After significant construction, the park reopened to the public on December 15, 2024. 96th Street Park is located on Indian Creek so there is scenic water views. During the upgrades to the park, a multipurpose field, state-of-the-art playground equipment, and a full-size basketball court were added. There is also a new LEED Silver-certified multi story municipal community center, Thrive 250 fitness equipment, and a kayak launch. Shade structures, fencing, advanced lighting solutions, landscaping, and comprehensive irrigation systems were also added to the park. The city holds many of its resident events here like a Winter Wonderland and Spring Egg Hunt. With its fresh design and new features, this park is a premier gathering space for the community. Whether you're looking to engage in sports, enjoy water activities, or simply relax in a beautiful setting, this modern park has something for everyone.

We usually stop by when we're walking to or from Surfside. We visited midday on a Saturday when I took these photos and there was only one other family there, so it was a very pleasant experience. The shade under the trees gives you a breezy and cool feel on a hot summer day. The equipment at this park is a bit outdated and needs an upgrade, in my opinion. Our son loves the basketball courts and they also have a very large soccer field (grassy area) to play on. The Surfside community has many events here for residents only, which we are unable to attend since we live across the bridge. :-P

The city purchased property that had previously been a residence in May of that year. The newly created 14,000-square-foot park had several benches, a walking trail, and two mulch playgrounds, one geared for 2- to 5-year-olds and another for 5- to 12-year-olds. In 2017 the park received improvements paid for with the General Obligation Bond. Shades of orange and yellow as you would see in a sunset were used as the color scheme for the new play equipment and a rubber floor surface was installed making it ADA accessible. A covered picnic table was also added to the park. The large climbing structure in the center of the park looks entertaining and new shade covers were added to protect kids playing from the sun. A ribbon cutting was held on June 29, 2017. While small in size, this park is big in fun.

There are two so the kids aren't piled on top of each other. Swings for kids and swings for babies are separate. Rock climbing wall is small and short enough for the kids not to get hurt if they do have a little tumble. Sensory or rotary toys Turf ground is amazing. We don't get dirty sitting on the ground or running around. Seesaw. I can't remember the last time I've seen one of those. So cool. Dinosaur teeter. One or two kids can ride on it. Mini library to borrow and donate books for the kids. Plenary of benches all around. So convenient because I was not looking forward to being all hinged over on the floor. Next to a bright line rail track. Scary but it's on the other side of the fence of course. No danger here. Parking right outside and free. You don't have one of those park and pay situations. Park is gated. Kidd can safely run around and you can relax as they play. Tip: bring chalk the pavilion Pilars are coated in chalkboard paint so you can draw all over. A little bucket and washcloths might be a good idea too to clean up the walls a bit and start your masterpiece.

North Shore is famous for having the most intact mid-20th century resort architecture (MiMo) in the Greater Miami area. Tatum Park was named in honor of a trio of pioneer brothers, Smiley, Johnson, and Bethel Tatum who moved to the area in 1919 and platted for roads and residences. The Tatums developed the Altos Del Mar subdivision, on the ocean at 78th Street. Tatum Park is fenced in and there is limited parking here and in general in this part of Miami Beach. I think a lot of the neighborhood residents use the parking meant for the Tatum Park for their own cars. Tatum Park has a number of great amenities that were being enjoyed when I visited. These include a restroom, picnic tables and benches, shaded play ground with poured-in-place rubber surfacing, basketball court, fitness station, open field, and two sand volleyball courts. This park is surrounded by housing on small plots of land so Tatum Park serves the important function of providing a recreational space for families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy some outdoor time.

The park shares a softball field, second playground, and two basketball courts with the school located behind it. When school is not in session the fence is open and anyone in the community is free to use the schools outdoor amenities. The park is very clean and well maintained. It is just a nice bit of green space for the people who live in the neighborhood to exercise, take the kids to play, or picnic. If you don't live in the community there are much larger parks with more amenities to visit. TY Park would be a great choice to visit.

Fisher who left his fingerprints all over Miami Beach…read more Fisher was an entrepreneur who made money in the automotive industry, highway construction, and real estate development. Along with his partner Jim Allison, he developed automobile lights based on acetelyene gas and the men millionaires in 1917 when they sold their Prest-O-Lite company. The partners went on to found the Indianapolis 500 Speedway and the Lincoln Highway. On a vacation to Miami in 1910, Fisher saw the potential in the swampland that ran between Miami and the ocean. Along with John S. Collins and the Lummus Brothers, Fisher was a founder and developer of Miami Beach. In 1913 he built the first luxury hotel in the area followed shortly after by the Lincoln Road shopping district. Fisher built a street car connection to Flagler's railroad so he could develop the area. He invested in infrastructure and set Miami Beach on the path to be the tourist destination it is today. On April 10, 1941 the citizens of Miami dedicated a memorial to Carl G. Fisher. The memorial features a bronze bust of Fisher, wearing his floppy hat, glasses, and smiling. Fisher was known for his trademark glasses. He suffered from severe astigmatism, which resulted in difficulty paying attention in school, headaches, eyestrain, and blurred vision. The vision problem was so bad that he ended up quitting school at age 12. The inscription on the monument reads: "Carl Graham Fisher - he carved a great city out of a jungle". The memorial is located in Fisher park at the corner of Alton Road and Lakeview Drive. Fisher Park also has a recently renovated 2-5 year old and 5-12 year old covered playground with a poured rubber surface. The playground has a back to nature theme. Play equipment includes a tree house, education tree area, dragonfly seesaw, and mushroom spinner. The park also has an open space with large tree for shade and benches. The park is open Monday - Sunday; Sunrise to Sunset.

At the time it was the first green initiative park in the city because the playground, pavilion, garbage cans, benches and picnic table were made from recyclables. In addition drought tolerant plants were chosen. On June 3, 2023 a newly renovated Sunrise Park opened to the public. Although the park is only a half acre it feels so much bigger. Park amenities include paved walkways, outdoor fitness gym, benches, a ping pong table, playground, picnic area, restrooms, and my favorite part, a beautiful butterfly garden that attracts a number of butterflies. This park is really beautiful and it has everything you could want in a neighborhood park. Another welcome amenity is it actually has a parking lot. You have to pay to park on the street at many of the other parks in Hallandale. Sunset Park is a wonderful place to take kids to play and this is one of the rare parks where the adults looked like they were enjoying it as much as the kids.
