[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place has the most horrendous customer service experience I've ever received in my life, and I've worked at a spa before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is going to be detailed. When you walk in, if you come in after sundown, you have to walk down a long dimly lit pathway outside to enter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, you'll find Elizabeth - probably the most argumentative and pushy front desk person I've ever encountered at a spa, raising her voice to talk to clients on the phone[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I'll get to how she treated me later. My massage therapist was 10 minutes late to the start time and I arrived early, [[HIGHLIGHT]]she had her AirPods in and couldn't hear me say anything and just kept repeating "sorry, 7:15" when my appointment was scheduled for 7:30 pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have had a horrible and stressful week and all I wanted to do was unwind and relax. Just wait for the rest. She led me through the main room which had people laying down for their massages completely not separated from each other and I had to walk even further to a room I was in, which was divided by thin draping and no door. You could hear every single ding from the microwave, every alarm on a phone, everyone talking basically three feet away from where you're laying in a compromising and undressed position. Absolutely ZERO privacy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Linda was HORRIBLE!!! Due to her having the AirPods in, she couldn't hear me when I said I was ready for the massage and I waited almost 10 unnecessary entire minutes for her to come back; the hallway was completely silent and I was just laying there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The massage therapist decided she would ignore all of my requests, and I expressly asked her not to massage my calves. She massaged them anyway and I almost had to move my leg quickly out of the way for her to stop. She clearly didn't understand a thing I was saying. She dropped oil, and I'm not joking, down the crack of my butt (I know) and took liberty upon herself to put her fingers inside a towel and wipe it. I really should've stopped it there but she kept insisting that she would continue and am I ok am I ok. I have a hard time being firm with strangers who are providing me a service, but she kept massaging areas that I told her were painful. Some guy outside the draping said "OH FUCK!" And he was quickly shushed, and I just had enough. I told her I didn't want to turn around, and then she put her fingers on the back of my scalp and dug into it, preventing me from moving, and massaged so hard that I still have a headache two hours later - she pinned me. Not only that, when she was done, I tried to get up and I was so dizzy I could barely stand and I was practically begging for her to leave me alone. She then got a massive soap bottle size of hand sanitizer and tried to put it on my arm, where I pointed to my tattoo and said loudly "NO. NEW TATTOO." Which I already told her before. It was like she was on drugs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I was done, I was gaslit by the receptionist that none of what I was saying was true, that I was wrong and misunderstanding the entire situation and I stayed for the whole massage so I was responsible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I COULDNT MOVE BECAUSE MY HEAD WAS PINNED TO THE TABLE. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I explained to her what happened and she denied every single thing I was saying. When I mentioned that I work in insurance and I've seen the spa on my client list before, she became incredibly aggressive and accused me of threatening her.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All I was saying is that I was aware of the liability policies they have to protect clients, and I didn't have to sign a waiver. That's the biggest deal. No waiver. I just had to sign for my credit card, which they still charged a deposit and every single text reminder said BRING CASH! BRING CASH! It was so irritating. Anyways, i left with a pounding headache and feeling nauseated, when all I wanted was a decent massage and a good nights sleep. Avoid this place - it needs to be shut down, and fast. These people are scam artists. read more

My second time here, I took my own advice and booked a much longer combo session. They call it the 40/40, which is an hour and 20 minutes split between foot massage and body massage. She was sweet, kind, and thoughtful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lisa gave me a face and scalp massage before starting on my feet, and noticed how much I enjoyed it. So when I moved into the private space for my body massage, she gave my scalp another go. I was in heaven! The areas I had requested to focus on were my shoulders, neck, hips and lower back. Lisa did a great job of balancing her time so all of my trouble areas got the therapy they needed. This felt like a perfect experience. We camp in Half Moon Bay often and somehow never noticed Cloud 9 Foot Spa sitting right off the busy road, but I'm so glad we finally did. I booked an appointment on a whim, which I rarely do because massages often feel disappointing and not worth the money for me. I'm really glad I was wrong!!!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was able to get in right away, and the woman at the front desk was warm and friendly, making the whole check-in process easy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I chose the 30/30 combo (30-minute foot massage plus 30-minute body massage), and the session took place in a calm common room that was quiet, comfortable, and much more relaxing than you'd expect given the busy road outside. The space was clean, comfortable, and felt very welcoming. Tom was absolutely fantastic. When he checked in about pressure and I told him he could go deeper, he delivered genuinely excellent deep tissue work on my neck, shoulders, and back. I was honestly amazed at how skilled he was and how much relief I felt by the end of the session. The whole experience was relaxing, effective, and felt like truly good value. Cloud 9 is now going to be a regular stop for us whenever we're visiting Half Moon Bay, and I will specifically request Tom every time. read more

Belen, Daniella and Elizabeth are the best receptionists who have been super helpful in scheduling me with my last minute appointments. They are friendly, helpful, and polite. There has been always a happy smile on their face when i got checked in or out of the spa. Thank you Belen, Daniella, and Elizabeth! Barry and Fred are my current favorite masseuses. If you have tight neck, shoulders and back, they will relieve all the tension. I like strong hands so if you can stand the serious pressure relieving your knots, I will recommend you to fill out the chart and indicate your level of pressure! Your message is completely inappropriate. Requesting WiFi, especially in a location with no cell coverage, is not a sign of disrespect. It's a reasonable ask, and your overreaction, both now and previously, is frankly baffling. Instead of simply saying no, you've turned a basic question into a lecture, and now you're attempting to shame me for asking twice. Blaming me for a therapist waiting while your front desk was busy is equally unacceptable. I showed up within 5 minutes of the appointment time and was polite throughout. If your internal scheduling is so fragile that a service related conversation can derail it, that's something for your team to address, not something to take out on a client. I also take issue with your comments about "respect." Respect goes both ways. Talking down to a customer, lecturing them after they say they don't want to "talk about it," and then following up again hours later is not respectful. It's intrusive and unprofessional. If you don't want me as a client, say so directly. But don't rewrite the story to paint me as a problem for calmly voicing concerns. That's gaslighting, and I won't accept it. read more

Cloud 9 in Half Moon Bay hires the best and strongest massage therapists - anywhere. I've even been to Thailand and had someone walking on my back in the style they are known for and it was a forgettable massage in terms of pressure and deep tissue relief. If you don't like strong massages (particularly on your feet), this is not the place for you and those of us who love it, don't want you to go here and ruin it for those of us who do need strong pressure because you can get a wimpy massage anywhere but you cannot get this kind of skillful pressure anywhere that I can find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I want to praise Alice in particular. My sister's husband recommended her to me as a therapist who can give a strong massage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He and my sister had massages together at Cloud 9 the day before I went and I'm so thankful he told me about Alice. Went in for an hour body and foot massage for $60. I really wasn't expecting much because of the price and that there wasn't individual rooms but it was really great. I almost fell asleep during the foot massage. Very relaxing. The body massage was nice too. It didn't feel like they were beating up my body but instead it felt they were stretching it out. I was skeptical because I had injured my upper back exercising a few days earlier but the massage did it wonders. I highly recommend! Wasn't a big deal for me but it might for others- you keep your clothes on because it is a shared space but they use oil so don't wear any clothes that care may get ruined. read more

She is well trained and knowledgeable in her kraft. She gives an amazing massage! We have also had several 60 minute couples massages with Alice and Amy. We always request them when we book. And I've gone in for 30 minute foot massages with my girlfriends after gathering for lunch and a beach walk on the coast. Super fun! I've seen several comments here of people complaining about tipping. But their pricing is low and the therapist work hard and provide a good service. I'm happy to tip generously. She's one of the first LMT that really changed the focus of what she was doing based on my initial ask. My shoulders and arms were super tight and I needed a reset. I booked a massage for myself and my mom yesterday. I currently am partially handicapped and they were extremely accommodating and understanding of what I needed done. Upon entering, the two ladies at reception were nice upon greeting and helped make sure our reservation was correct. The atmosphere from the moment you step in was not only inviting and clean, but calming as well. Cindy was professional and worked on the areas I needed most. She was great and I will definitely be booking with her again. My mom had James, she said he was professional, understanding and courteous of her issues with her shoulder and he did a great job in working out the "boulders" (knots) in her shoulders. Took my mom out for a 70th birthday mini vacation to Half Moon Bay. I asked her what she wanted to do, and she said the only thing she wanted to do is get a foot massage. The first thing I thought was yikes, I bet there are no 'foot massage' parlors here and I will have to spend and arm and a leg (possibly an ear) to do a massage at the Ritz. Lo and behold, I found this place. Booking online was easy (have to create an account), and if you have 3+ people, as we did, you need to pay for one of the services up front, which was fine. I know how people cancel all the time, so they are just making sure they are paid for the time they reserved for your service. The place is easy to find, and there is a standalone lot; parking is easy. Upon entry, there is a small reception area, and we were greeted by a lovely young lady whose name I forgot...Samantha....Stephanie? Shout out to her as she was very friendly. Our masseuses were Linda and Cindy (forgot the 3rd person's name). All did a great job. BTW, this place is HUGE! We came on a Tuesday, but my guess is they get pretty booked on the weekends bc this place had like 4-5 rooms and 10+ beds in each room. I liked that it was clean, staff was very nice and they all had hands of gold. BTW - if you are not familiar with a 'foot massage' it's actually a full body massage with your clothes on, in a communal room. If you prefer a real massage, they do offer it for a little more. Also, although they have a sign on how to tip, I tipped even more bc technically, I am basing my tip off what I WOULD'VE spent at an American spa. I tipped $25 for my 90-min massage which was $70 to begin with. Sure, that's a high percentage, but given I prob would've paid $60 for tip at an American place, $25 didn't sound bad at all. As id never been I called to obtain information regarding the differences in massages and how everything worked. The receptionist Melissa is great, informative and professional and kind. This guy could permanently mess up somebody's body... thank god I left when I did. Booked a 40/40 foot massage and regular massage. It was supposed to be 40 minutes both foot and body. I did not get the full time for either massage, and neither did anybody else in my party. The front desk persuaded me to prepay, which I did, as she told me there would be several other customers waiting to pay when I finished. There was nobody "waiting" to pay when I was done. It was a ploy. Moral of the story: NEVER PREPAY FOR ANYTHING read more
