I brought my 1998 Mercury Mountaineer in to have the power steering repaired. I got a quote over the phone. When I brought the truck in, I found a friendly, professional staff in a clean office and well kept grounds. They took the time to listen to my concerns and I requested additional inspections. They quoted one day for the repair (needed parts) and the truck was ready when they said it would be. Their service & prices are great. They are very competitive with the dealer and they exceeded the warranty period on parts and labor. (3 yrs, 36,000 miles) They also provided an inspection report with pricing so I could make decisions about maintenance. I would recommend the Clovis Auto Shop to anyone. read more

Came in looking for a smog test, got ripped off instead. I have a cold air intake in my vehicle that was advertised as carb legal, turns out it's not. Instead of stopping the test at visual inspection and sending me on my way with some advise, the guys at Clovis smog shop ran the whole test anyway, charged me, and then told me I failed. Defeated, I called my local dealership and asked if they could put the stock box in. I called the Clovis smog shop back and told them I had the stock air box back in. They said they couldn't do anything but charge me a retest fee which was more than 50% of the original cost and then charge for the certificate as well. I know the cold air intake thing was completely my fault but taking advantage of me the way this shop did is clearly bad business. Do not support bad business and allow them to thrive from their wrongdoings. read more

Amazing!!!! My car was having troubles on a road trip from Colorado to Washington and I had to stop in Fresno to get a spark plug replaced. The service was exceptional and the staff was beyond friendly. They were able to get my car into the shop and work on it and have it finished with a few hours...even though they were very busy that day. These guys were great. I came in on a Friday with no appointment for a smog check and possibly an oil change. I got both in less than an hour. They managed to wiggle me into their already busy schedule. Price was extremely reasonable and the staff was friendly and professional. Originally found this shop when I needed a Smog check. Went back for basic maintenance (oil change), and am very happy with them. They are professional, friendly, and have fair prices. They gave me a list of other maintenance I will need soon, but did NOT try "hard sell" anything. They were very honest about what would be a priority, and gave me quotes for everything. After my visit, I checked with my son, who is in the military, but very experienced with working on cars (he lives out of town) and he said they were fair in their pricing and the time estimates they gave me for future repairs were reasonable. As a female, I appreciate an auto shop that doesn't talk to me like I'm stupid, or tells me my car will fall apart tomorrow if I don't get $1000 worth of repairs done now. These People Will Rip You Off! You will get ripped off here if you come for a smog check. They charged me $79.95 for the smog check and failed my car before they even checked for emissions. They said the catalytic converter was the wrong type for my car. If it is, Why Didn't They Call ME. They Had My Number. The crazy thing is they smogged it two years ago with the same catalytic converter and there was no problem then. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I took my veh elsewhere because Clovis Auto Shop was closed on the weekend. It failed because the timing was off and the other shop didn't do repairs. I was advised the emissions passed but the timing was off. I took it to Clovis Auto Shop to get it to pass. Be forewarned....a simple timing adjustment here was $80. That's one easy to get to bolt, one timing light, looking up the correct timing in a book/internet and turning the distributor to match with the timing light. Maybe about a 15 min job. That sure seems quite pricey for the amount of effort/time needed. The only reason I let them is because often times when you change one thing, it could mess up something else in emissions and I just wanted my car to pass the smog check. Pre 95 vehicles also get dinged at $79.75 +$8.25 certificate for smog with no discounts. They had me by the short hairs so had to pay if I wanted my car smogged and registered. They are just taking advantage of mandatory CA regulations. Smart business. Not smart for consumer. I'm a long time customer with many vehicles but was somewhat disappointingly surprised this time at what I had to pay. The adjustment got my vehicle to pass so they at least accomplished my mission. Now I am left to consider if I should go back. read more

After shelling out over $2123 for repairs most of which was damage caused by the shop, carelessness or shoddy workmanship or both. The original charge was $3500. I contacted the B.A.R. They serviced my complaint, so I got almost $700 back. I'm retired, so I don't drive a lot. A short time later I noticed my radiator overflow tank was filling up and not going back down, engine also over heating. A mechanic I TRUST determined that the head gasket was leaking. This was part of the damage they caused that they just "repaired." Also I noticed that they only used 2 of the 6 cowling bolts to reinstall it. SHODDY WORKMANSHIP strikes again!!! After all the hassle and feigned goodwill from the owner, I chose to have no further contact with this business. I give them a negative 5 stars! So, I donated the vehicle to Fresno Rescue Mission Thrift Store & Cars. Hopefully the donation will be at least the $1400 paid to Clovis Auto Shop read more
