I was amazed to learn that this place offers Free Introductory classes. The only thing was, I had no idea what Pilates was. No idea whatsoever. To me, Pilates sounded like something you would order in an Italian restaurant. But I read my friend Heather K's review and decided to check this place out for myself. And I'm so glad I did! I signed up for the Free Introductory class. It was kind of fun. Well, maybe fun is a bit of an exaggeration. I guess it would be more accurate to say it was interesting. Interesting enough to make me want to learn more about Pilates. I decided to sign up for some classes. The staff was very helpful, and answered all my questions about the various packages the Club offers. Booking classes using the Club Pilates website was super easy. So now that I've gone to a couple classes, I'll share what I think what Pilates is all about. It seems to me that Pilates is a system to convert mechanical energy to electricity. I'm guessing it's part of the Green New Deal. Electricity is generated by an apparatus called "The Reformer." It's essentially a torso sized platform mounted on tracks. The platform is spring loaded; users lay on their back and use their arms and legs to propel the platform back and forth on the track. A dynamo under the reformer converts the motion into electricity. Every Pilates studio produces enough electricity every hour to supply an entire strip mall. That's why so many strip malls have Pilates "studios." The genius part of Pilates is marketing it as a form of exercise. They actually get people to pay a lot of money to take what they call "classes." The studio, or "Club" then makes money by selling the electricity generated to the Grid. It's pure genius. Instead of having to pay people to work the machines, Pilates gets people to pay them! And then they make even more money by selling the energy the machines generate. Genius, I tells ya! One of the sweetest parts for those taking Pilates "classes" is that the work really is great exercise. It's low impact, so there is less risk of injury than many other forms of exercise. Pilates workouts focus on strengthening your core. It's a very accessible form of exercise. You don't already have to be in great shape to start. Pilates meets you where you are. Another one of the sweetest parts of Club Pilates is their staff. From the front desk, to the instructors, every employee is cheerful, helpful and genuinely concerned with helping you achieve your goals. I think I've had three different instructors now. Each was quite different. All were excellent Plus, everyone at Club Pilates has a great sense of humor and they're totally cool with customers making up outlandish stories about the reformers generating electricity and other nonsense and publishing them in a review on Yelp. I took the intro class yesterday with Megan and her attitude was everything that turns women away from classes like this. She was extremely rude and condescending, she particularly set her sights on one woman that she continued to single out. I have taken many group style classes and there are ways to give corrections without being mean or embarrassing the person. The point of an intro class is for people who have no experience to learn. She seemed to get frustrated with this woman at one point during the class and asked her if she understood her and if she spoke English. It was disgusting behavior. Nine months later and I'm still here! I cannot begin to explain how much I've changed since first joining the Ventura location. Thank you Club Pilates! Booking via the app is a breeze. I recommend getting their "unlimited" plan so you can go to the Oxnard studio too. You'll find that there is a certain time or teacher you may prefer. That helps knowing as you schedule your time on the reformer. I recommend the Center and Balance classes! Instructors are beyond helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive to newbies. Pilates loves all bodies and everybody! If you never done Pilates and don't know where to start, COME HERE! If you are new to the area and are looking for a Pilates club, you just found one here:) The (FREE) intro class gives just enough information so that you know what to expect for your first class. Let me tell you, just doing even five days of Pilates I felt so strong and a difference in my daily activity. I was a college athlete and ten years later with no consistent exercise I lost hope in feeling strong again. After my first class I was hooked! They offer different packages that determine how many classes you can take. Every class I was in, everyone was WONDERFUL! It's such a beautiful supportive community. During one class I felt I could not do a move. The instructors offer alternative positions if you have any body aches or pains. After ten classes I lost 10 pounds!!! It is nice to be in a class where everyone is on the same level and we're you can work your way up to level up. It gives you motivation to push yourself or you can stay in the first class and STILL build strength. The studio is very clean and well taken care of. I have been a member of Club Pilates over the last few years, going through a knee replacement and then another knee replacement. I took a break after the second knee ! I took an introductory class and LOVED it! I still feel my sore muscles after 3 days, The instructor was terrific! There were three or four ladies working the front desk when I arrived, and every single person was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Prices seem totally reasonable if you buy a package. That being said, the only reason why I did not end up buying a package is because the majority of beginner and intermediate classes are waitlisted for 2 to 3 weeks out. That is a long planning window, and you would lose classes you paid for if you cannot get in for 2 weeks. If you want to hit a class tomorrow before work or in a couple of days with a friend - there isn't any availability. That isn't the fault of the business because they have a TON of class times so YAY for Club Pilates that they are so busy. It just stinks for anyone trying to book - it's all waitlisted. LOL TIP: Bring grippy socks, otherwise you will buy them when you arrive at a cost of $14 - $25. Come prepared! read more

When you join you are committed for 3 months. When you cancel be sure to do it 30 days in advance. I am being charged for a full month of classes I can't go to which sucks - I unfortunately was already 16 days into my cycle. What sucks more is that I have already missed 4 consecutive classes - 2 to COVID and 2 to work which was unavoidable. While I am unhappy with the lack of flexibility, I will not fight it as I understand this was their policy and a contract was signed. If anyone would like to use my credits I'd love to give them to you as I cannot go and I don't like the idea that 4 credits will go unused and that my payment is purely just profit. As for the classes, I will say the instructors are friendly. The classes are good for stretching, nothing too strenuous. It was something I chose because I was inactive and wanted to starting moving more. Scheduling was always somewhat tricky. Classes fill up fast and you are left joining waitlists hoping you can get it. For someone like me that does not have a set schedule and cannot plan 4 weeks out or come the same day every week- this has been a difficult and stressful experience. If your time is not flexible I recommend going elsewhere read more

I started going here during Covid times instead of the gym. I'd always wanted to try Pilates and I enjoyed thé intro class with Hannah. This was the closest pilates studio near me so I decided to try it. I liked going in to the classes for the first 2 months but they started to feel easy and repetitive, I wasn't seeing or feeling any changes. I needed more of a challenge. Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience. Some classes were fun and most of the instructors were great! But they keep you at thé beginner level far too long. I had a 3 month commitment and went in almost everyday of the week, except Sundays. When I decided to go in for my first level up class in the final month 3, I was told it would be " to hard ". The lady there almost tried to convince me I was not ready for it. I think I'd be the best person to decide that for myself. The beginner classes were getting too easy and very repetitive, but I was paying almost $200/m and the classes were not giving results. I tried every instructor there. The front desk mentioned she herself wasn't at the level and she left it up to me in the end to stay. I told her I'd like to stay anyway. Then in the end the instructor didn't even show up. My commitment ended soon afterwards and I'd say in my personal opinion it's not worth it. In the three months I was there I never got to try out the more advanced classes. For the price I was paying, I'd like the option of choosing classes that are challenging. read more

I love Club Pilates and would highly recommend it! When I started five years ago, I was dealing with a shoulder injury from a car crash that seemed like it would never heal completely, and I also have neck issues. But due to the expertise of the teachers, they can give you modifications so that you can be safe with your body. I'm happy to say that Pilates has been just as good as physical therapy for improving my shoulder injury, and I have much more strength and range of movement in my shoulder thanks to the classes I have taken here. Additionally, I work in a high stress job as an elementary school teacher. When I do Pilates after work, the stress melts away, and I feel more calm and relaxed. Furthermore, I've tried going to a gym, but it never really helped me because I didn't enjoy it. However when I tried Pilates I found it to be fun, and this along with the structure of the classes, is exactly what I needed to exercise consistently. Now, I feel more fit than I've ever been in my life, and that's thanks to Pilates! I'm so grateful to all the wonderful and high quality teachers that I have worked with over these past 5 years that have made this a great place to be a part of. read more
