I and my cats Ryan & Sunshine have been clients of CTH since September 2023 and have had two separate trips where they have visited our babies. CTH has 4 cat homes in our neighborhood who are clients and we all love them! Ben & Brooklyn are the sitters we have had so far, but there are more. There are so many great parts of this company that I can't pick just one. - The sitters really love and care for the animals! We have one cat who's such a ham and wants pets forever, and another who is more shy. They take the time with the shy one, and let her warm up to them which she eventually has! And they get just as excited about it as I do :) - You get text message updates after every visit with a play-by-play for the visit, and they include photos! It was something we asked boarding places for and they said they said "we don't do that." The pictures are especially nice. ** The photos attached to this review are ones that our sitters have sent :) - Scheduling is so easy. You just go online into the calendar on your account, and you can choose days, times (morning and evening, up to 2x/day), and length of visit. You can choose if you need medications administered as well. - They are transparent and absolutely fair in their cost. I've found it to be comparable to boarding, and the benefit is they get to stay home in their own environment and aren't kept in a small enclosure for so much of their day. - They're extremely kind, diligent, and careful, especially with our cat who's a runner when the door opens. I'm no longer nervous or feel guilty about going out of town because we can choose longer visits for our sitters; our babies will still lots of snuggles and play time! read more

The owner Drew is extremely kind and considerate, and really went out of his way to accommodate dog walks with me even though I have a chaotic work schedule. I am incredibly happy with Close to Home. We used to board our dog at Downtown Dog Lounge, but they've started overcrowding dogs. (We found out our dog spent most of a 10 day visit in a hallway!!! Unacceptable. He also got kennel cough) We realized we needed to keep our dog safer, allow him more space, and a secure feeling. After a long search, we found Close to Home. The owner is a great guy, and we met with our dog walker, Joanna. Right away my dog loved her, sitting in her lap and nuzzling her. These are people who are passionate about dogs, and it really shows. We've now used Close to Home for our last two trips, and couldn't be happier. In fact, I think our dog is sad when we come home! ;-) He gets great walks and cuddles from Joanna, and she even sends us a daily picture from their walk. It was scary, at first, to leave him at home, but we now have full confidence that he will be in great hands. It's also nice knowing our dog can sleep in his bed and have his toys. I highly recommend this service. They care about your pets, they give them tremendous and sincere affection, and we wouldn't use anyone else for future pet services. read more

If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with my cats. I love them even when they're mad at me and they love themselves even when they're mad at me. (How it goes for cat owners, right?). Being that we travel to a few places a couple of times a year where our cats cannot (or will not) go with us, it's so REFRESHING to have people you can trust to treat our pets (they're more like our children) just as we would treat them. We would never dream of kenneling them and would never do what some people and just leave out a massive bowl of food. So it is nice to know Julie, how kind she is to all animals and her level of personal responsibility. It makes such a difference for us and our cats when we are away and they have someone come to them (once again, the life of a cat owner) and cater to their every little prissy need. We have 2 smaller dogs--and they have major social anxiety and bad behaviors on walks :( Drew and his team (especially his sister Tami -who is a DREAM) did not blink an eye at being able to handle our nutty pups. The other thing that meant the world to us-was how professional and respectful they are at all times. Calling ahead if they knew we were home sick--letting us know they were coming in. Very pro-in ways that you don't always find in the pet care world. One time, we completely forgot we had changed the walk schedule with them--and WE FORGOT to go home and walk the dogs! We called Drew and Tami and within 15 minutes they were on it and to the rescue. We had a really bad petsitting experience the last time we went out of town, so we started looking early for an upcoming tentative vacation. I explained our worries to Julie and she was amazingly understanding and helpful. She agreed to come out and meet us before our plans were settled to help us feel comfortable. We have a pretty large dog who is extremely socially awkward and shy! Julie was amazing with him and got him to warm up to her much quicker than anyone else has before. She wasn't phased by all of the "special needs" that our furry kids have and was very accommodating. Overall; she was very helpful and comforting and appeared to know her stuff very well. We have not used her services yet and may not need to for this trip, but will definitely be keeping her information for future walks and/or overnight stays! read more

We asked Drew to walk our dog when I went back to work a few months ago. Our dog is extremely shy with new people and had never had another person walk her. Drew and Tami were so patient with her and expertly built her confidence and trust. She is now more outgoing and less shy with new people. Over the months, Drew was in constant touch with me about her progress and was so proud of her when she was able to make the transition to daycare. I had a concern after a surgery my cat had received and I was on a business trip. Drew dropped in a day early to check my cat, sent me video and discussed with me different options. When my concern did not subside, we discussed options and Drew set up a Vet appointment on a Sunday for me since I was across the country. Update based on the Owner Drew's reply to this review: We never asked anyone to "measure" our cats water or urine deposits. We simply said to MONITOR his water consumption and urine clumps (because drinking too much could mean his diabetes has returned). This would not be life threatening if he drank too much water, just a symptom. Those two words mean completely different things so get it straight. Obviously we want the best for our pet so if he was in need of medical attention daily, we'd definitely get him better professional care. ----- We used Close to Home back in April when we went on vacation for 8 days. We have 2 cats; one of them is in remission from diabetes. He's a happy and healthy cat now, no more diabetes! A cat in remission didn't seem to be a problem in April. The schedulers and sitters were very friendly and took great care of our cats. The portal and payment was great and the whole experience went smoothly. However this Thanksgiving holiday, we planned to go away for 4 days and requested cat sitting services again. Drew, the owner of the company replied our request and asked us to be patient while he figured out the scheduling over the busy holiday season. Fair enough, we waited, then after giving us the b.s. runaround about schedule constraints, he denied our request for cat care and told us to use a vet tech. Mind you, this is a few days before we were supposed to go on vacation and when most pet care companies were completely booked and not taking new clients. He put us in a predicament and we had to find a new provider/sitter on extremely short notice during peak season. We suspected something was going on that he wouldn't tell us. We later found out that he had a diabetic cat die under his care over the holidays last year. Although this situation was tragic and we empathize with the guilt he must be feeling, we're not the same case and shouldn't be treated the same especially when they happily took our business back in April with the exact same situation. The experience with this company (and Drew) now vs. earlier this year are night and day and we're glad we've moved on because something is just not right here. read more
