Love the instructors and equipment is good. Scheduling your classes is not well planned and organized and to say the least frustrating

Many times I told my husband (Jono) that this was like Tony Robbins for Yoga! The positivity was amazing! This is a very guided yoga teacher training and we are forever grateful for taking the leap of action and signing up for Michael's yoga teacher training. All of the instructors were amazing! Most places I've been to the classes are usually great as long as you put in the work. The employees are great and the classes are too. Most of the staff are very friendly but the owner has the worst communication skills. He leaves out information and isn't clear. He's changed memberships without informing me prior which was I I left the first time. During this last 6 week challenge I asked about purchasing a myzone and he said ok and he needed a couple more people to order. The next week he said he was going to order some and I would be able to purchase. He never got back to me so I purchased my own directly from Myzone. When I asked hime for the club code he said it was for members only. What? Why didn't he say that when we discussed it TWICE. He NEVER once said it was for members only. I emailed him and texted him and asked him to call me so we can discuss which he never did. When I showed up at the studio to my first class after purchasing my belt he never said anything but instead of teaching the class properly he was on his phone and computer the whole time. Turns out he was deactivating my Myzone belt and did it more than once without saying a single word to me. If that's not unprofessional and sneaky I don't know what is. He is sneaky and lacks communication skills. This last go around will be my last and will not be returning just like many of his original members.

They told me at the front desk that after Covid their trainers went to other places & they're starting new classes again soon. Fine, but Covid was in 2020. It's literally 4yrs later. Idk the way the front desk made it seem is like, they've been telling that story for a while now. It is actually "false advertisement" & why are we paying a high monthly fee for amenities that you don't even have? *In response to your message Rosa. LHF website shows a ton of classes that you don't have- which is false advertisement. Also, NO I did not have a consultation when joining, none of the 16yr olds you have at the front desk bothered to tell me anything they were too busy on tik tok & NO it's been 3 weeks and none of your trainers called for a free workout with them, I probably would have joined up for some 1 on 1 training but I'm over it now. Also, more than half of your treadmills are broke. Just an FYI.

At no point did either employee direct us as to where anything was. I had to ask where the bathrooms were. The basement is where the cycling room is which is a room with broken equipment and cycling machines. The locker room was actually very nice and clean. They have their cardio machines on the first floor along with the two workout rooms that have a selection of weights but with absolutely no ventilation which makes it impossible to work out there. Their second floor has their machines which they do have a great variety. However, I felt like there was no ventilation either. The walls had patches of white and unfinished paint which gave the gym a weird look. There were tvs but none of them were on which didn't make sense. On our way out, the front desk returned my ID but didn't ask me anything or if I would be interested in joining. Wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone

This was my first time trying aerial yoga, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I quickly…read morerealized it's a full body workout. Danielle, our instructor, was efficient, making the most of our private class by showing us all kinds of fun and challenging tricks in the silks. That said, a few things would've elevated the experience. First and foremost, the silks themselves really need a deep clean. The smell was noticeably off, and that made it uncomfortable anytime we had to lift ourselves into them or get up close for certain movements. I get that it's an active studio, but the silks shouldn't retain that much odor, especially for a private class setting. We had an early 9 a.m. session, and it would've been a nice to 1) do introductions (share a bit about the studio? ask about our 6 party group? more conversational overall...) 2) offer to use the Bluetooth speaker to play music tailored to our vibe, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. We could've asked, sure, but small details like that can make a difference for a private group. Otherwise, the experience could feel a bit impersonal and solely transactional. Danielle's teaching style was quick and assertive, which works for more advanced folks, but most of us were beginners. She tended to demonstrate five or six steps at once, followed by a casual "You got it?" (we indeed did not have it, LOL) We weren't shy about asking for help, though, and I appreciated her patience when we needed things broken down more slowly, especially when it came to knots and footing that didn't feel intuitive or safe without guidance. I also think the silks could've been lifted a bit higher so that we got a more enhanced "aerial" experience. I didn't feel as though we were as lifted from the mat. Despite the speed bumps, it was a fun and memorable way to start our Saturday. Danielle and her daughter Grace were kind enough to take our pictures afterward, and we all left feeling like we'd done something bold and new. I would definitely recommend the experience (with the feedback that the studio give the silks a refresh and perhaps adjust the pace for true first-timers).

Within moments a young gentleman came to assist. During the tour I witnessed clean areas, with what I'd say were diehard gym members maintaining their fitness goals by either pumping iron, running on the treadmills, stretching in the group fitness room or swimming laps in the lap pool. Quite motivating. The young gentleman who gave me the tour walked me up, down several stairs and throughout all accessible areas of the gym. He was thorough and answered all of my questions without being pushy. The Pool area looked really appealing and the Ladies Locker room looked neat and well kept. The one thing lacking for me was a squash/racquetball court. I know this is not a popular take for all, but I think indoor courts could have been considered in the plans as the Waters Place area is a sprawling piece of land which could've easily accommodated at least two courts in the build. Another plus in having indoor courts is the accessibility during the colder months. Also at this stage, a racquetball court could have been converted into at least one Pickleball Court...definitely a missed opportunity. In my opinion, Owners/Contractors fail to realize that Bronxites are avid racquet sports players too. Imagine getting a great indoor court workout, and then an option to take a few laps in the pool, conveniently located within your area instead of having to trek across the bridge to another LA Fitness that has this amenity. When joining a gym you'd want these conveniences factored in to encourage you to visit as often as possible. Unsure of their membership fees, but at a glance a nice looking gym. Outdoor parking was available during the time I visited. And an indoor garage is also available. 3.5 Stars

They spoke down to my children on multiple occasions, thinking the kids wouldn't tell me. I personally witnessed them being especially nasty toward Black children while sitting around gossiping and judging members like immature teenagers. To make it worse, some staff hid behind Spanish, assuming no one could understand their anti-Black comments. That is not just unprofessional, it's discriminatory and unacceptable. This is supposed to be a family-friendly, welcoming space--but instead, the staff create a hostile and toxic environment. If they keep treating people this way, they're going to end up with serious legal problems. I would never recommend this YMCA to anyone. And now, after I left a negative review, they've decided to try to paint my children as "troublemakers." This is nothing more than a weak attempt at damage control by staff who don't want to take responsibility for their own rude and discriminatory behavior.
