Check-in was easy and our front door overlooked the pool. I don't think the pool was open when we were there because it was still chilly outside. It was a great experience, but frankly it was just a bummer that it felt like the entire space was geared towards gay men rather than queer PEOPLE as a whole. As a queer woman, I just wish it had felt like I was represented too, but it's okay cause not every space is for me! I also don't know if it's the norm, but the bar was pretty empty for a Saturday night which just didn't give the vibe for dancing I was hoping for. All the staff were so kind and helpful. Would totally stay here again if needed/staying in the area and would recommend to someone who is curious! Overall, the establishment appeared to be understaffed, with the exception of the bar personnel. There is a clear need for additional wait staff, front desk personnel, pool attendants, and groundskeepers. The only consistently maintained aspect of the grounds seemed to be the lawn. Professional groundskeeping expertise is urgently required, as the bushes, ornamental grasses, trees, and planted areas are overgrown and heavily weeded. Regrettably, it appears The Dunes Resort's primary focus is financial gain, with a discernible lack of reinvestment in the property over an extended period. This is a concerning observation.

When we mentioned the poor service we received at Stella's, the staff at The Apartment Lounge immediately apologized on their behalf (even though it wasn't their fault!) and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The atmosphere was welcoming, the drinks were so much better than what we had at Stella's, and the service was exceptional. Special shout out to Matty, our bartender, who was not only friendly and attentive but also mixed up some incredible cocktails! They completely turned our night around. I got the alpenglow and Nate got the spicy margarita. Both were delicious and beautiful. We also got some happy hour snacks - the dijon sesame salad and the savory cream cheese wontons. Their happy hour is a great deal and I'd love to come back soon for that again. The salad was fresh and a big portion to share. The raw diced onion wasn't my favorite addition to the salad, but I did love the overall flavors. The savory cream cheese wontons were absolutely delicious - definitely very savory and crispy. I'd get these every time! The vibe inside at happy hour was pretty quiet but it can get packed as it's not a huge space. As a queer person, we have to protect our spaces by supporting them. The care that the staff lures into this place truly shows. The rotating menu, the affordable drink options, the ambiance and the way they truly take suggestions from their patrons. They have a new patio addition which has made the smaller spot feel larger aswell. Last fall, I came in on a whim by myself. Callie was my bartender (love), and they were deciding what to do with some Sloe Gin. Thus the "Femme Fatale" was born, there's something magical about watching a craft cocktail come together. Something even more magical about being able to NAME a cocktail at your favorite watering hole. GW is truly a beautiful addition to GR.

Drinks are cheap and potent, with a list of special shots on the wall. Beers were just over $2, and shots ran about $3.50 apiece.
