This past Christmas season, though, we all drove through it - at least, when we went - which made for a much quicker experience, of course, but it spared us the cold weather and muddy ground. Pack a car with family and friends, and come experience the magic. Go early or risk getting into some serious grid-locked traffic for a little while. There's vendors and cheer, galore. Some home decorations feature specific themes, like Marvel or Disney, while others take a more secular approach or else go all-out Christmas bonanza. The bigger, the better is what it's all about. Though this event is free, donations are encouraged to keep the tradition going year after year.

A lot of people come and just walk and admire the Christmas decorations that every year they put and keep the old decorations and year after year they add new ones. It is a nice tradition that they stared after a child die in one of the houses after that the tree in front of the house they started decorating it and more families started to decorate their houses. You do need to pay an entrance fee for each car. I suggest purchasing it online before you got to save $5. This year was $30 at the door and online $25 but once you go in everything is free except for food. There is a basketball activity, tether ball, coming back this year the corn pit, and a little farm stand that has your decorative pumpkins on it. So very cute. They have chickens you can feed there. Goats on the farm to see. Food trucks on-site you can purchase. In addition, plenty of outdoor seatings for families to eat their lunch. The farm has barrel rides for kids, and hayride for the everyone. There is a you-pick flower where you pay $15 to pick enough flowers for your case they give you. There is a new area for you to sit down and trim and arrange your flowers. Tons of pumpkins of all assortment to pick from. Super cute for porch displays. They also invite a group of local businesses and artists to sell things at the farm. Super fun here and we enjoy coming here each year in October.

It was warm the day we went and there is very little shade so make sure you take water, a hat, and sunscreen because it's Fresno folks. Haha! I have a house with a porch in Tower District and decided to host the Author of the Magic Taco Book who did a weird hat bar on my porch at the last minute. I originally wasn't going to do it because my yard was a mess, but after offering my porch, I worked my butt off hoeing the weeds! I went and got temporary artificial grass and a glider. It was my family, the two guitar players, Edgar Rodriguez Solis who wrote the book and brought his weird hat bar and also his wife, kids and family. My mom also sold eggrolls, fried rice and Thai tea. My neighborhood was more of a sprinkle with each street having a few porches doing different things. My neighbor across the street had a poetry jam. My neighbors a few streets over on Del Mar always does a really big lineup. A few houses down from them, they had a jam session. On San Pablo, there was a house with music and a fruit and chamoy stand. On Vaness, restaurants and small businesses were hosting. One had a dj with bubbles light and house music. When you go into town, closer to the restaurants and tower theater, near Olive and Wishon, the porch fest gets bigger and bigger and it's not just one type of music, it's so many different and cool genres. I hate when people say there is nothing to do in Fresno when just during that weekend alone there was Tower District Porch Fest, Asian Festival at Fresno City College, The Clovis Rodeo,Fresno State Vintage Days and Fresno State's first football game. If you've never been to porch fest, definitely check it out next year because it has grown huge since 2021. However, if you're going not behave, please stay home!!

I used to come as a child, and this place has come a long ways since then. There are a dozen or more little exhibits of childhood nursery rhymes (such as Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and Jill), each has a box you can put a key in (mine from my childhood still worked) and hear the story in English or Spanish. All of the boxes we tried worked. Some of the exhibits are just things you look at, some include things like slides or other things for kids to play on. There's also a castle and a pirate ship (one of the new exhibits). There's a train, which costs extra and is ok, but they need to clean up the area it goes through, it could be a lot nicer. There's also a small snack bar. All in all, this is a really great place to bring kids under about 7. It was not busy at all the day we were there, which surprised me because our kids had so much fun!

The firefighters came and let us out! How does this even happen?! There was absolutely no one there making sure everyone was out. I saw an employee locking everything at about 3:45 pm and thought that was a little odd considering they didn't close until 4. Horrible experience and a rip off! Definitely not worth as much as they charge!

My boys really enjoyed the list of things to look for while exploring. On the list we found bugs, butterflies, lizards, flowers and a few more. The garden has a few shady spots that were much needed for a break from the heat. They also have a little section of music instruments to play. We didn't get to try them but someone was playing a beautiful melody while we were there. When we were done exploring the beautiful garden we headed back to the visitor center. The boys both got stickers for completing their activities list. Inside the visitor center they also sell some beautifully crafted cups, soaps, honey and other trinkets. My boys picked out a few toys and I go their honey. The honey is actually really delicious.

It was always a great way to spend some outdoor time and get fresh air. The new building in the botanical garden is incredible and 100% community funded! That means the volunteers and donors of this space fully own everything! With zero government red tape, they're able to fast track art events, adult ED classes, garden parties, and create jobs for the community. The new building is beautiful and comes with a small gift shop, selling local artist pieces, indoor meeting/recreation area, and an shaded outdoor patio. The patio is public and available for anybody who is walking the trail. We actually ate our lunch here, before walking the botanical garden trail for a nature scavenger hunt. They also cleaned up a few of the trails and opened up a few more areas for outdoor events. This is a great addition to the Clovis community and if you haven't been yet, get yourself here and support this beautiful botanical garden!

We had to wait in a little line to check in our reservation before we were able to get in. They give you a wristband and a raffle ticket for the rental skates. They have to do a little bag search and go through a small metal detector for safety. They have one person giving out the rentals to people and run the toy tables. You were able to get quads or in line skates. We pretty much just claim a table to put your stuff there. The rink is pretty big. They have neon lights and music playing. There was a lot of adults and kids skating around. They also had padded rails for the rink. We had two large pizzas, two pitchers of soda, and chicken fries. The food was pretty good and had big portions for 7 of us, but it did take a little while for the food to come out and it was kind of pricey. They had little mini arcade games which was fun for the kids. We event got a small little toy which was only $8. It is definitely a fun place for all ages.
