Every time I had them color my hair my scalp felt terribly irritated. In addition, every time I had my hair covered there the price increased. I purchased a product that I didn't like. I returned it. Long story short I had an unpleasant experience with this salon back in 2019. The management was so rude and the lady that did my hair was so new she wasn't experienced. It ended up causing a lot of damage to my hair and refused to fix it or give me a refund. I haven't gotten my hair done all these years due to this experience and did everything myself. Well now I decided it's time to try and get it professionally done. I used to get it done all throughout highschool. Anyways I called to give them another chance after hearing management changed. As well as staff and like I mentioned the lady I was with didn't understand her color wheel nor understood what red undertones meant. It's a lot more to the story. I called this morning to give them another chance just like you would with a restaurant.... Just to tell me they refuse services at all to me. When I tried to make my appt this morning and put me on hold for the manager told me "due to a note back in 2019 we can't serve you." it was a joke to think to say they changed and improved. This would have been my 3rd appointment at Clove. I arrived 10 minutes early for my 1PM appointment I had scheduled 9 weeks ago. Upon arrival I was informed that my stylist, Carla, was running 10 minutes behind. No problem, so I sat and waited. At 1:20 I was still in a waiting chair with no communication. A receptionist realized the delay and said that she was almost done. At 1:30 (40 minutes after my arrival- 30 minutes past my appointment time) I could see Carla still curing and straightening a woman's hair. At no point did she every come over and say hi nor did anyone from Clove try to get me started. After waiting for 30 minutes with absolutely no communication from the stylist I left. There was no way I was going to spend 2.5 hours make idle chitchat with with someone who was so inconsiderate. Serious lack of customer service. This establishment lost a client due to disrespectful time management and customer service. If you need an Aveda salon. . . go somewhere else. read more

This picture says it all. I went in for root and highlight touch ups, and asked for a long bob haircut below my shoulders. My hair is sitting on top of my shoulders, instead of below. I ended up with a bob on the right side of my head and a Rachel on the left side after the stylist tried to "texturize" the bulk out of my hair. This is going to take MONTHS to grow out. I look ridiculous. The highlights are amateur. No persons' hair naturally grows this way or gets highlights from the sun this way. I also asked the stylist if we could lighten my base color because the ashy highlights were too much of a contrast to the base. She said we would try a beige toner, which we did, but it did NOTHING about the contrast. There are three sets of banding in the color at the crown of my head. The dark base color from last month they insisted would color correct the line between my previous color and gray hair; the mark where the highlights from last month grew out, and the new color from today on my new (gray) growth, which doesn't match the base from last month!!! The light in the salon makes it hard to see the true color, and in the chair, you're so far away from the mirror, it's hard to see the top of your head. If I had seen the patchy highlights, I would have stayed in the chair to have it fixed. This was such a disappointing experience. I paid $280 for hair that I HATE, and my only option is to live with it until I can afford to have it fixed somewhere else, or go back to the salon for them to fix it at no charge. What would be fair is a partial refund for the botched hair and highlights, instead of having them fix something for free. I'm nervous to have anyone in that salon touch my hair again. I'm furious. $280 for this horrible, horrible dye job and hair cut. There are CHUNKS of hair cut out of the bob. There are chunks of highlights that look like an at-home, botched attempt. Sooo disappointing. I would NOT recommend this hair place. They were very unprofessional. It took multiple times to get a hold and speak to the "owner" who told me on the phone by cutting me off in mid sentence explaining my concern saying " are you done"? Like that's rude as fuck. How are you gonna sit there and tell your customer that. You should be an adult and apologize for the lack of communication through your staff who obviously can't understand their color wheel. If I tell my stylist Kirby I don't want a brassy color don't give me a caramel there's red in that. I asked for blonde. I spent about 300 with tip. The second day I noticed missed spots , nothing was fully blended and color is starting to strip... the owner also mentioned she was there the both times I went. Don't you think you should apologize and give me a discount or something like an manager should do? By my second visit Britney on the phone the desk receptionist . Was rude. And have attitude when I called regarding my complaint. She told me if I didn't like it they would do a full service charge . Not part of it or same thing she did. I told here I wanted to add brown because she added too much blonde and caramel which isn't what I requested. She brightened the top but not the bottom? I was told sitting in that chair the second time that they would charge me another 280 dollars to re do it. Even though they screwed it up. So I had no choice to have her brighten it and so it for free. I felt disrespected , Kirby was quiet didn't seem to care. I told everyone from the beginning I need my hair perfect for my job. My job requires to have nice clean looking hair. I don't like that fact no one apologized to me or gave me a refund. The only paper I signed was regarding my update information about my address phone number emergency contact etc. nothing said anything about no refunds but again I asked for a refund after them doing it the second time and refused my refund. Very poor customer service and very unprofessional. I went here over a year ago and didn't have one problem.... the part that made me more upset was the fact the owner was so rude to the point I wanna help shut this salon down. Way too over priced not even worth your money and why would you recommend me to a better hair stylist more advance who's is MORE expensive. If you can't get it right the first and second time what makes you think ima go back the third? The spots I asked to get fixed wasn't fixed and now I have clumps of hair falling out. My friends and family will never put any money to this place and will for sure go ahead and spread the word so other people don't run into this problem and damage their hair. She did almost nothing (SO much time blow drying and straightening and so little cutting) and the little she did was painful to watch happen to my hair. I ended up with a bang I didn't want and the top part of my hair completely disconnected from the bottom half. Like a longer mullet. I was seething by the time I left (especially after paying $40 for ruined hair). Maybe they would've offered a refund if I asked, but I just wanted to get out before I said something hurtful. I recently moved to Florida. Stephanie had cut my hair last February when we visited family. I knew when we relocated to the area I would go to Stephanie without any hesitation. She is a fantastic stylist. Connie the owner is awesome too. I recently had color and highlights done. The highlights were too light for my liking. I called the salon and was given an appointment right away to darken. I now LOVE the color and darker highlights. I would have given 5 stars. Avoid this place! I had been going to Clove Aveda for several years. Always used the same stylist - Justin. Ac couple of weeks ago I had my hair cut there. It was the worst cut I have ever had as an adult. My hair was buzzed on the sides, uneven in the back. When I complained to the stylist he immediate response was "that's how I always cut it". Not true! The entire time after the cut he was defensive and never even bothered to apologize. All he would do was stare. I didn't yell. I didn't use offensive language. I am not sure if he was on something or what. His only "consoling" remark was "Next time it is on me" At that point I sad there won't be a next time. The next day I called and spoke to the "manager/owner" Connie. She was pseudo apologetic at least. After I asked for a refund she told me she would send a check in the mail. Fine as I had to pay to have someone else at least even out the bad work. About a week later I receive not a check but a affidavit she now wants filled out and notarized at my expense. So in order to get my $35 back I have to pay $15-$20 to get a affidavit notarized that I won't sue them form now "till the end of time". Stay away form this place. Their business practices are more than dubious. If this is the way they treat a loyal customer, I hate to think what they treat a walk in! Response from the owner 4 hours ago Justin has done such a great job with your hair for the past several years. We truly are very sorry that you were not happy with your last haircut with Justin. He truly wanted to help you out and so did our manager. We offered to try to correct your haircut or credit your next haircut with anyone in the salon. If a refund is the only option then it is standard procedure for all service refunds to have a general release completed. Our salon's and staff's goal is to satisfy all of our guests and to reach all of their expectations! Response to the Owner. (1) Yes I HAD been happy with the service over the past few years. Thus my horror at butchery that was done to my hair. (2) Why would I allow someone who butchered my hair to touch it again? Especially when he full out LIED to my face with his "this is the way I always cut it" rubbish. then NEVER apologized at all. Not once. (3)Again why would I go back to Justin with his "your next cut is on me" statement when he butchered my hair? (4) You lie - other than the half backed attempt by Justin to come back next time, there was no "we will credit your account". (5) The ONLY and I mean ONLY person who seemed genuinely concerned was the Salon Manager Sue who offered to fix the butchered haircut herself. At that point I had decided the damage was to much and I would not return to Clove Aveda. (6) Another lie. I was told by you the owner that you were going to put a check in the mail immediately. There was absolutely no mention of a waiver/release/or anything else. Just simply a check would be mailed.I am NOT paying for your "general release" to get my money back. It is now more than obvious that Clove Aveda's business ethics is to simply stall, prolong and manipulate whatever they need to in order to facilitate not refunding a customer. Your actions show what a sad morally bankrupt business and individual you are. I recently moved to the area from a neighboring town and loved the local Aveda salon in Windermere, which is why I decided to give the Clove a try. I made an appointment to get my hair colored at the Clove and was greeted and booked promptly. I later received 2 other phone calls pushing my appointment onto other stylists for various reasons, one stylist had the flu (completely reasonable) and then a longtime customer wanted to book with her stylist (I was a little annoyed at this point, but I get it). Since I was a new customer I was flexible and not overly concerned. Unfortunately, I believe that the last person they scheduled me with was overbooked and on the day of my appointment I ended up waiting over 35 minutes and then was placed with another stylist (this was my fourth stylist since the original booking). It was a late afternoon appointment and while my stylist was professional, it was clear that it was the end of the day, I was an add on, and she was ready to go home. My hair is fine but I think I'll make the 35 minute drive to go back to Salon Dulay in Windermere where I am an established customer, tips can be included via debit or credit cards, and the perks of shampoo include a deep conditioning with aromatherapy, a generous hand massage, and choice of an Aveda product applied during the treatment. I am giving the Clove 2 stars for the quality of my color and kindness of the receptionist. read more
