I popped a tire about 10 miles from home, luckily, I was in walking distance to this shop. I've sadly never learned how to patch a tire on my own. Thankfully, Dan was there and kind enough to walk me through the entire process. I was in a pinch and easily could have been up sold for something I didn't need. So this place came up around the neighborhood, I decided to give this place a try. Won't ever go back. I paid about $95 for 3 tires. The man never disclosed that they charge $5 to install the tubes. I'm a single parent and it was the first time I received service without being made aware of all the charges. It wasn't until he rang me up that I asked why was there a $15 dollar charge more than the total. The job was already done, I wasn't going to ask him to remove everything. Unprofessional, and irresponsible to be honest. No respect for the customers he's assisting, he stopped working on the job to assist others rather than serving in an orderly fashion. The install took about 45 min including interruptions. The cherry on top was when I looked at my online banking and realized he charged my card twice. They eventually refunded me the money . This is an all American business. A local bike shop run by folks who care. Unpretentious, fast and efficient and a great value. From experience, this is the cheapest place in Clovis for flat repair overall, I got the thorn resistant tube for my kids bikes in the repair for the same price every other store wanted for a regular tune. Son popped a back tire and I was not sure how to change with all of the chain and gears. I tried to start but was sure I would mess it up. They were only 25 minutes from closing, but my son and I were welcomed in by the owner. Better yet - he offered to show us how to do it right for the future pops. He also sealed the tubes of both tires to help with future punctures. So a 25 minute repair lesson, a new tube, 2 sealed tubes, and a freshly repaired bike for a very reasonable price. This review is based on actually purchasing a bicycle from the shop and taking it in for maintenance over the past year of commuting with it. Came into the shop at the old location and waited around while other customers were being taken care of( played with crank the dog and touched really nice bikes). I told them I needed a bicycle and we were instantly on the hunt to find the perfect bicycle for me. They helped educate me so I could make an informed decision on what bicycle to get. After joyful test rides in the parking lot we finally found the future noble steed. I picked the color I wanted from the catalog and next week it was built waiting for me at the shop. They hooked me up with a proper bike fit (must do!) And I was off with the perfect bicycle for me within the budget I originally intended. All with great friendly service. The bicycle came with free maintenance, just pay for the parts. Have only really needed punctured tubes changed and a broken spoke fixed/wheel trued. Everything else has just been upgrades like a rear rack and cooler pedals. All work was done timely and never with any problems, Mr. Baily really takes the initiative to do great work and get us back out and riding as soon as possible. They really support the Fresno/Clovis cycling community and I often find myself stopping by to ponder my next upgrade/ get helpful tips and information. Never have I dealt with this amount of un-professionalism. Tried to order a part for a Scott bicycle from them and their lack of urgency or care was downright rude. To the point of him telling me to just go get it from another Scott dealer. After making a call to Scott, I highly doubt that they will be carrying their brand anymore. Fantastic customer service! My fourteen-year old son got a flat on his way to summer school. He walked the rest of the way to school and then all the way from Herndon to the shop to get a replacement tube. Seeing him hot and having a bad day, the shop replaced his tube and didn't charge him for labor. The thing that really got to me is that my son dyed his hair blue for fun over the summer. As we did things around town with a blue-haired boy, he'd get odd looks and was sometimes treated like a "punk." He's a kind and respectful young man but I understand the perception, especially when he was on his own, without adult "supervision." This establishment DIDN'T treat him as a potential troublemaker. We were visiting my mother in law in Clovis during the week of Christmas. She had left the kids extra bikes out in the yard for several months and the tires were flat. We took them by the shop and spoke to Kirk. He was extremely busy but managed to get the bikes all fixed up and ready to ride in a couple of hours so the kids could enjoy them over the holiday week. Went in the other day to simply buy an adapter for a presta valve ; women at the front desk charged me $4.75 cents !! Another bicycle shop in town only sells them for 0.89 cents . Honest businesses are rare these days. More rare is a business willing to put their stock on the line for your business. I am a 450lbs. man with back problems who couldn't find a bike to ride cleared for my weight. Dan was willing to let me try out a bike that has a listed 400lbs limit to see if it would work for me. I brought my business to him after that and because I don't have money coming out of my ears he worked with me to get what I needed within my budget. Don't get me wrong, he did try to sell me on some extras but it wasn't high pressure. I stopped in Clovis Bicycle Shop to pick up a replacement tube for my hybrid bike. I just happened to be in the area and went into the store thinking that one of the employees would be able to tell me the size of the tube I would need if I gave them the model of my bike. When I went in both of the employees told me that "I would have to go back to my house to get the tube size because there was no way for them check what kind of tube I needed." This was despite the fact that one of the employees was sitting right in front of a computer and I assume they could have easily just looked it up which is what I did on my cell phone. I did end up getting the tube anyways despite the fact that it wasn't a very good first impression and I did not get the sense that the people working there cared about retaining my business. On a more positive note, the replacement tube was about the same price as the one I found on Amazon so there's that. I will probably just stick with Stevens from now on as the level of service there is much higher in my opinion. read more

After going to several other bike shops in town I finally found what I was looking for. The guys in here are vets that know their stuff and were patient enough to listen to my myriad of questions without making me feel rushed or un-welcome (which is how the other shops made me feel). I have lived many other places and found that in the fresno area the standards are quite low when it comes to bike shops. This is exactly what I was looking for a small, locally owned shop that takes the time to help me find exactly what I need. They offer free tune ups for life on bikes sold by them which is a big deal for me as I plan on putting down 100+ miles a week as part of a fitness plan. So far I've had them perform small services like getting new tires mounted up and a basic tuneup for my riding buddy. Both times the turn around was fast as I can ask for. As for the other reviews saying they are overpriced, that wasn't my experience at all. I cross checked some of the items I bought from them vs online and everything seems to be right in the ballpark. You shouldn't ever expect a B&M to be the same as online. You pay a little extra to be able to touch and feel what your buying and to have someone there to help you find what's right for you. read more

Update: I was in looking for a part and had a chance to speak to the owner. He's the owner/founder of A Different Bent, the largest recumbent retailer in the central valley. Apparently, he purchased Clovis Bicycle Company from the previous owners and the two businesses now occupy the same retail space. So all reviews before mid-2015 were for the old owners, when they were located outside Sierra Vista Mall. On three visits to the store on West Bullard Ave, I've had nothing but great service. Original review: I recently moved back into the area and was aware of this shop when they were located on Shaw Avenue. They had several pretty negative Yelp and Google reviews (although I thought some baseless), so I ran my most recent repairs down to Fulton Cycle Works. A couple of days ago, I needed to have a wheel trued for a friend's bike and I discovered that Fulton Cycle Works had moved to Hanford (sigh). I called Clovis Bicycle Company and was given a really reasonable phone quote for the service, so I decided to give them a shot. When I went in, the salesperson threw the wheel on the truing stand and tweaked it up while I waited. No charge for the service. Now, no one should expect to get their bike serviced while they wait, but I was extremely impressed with the level of customer service. Now this shop is not Rubber Soul, Steven's Bicycle or Tri-Sport. They don't stock hundreds of bikes in a chrome-plated showroom with salespersons waiting, like vultures, to swoop down on new customers. Those shops are for cyclists with more money than sense and I'm surprised that the three shops can survive in such close proximity. Clovis Bicycle Company is a small, neighborhood bike shop with a moderate inventory that spans juvenile to adult bikes. read more
