I stopped attending the studio February 2020. In August, I received a call from a collections agency stating I owed $360 to this studio, even though I hadn't attended classes all year and did not authorize any membership renewals. I reached out via email and phone repeatedly to Pure Barre to discuss, but received no communication. I was worried about the charge affecting my credit score, so I paid it and thought that would be the end. Several months later, I receive another call from the same collections agency, this time for a charge of $419 for Pure Barre. Again, I called and emailed repeatedly, even emailing/calling the corporate headquarters, but received no communication from Pure Barre regarding this charge. I paid the collection because I'm worried about the impact on my credit score, but reached out to Pure Barre to request a refund. I haven't attended class since February 2020 and received zero communication from Pure Barre but yet I owed collections over $700 !?!? This is inexcusable to me and I still haven't received a refund. I understand covid has been tough for fitness studios, but by conducting their business this way, Pure Detroit/Birmingham has lost a customer (and I'm sure I'm not the only one).

The owner wrapped our hands for the first and explained the importance of wrapping our wrists and knuckles to keep them stable. The wraps are $10 for a pair. We started with the 5 mins or so of warm-ups and then started our 8-3 min rounds of boxing with a minute break between each round and then 7 minutes of core work. It was a good workout. Will take more time to get more coordinated between the jabs, cross, hook and uppercuts. My arms and shoulder were good and sore within an hour and half after today's class. It was a fun and great experience. Great deal for unlimited check-ins a month for $99 for a 12 month membership. Would maybe do it again. Do be aware of signing on for the 12 month membership as I have heard from other members that they will come after you hard if you miss a payment or want out of your contract. Just be aware if you commit don't back out or it could be a nightmare.

So my Groupon was for a month unlimited classes and I decided to make that month count! The gym is a pretty big space with a huge gym mat flooring in the center, trx bands and boxing bags to the side. It's an all women boot camp so I automatically felt comfortable (no offense guys ). This camp is full of dedicated women from all different strength ranges so you feel comfortable going at your own pace and even daring to push yourself! The women are encouraging when you take the time to hear their stories and hear their reason why they keep coming to class. Bianca is the owner and also a trainer and she instantly makes you feel like one of the Burn Sisters (even though she tries to kill you through her crazy workouts on a daily basis!) She's very involved and hands on and you can tell she puts a lot of thought into the different workouts daily. Which is one of things I love, it never gets redundant there's always something different to push you and you even get the less difficult, most difficult and somewhere in between to help maximize your workout and tailor it to fit you. All the trainers are energetic and you can always get one on one attention to correct your form. They even have an app where you can schedule sessions to get measured and check your progress, and learn the workout focus for the week and more features. There is also Facebook support group where you can also connect. I'm nearing the end of my month long Groupon and I can say without a doubt this is my most favorite workout experience and I've done a few different bootcamps and workouts over the years! Do I groan every day just thinking about going to work out? Yes! Does it still hurt? Yes! Would I rather be somewhere drinking a beer? Yes! But this place is so worth it, I can't stop dragging myself there daily! If you're feeling skeptical about starting they offer a 14 day free trial! What do you have to lose....except some extra weight?!

The studio looked like every other yoga studio but the instructor of the class was absolutely…read morehorrendous. In all the group classes I've taken (yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, etc.), this instructor had to have been the most disengaged and disinterested. My cousin and I went to a Vinyasa class because she found the studio online and wanted to give it a shot. I've done a bit of Bikram and Hatha Flow sporadically and she had never done yoga before (maybe a free group class or two). We walked in and the receptionist was nice enough. We go inside the heated room and do a bit of stretching before class. The instructor walks in and says his name is Austin and that he's subbing for someone named Justin. My cousin and I have never been to this studio before so that means nothing to us. His shirt had a Buddha on it with "Let Shit Go" underneath and I internally groan: Buddhism is an actual religion so slapping a deity millions of people worship on a t-shirt with a basic saying underneath just reeks aloofness. But that's besides the point. He notes that my cousin has never been to yoga or Vinyayas before. The class begins and he walks us through a long series of postures once and then said something like "Now do that flow for the next five minutes." Besides two people in the class who seemed to be regulars, everyone else was entirely lost on the sequence and generally had really confused and lost looks on their faces. Meanwhile, after his initial quick listing of the poses, he doesn't do anything else. He says absolutely nothing and just looks bored. He makes no effort to explain the poses, guide the class (the vast majority of whom were struggling), to correct anyone's postures, to offer advanced alternatives for the only two people who seemed to know what they were doing, or do anything an instructor is expected to do. He just checked out after listing the poses once. The dude literally just stood against a wall and stared into space, only resurfacing two or three times during the entire one-hour class to add more postures to the sequence and say "Now repeat this for 10 minutes." If we wanted something with no engagement, we would have happily stayed home and watched YouTube videos, which quite frankly are better because they at least provide some instruction and guidance. I'm also not sure why he bothered asking if there was anyone new to yoga in the class when he threw that out the window immediately - luckily, my cousin is athletic so she was able to catch on as much as anyone can in that situation. This studio needs to train its instructors better. I've gone to many group classes of all varieties for years and never have I had an instructor that was absolutely disinterested in guiding, teaching, or even minimally engaging with the students. My cousin had bought a series of classes and regretted it after this first class.

Grab a block, a strap and legs up the wall. The class was awesome for slowing down the mind. Amy was the instructor and her voice was calming and her instructions precise. At times she will throw out a suggestion and you have no idea if she is talking to you. Pretty much if one person needs to soften the knees someone else needs a reminder as well.
