I've known her since she was a teenager working with and learning from her father and grandfather, two of the greatest violin makers and restorers of any era. She is in every respect a worthy successor to carry forward the legendary Becker family tradition. Jennifer is unfailingly honest and professional. She wants nothing more than to make your instrument sound as good as it possibly can, whether it's a student instrument or a Strad. She is welcoming, friendly, and understanding with every type of string player, student to lifelong amateur, young professional to world class soloist. You will not find her combination of knowledge, skill, passion, humility, and true art anywhere else. In spite of her status at the pinnacle of her profession, she is completely unassuming. There's not a hint of the kind of pretention you'll find in most other high end violin shops. I live in Maine and gladly drive to St. Paul to have her take care of my magnificent Becker cello. Can't imagine having anyone else work on it!

As soon as I contacted Jennifer Becker & Co. they reached back out and were responsive, professional, and very thorough and knowledgeable. Jeremy was the person I worked with the entire time. He was patient as I explained to him at least three times that my violin is very important to me and it's hard for me to leave it with a stranger. I'm glad I did! Not only did he fix my crack and make it almost invisible, he sealed two seams that I didn't know were open (with my permission of course) and now my violin sounds better than ever! I would HIGHLY recommend and I will definitely be going back should I ever need maintenance on an instrument.

When I sell or purchase something I frequently do it there because I know that they'll give a fair price. Whenever anyone asks me to help sell an instrument. Every time. So my friend is an older fellow and he can't get around to St. Paul easily. So I said I'd find out what Music Go Round would recommend. I made the joke that I want to buy it. 0 chance I could afford what this thing is worth. I'd like to buy a Lamborghini as well, but nobody takes me seriously when I say that either. So explain all of that. The owner's little feelings got hurt because I mentioned that I want the guitar. So he fly out refused to help me. "I don't do market appraisals." So he wouldn't hear me when I tried to explain. It was extremely disrespectful & could have been handled with a little communication. I didn't get that. So this guy is taking the ONLY positive thing about B&H stores and throwing it out the window. Why wouldn't I reach out to Sweetwater to discover something like this? That's the next move. I love the guy you have working there. I think he's in a vest. He has always been kind, cool and professional to me every conversation. It is unfortunate for him that he has to work with this owner. This will sadden me when store inevitably closes, he only has himself to blame. C'mon dude. Build a relationship with your clients. Talk to people. Care a little. You had my full allegiance to your store. But all of that is washed away. Keep people close. I love sending people to Music Go Round but now I'd be embarrassed if you decide you don't like one or my friends.

I had just been "restructured" by my employer and in lieu of some cash owed me, they gave me a gift card to either Guitar Center or Olive Garden. Duh, a no brainer. Viewing the website, in North Carolina there happened to be an Inspired By Gibson Epiphone J-200 12 string used, excellent condition. From the photo, it looked like it could be first cousin to my own Gibson J-200 I bought back in 1968. I had to have it. I immediately signed up to Guitar Center, had them order and ship the guitar to the Roseville store. It was there in a matter of days. With the gift card and some extra cash it was mine. I am not looking at any guarantee for Guitar Center. Their obligation was only to get the instrument delivered to me as shown in the photos. They performed that obligation without incident. I did ask on the way out how much for a 12 string set up. I was told right off the bat $200. Really GC, now I know where you really make your money, lol. I do buy my miscellaneous picks, strings, etc. from the local mom and pop stores but every once in a while Guitar Center will come up with a winner. The photo shows the 2021 Epiphone next to the 1968 Gibson.

After calling the lessons department, I was transferred to Ariel (the store manager). I almost feel embarrassed for how complicated the 'fixing' of the issue became, but Ariel helped me out when I needed it, and long story short I get to keep attending lessons. One of those situations where 'Someone didn't have to, but did' in a positive way and I'm appreciative. Also, I have purchased gear from here before and found excellent price points for cymbals, shells, etc. Look for sales on the export kits if you're a drummer!

If you are like me and feel like math is just something that you'll never "get", it is time to give Danielle a call. From the first time you meet with Danielle, it will be clear to you that you are not in for the usual math learning experience. She is cool, laid back and has a great sense of humor, which means everything to someone like me with major math anxiety. Furthermore, you will NEVER feel stupid working with Danielle; She is the poster child of patience, laughing it off, trying to explain it another way and helping you work through whatever mental roadblock you're hitting. If you had told me a few months ago that I would actually look FORWARD to learning math, I just couldn't have believed it, because I never even thought learning math was something I was capable of. But now? Working through problems all by myself while Danielle watches on and silently nods in approval. Getting 100% on EVERY homework assignment. No joke. Danielle has literally worked miracles for me. Oh, and did I mention how ridiculously affordable her services are? When I began searching for tutors, I was getting quotes in the $55-$65/hour range, and I actually contemplated it because, well, more money means they must be REALLY awesome, right? Don't be a sucker- Danielle is the best bang for your buck. I could go on forever singing her praises, because frankly, she deserves it and I just don't know where I would be without her. They had one listed but by the time I got there it had been sold that morning. Sigh... Anyway I thought I would look around. They have two acoustic guitar rooms. First room had lots of Taylors, Martins, Gibson, etc., but wasn't impressed by the "playability" and the costs were a bit spendy. The "other" room had all kinds of violins, cellos, and a few acoustic guitars. And there hung a Larrivee LV-05 with crusty strings and looked like it had never been played much. I brought some testing equipment with me. A lighted mirror that fit through the sound hole to check for any cracks or loose bracing, 24 inch straight edge to check the fretboard against the height of the bridge. The finish was a beautiful glossy mahogany back and sides with a spruce top. Had a clear pick guard so the nearly 25 year old patina really showed through. Anyway, I bought it on the spot. Turns out the deal included the original Larrivee case also in excellent condition. After the sale I was presented with a 100 dollar gift card to be used in the store. Bought a nice looper with that. Now, I am looking for a steel string parlor type guitar with 12 frets to the body and a slotted headstock.

This thing is an amazing pedal platform and was big with 70s jazz artists and psychedelic artists. Was any of that information asked for? No? After about 4 minutes of searching, the guy whose chin looks like a minnow's with the faintest of caterpillars on his lip said he could give me $150. This amp had just been valued by a much more well known shop for $700. He told me take it or leave it. I felt so dismissed and what sucks is that I've done $1000s of dollars of business there. I bought my first bass there in 1996 and have probably been in the store to browse, buy, and sell every month since then. If you're looking to sell or consign, go elsewhere because they'll only give you 20% of what it's worth. There's a Pleasure Trem 5000 in the case they're selling for $230, and it used to be mine... I was paid $60 for it. F**k these guys!
