out of your grip to the perfect diversity of menu, it sets this restaurant apart. No where can you get wagyu smash burgers, wings, Nashville hot chicken, decadent corn, AND reputable healthy offerings for a reasonable price. Don't be chicken. Stop by :D

Extra well done burger, crispy seasoned fries.

The food here is flavorful and filling. Extra well done burger and crispy seasoned fries combo is my usual; it's consistently great. The crispy seasoned fries are the best in the area. Friendly and considerate customer service by all employees I have interacted with. The background music has also improved as of my latest visit, which is a bonus, especially for those who like a nice vibe/environment to hang out with friends. Appreciate having such a quality burger option within walking distance.

Really good burgers bro, the man at the counter, Manny (I hope I spelled that right) as he told me to call him by, was incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining to me the menu. Ordered the Triple-Triple Wagyu burger and my goodness, it was VERY juicy and succulent, with a good amount (but not overwhelming) of grease. The cheese was nicely melted. Burger was realy filling. The seasoned fries, dang that was good. Fresh, tasty, and goes well with the ketchup and their sauces. Oh, not to mention the fried chicken sandwich. Juicy, tender, and tastes like Nashville alright. The interior is so chill and easygoing. This place cooked 10/10 shud def try.

WHEN: Tue @7pm…read more Located in a small plaza, while there is free parking, it's also quite limited with it being share with other business establishments. However, since we came at night time where most of them were closed, we got parking right in front. This spot is more of a take-away place, with 6 counter seatings indoors, and maybe 3 chairs right out front. This tiny burger spot seems to be run by just one person, so it helps that you can self-order at their kiosk. He was very attentive juggling between cooking the made-to order items, and check in on the costumers in case they had questions. After placing my order at their one device, it was roughly a 15 minutes wait. Here's what we ordered: CHEESEBURGER - $9.90 High-quality beef patty smashed with grilled onions, serviced on a toasted Martin's potato bun and topped with pickles and their fry sauce. I really enjoyed this rich tasting burger. I think that fry sauce was a huge factor...but also that soft bun...and that flavorful beef patty. I really enjoyed this. FRIES - $5.25 Golden Thing-Cut Fries. Perfect. I mean this was made to order so they were warm, crispy and so dang good! It's how fries everywhere should be! I was hoping to come back during my trip in LA, but it's okay, it won't be the last time I visit.

The crispy lace edges, the juicy center, the grilled onion, the slightly spicy sauce, the slightly sweet bun...all dreamworthy! Their sweet potato fries aren't all that great to look at, but omg, always perfectly cooked and salted! Perfectly complimented with the fry sauce. All that said, we were disappointed when we received our last order: 1. Packaging change (paper wrapped instead of cardboard box for the burgers) robbed the craveable edges of their crispness. Plus there was so much grease on the paper wraps it actually made it messier to eat than before. 2. The sauce has changed. The spice level increased (still not too spicy), but a side of sauce (which you pay more than a $1 for) is now sent in a premade branded packet. I have zero issues paying extra for a good sauce made fresh in-house, but instead of tasting like a fresh sauce made with mayo and spices, it now tastes of oil and spices and is not nearly as tasty. We noticed the difference on the burgers as well, so it seems like their sauce is all premade now and not nearly as good.

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I found a spot in the large public lot directly above the restaurant off of Florencita Dr. Otherwise, there were metered spots along the main drag of Honolulu Ave. and all surrounding side streets- 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A packed layout filled with tables inside and along the front sidewalk, the decor was as if grandmothers united and gave it a country farm house appeal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=HWq31BkepPCR8uWcUf4Gtw with odds-and-ends and knickknacks. A minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the front glass windows and doors while a mix of recessed and track electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

While the chili is tasty and the service is excellent--the cashier was genuinely dedicated to guest satisfaction, and the food comes out hot and made-to-order in 5-10 minutes--it lacks the signature experience of the real OG Original Tommy's. Not huge at all and for the price, therefore not a good value. I spent $24 for the Chilicheese bruger combo with $1 upcharge for a bottled drink. The burger itself was decent, but they are way too tight with the chili portions compared to Tommy's, and the shoestring fries don't hold the chili nearly as well as the thicker-cut fries. I also found the specific combination of pickles, onions, and mustard on a Tommy's burger to be superior. The setting is purely a walk-up window with four outdoor benches, so it lacks the atmosphere of a traditional dine-in experience. Street parking during around 2pm on weekday was no problem. Got a spot right in front of the joint. If you do stop by, definitely give the chili a moment to cool--it comes out steaming hot! It's a solid, quick meal, but it hasn't dethroned the real OG, Original Tommy's, for me.
