I have been going to RPS for over 3 years and have seen quite a few stylists over that time…read more They're all great and everyone's super friendly. I was so stoked when Skyler came back since she's the stylist I like to go to the most. RPS isn't cheap but I treat myself to it and every cut I get is well worth it. I always get compliments from people after I go. I also like reading the vintage comics in their waiting area. Just a nice place all around !!

UPDATED 8/13/26: the salon called me after this review and refunded me the overcharged hour plus…read more20% of the hour since I tipped on the four hour amount. I appreciate them making it right. Be sure to double check the amount before check out. ### I unfortunately left disappointed after a decent first experience in the salon. They quoted me initially during a consultation for 3 hours from 1-4pm. When I arrived for my appointment, my stylist took me 20min after my appointment time started as she was busy with another customer. We ended the appointment at 4:22 and I assumed it would still be 3 hours given the delayed start. The receptionist pulled the price up to have the stylist confirm. The stylist shrugged and said "we started a bit late but that's fine." Then I saw the price and they added a full hour to the total price. After tip, it was over $460. Given it was my first time I felt overwhelmed and didn't say anything and cause a scene. I regret not speaking up in the moment. However I don't recommend people go here as they may do the same to you. I won't be returning.

If you've ever had to grow out a tragic haircut, you know how scary it is to get even a little…read moretrim. Well, after five whole years of growing mine out and the DIY trim I attempted during quarantine, suffice it to say my hair was in dire need of divine intervention. Thankfully, Linda provided exactly that! She listened to all of my fears, wants, ideas, and questions, and gave me detailed suggestions for how to make me feel happy with my hair again. We concluded that I needed to chop off at least three inches, which made me nervous, but that quickly dissipated as she worked her magic. She even went so far as to have me point out which face framing hairs I leave out of my ponytail so that she could intentionally trim and shape each one - I've never had anyone care that much before! It's been years since I walked out of a salon feeling so stoked on a haircut. I didn't even miss the length we had to cut off, because my hair looks so much healthier, fuller, bouncier - and it feels infinitely softer. Which, if you've ever gone five years without a real haircut, is saying a LOT! I can't stop gently swishing my hair around whenever I walk, lol. Thank you so much to Linda! I highly recommend her services and will definitely be returning again :)

Do yourself a favor and get your next haircut at Arrow Studio. It's in a prime location in downtown…read moreDurham, and has a chic, open feel that reminds me of New York City (which is where the owners are from). The waiting area has a gigantic chandelier, and the front desk is made from a wooden art piece that also serves as a product shelf and changing rooms-- you have to see it to believe it. But you can't mention Arrow Studio without talking about how fantastic Tiffany is. She used to cut my hair at her last employer before opening Arrow Studio, and I happily followed her, even though my drive is a bit longer now. It's worth it. Arrow Studio has custom-designed units at each haircut station that houses all the stylists' equipment, but also has a pull-out shelf for any personal items you bring (sunglasses, cell phone, etc.). There's also a coat rack near the front, which seems mundane, but I can't remember the last time I went to get a haircut and actually had someone take my coat. It's the little details that matter. The biggest downside is that parking in downtown Durham can be a doozy. But don't worry! There are two parking decks right beside Arrow, and you can get your ticket validated after your haircut. Check out Arrow Studio next time you need a haircut, coloring or styling. It's a much-welcomed addition to the blossoming downtown Durham homegrown business scene.
