Do not bother purchasing a warranty through them. At the time of signing, I was pressured into keeping the warranty by KJ in the finance department. I was told I wouldn't qualify for the same APR if I declined it. That influenced my decision in the moment. A few weeks later, when I called to ask about canceling, KJ in the finance department gave me misleading information. He told me I should wait a few months to cancel to avoid fees--when in reality, waiting would have reduced my refund. Canceling earlier would have resulted in a full refund. The warranty would have cost about $3,500 over the full term (before interest), and it is only a partial warranty that doesn't even cover key features like Autonomous Driving Systems or other add-ons. On top of that, it is not backed by Toyota--it is a third-party warranty. Overall, the process felt misleading and not transparent. You're better off skipping the warranty altogether. read more

Unfortunately had to come back and lower my rating significantly. -Bought a car 9/30 -Received random paperwork the next week of everything I had already signed, with highlighted areas presumably for me to sign again. No explanation whatsoever. -Called and left voicemails with the financing manager multiple times, finally on 3rd or 4th attempt the receptionist physically got him on the phone. I learned the paperwork was incorrect and needed resigned- ok, things happen and I get that, but an explanation would be fantastic before docs arrive that I previously signed. -Today is 11/14, and as I still have not received my new registration/tax bill (I live in SC), I called the dealership to see if they knew what the holdup was. Luckily I happened to get the title clerk, who explained that nothing had been sent to the DMV yet. The salesperson and/or finance manager was supposed to reach back out to me for my insurance card. Shocking no one, they didn't, and this has been sitting for over a month. -My registration expires at the end of Nov, so now I get to just wait and hope this is resolved before then. -I would reach out to speak to management with this feedback, but I have spent enough time chasing things down for them. Ran a Cargurus request to sell my vehicle and Cloninger's offer was quite a bit higher than others in the area BUT once I got there for them to look over the vehicle, their REAL offer was several thousand lower with the excuse of one tire had some wear and tear and the used car appraiser heard a "rattle" when the vehicle got over 40MPH. Humm....really? No explanation of what he thought this "rattle" was but I found there was a coin in the glove box that might be the cause.... For this, they expected me to take several thousand less so I said no the walked out. They also said, well Cargurus is a business and they aren't bound by any quote they post there. Really? Worked with Nat to buy a Used 2021 Nissan Murano Platinum. I was looking at the car digitally from my home state of Tennessee. Nat took every call, helped with every request for pictures and explanations of the car. He was very honest and friendly. When I made the drive out to North Carolina (7hrs), Nat and the team had the car ready. A quick test drive confirmed this was the car for me. We got back in and started on the paperwork. I had told Nat prior that I was paying cash for the car, and he kindly never brought up financing to me or pressured me to reconsider (very kind and uncommon). The paperwork process took a little longer since I was an out of state client, but got done nonetheless. Just drove home last night and am so pleased with the car. I was selling a car on Facebook and a salesman from Cloninger Toyota reached out to me through Facebook with his number for me to call him , saying that the dealership was very interested in my car and would I be willing to bring my car up to the dealership so they could look at it. His name was Alex and I made it clear to him that this wasn't a fire sell and I didn't want to drive 45 minutes to be offered a low ball price for my car and he assured me that wasn't the case. Alex assured me that my price(13,500) was a very reasonable price and that if they liked the car we could move forward with the sale. I was to ask for the manager when I got there, whom I had an appointment made and he wasn't there nor was Alex(had the day off) so someone else looked at my car , said the car was in good shape, some minor scrapes that they could take care of and proceeded to offer me 10,500 for my car. I took my wife's Lexus RX 330 for the oil change and tire rotation special for $59.95. When I got done, they charge me $91.00. I ask the service writer why the price difference and she said the price of oil must have gone up. She left my car key on her desk so I had to come back inside the service bay to pick it up. I found out when I got home that they forgot my wheel lock so I had to make a seperrate trip back to the dealership to get my wheel lock key back. She didn't have the common curtesy to call to let me know that they forgot my wheel lock key. They have lost my business. I am having my car service some place else. They will rip you off every time. I had my Camry Hybrid in for routine 10,000 mile service. After waiting 2 hours, it was ready to go. No cost. That night I parked in my sisters driveway for 3 hours, and then parked in my own garage overnight. Next morning... I find quarts of slippery, clean oil underneath my car in the garage. ALmost no oil left in the car based on the dipstick. Took it back to Toyota. Because I'm a female, I guess, they tried to tell me that the gasket that goes on the oil plug "had a crack in it which caused this", and they shrugged their shoulders saying "sometimes this just happens". They showed me the gasket, and there might have been an itty bitty little 'score' in it. Truth be told, the only way that volume of oil could have leaked in that short amount of time is if the technician failed to tighten the oil plug when he changed the oil. Why they couldn't just admit it, I don't know. They added oil again and replaced the plug gasket. And they never bothered to apologize. So, the 'no cost' service from Toyota has cost me a permanently marred garage floor, permanently marred driveway at my sister's, an emergency trip to the dealer, plus it put me at severe risk of worse problems had I not seen that literal quarts of oil had spilled out. read more

You see that they have a rating of 2.5. Its very accurate! Do not buy a car from them. The reason being is that their former detailer (got fired) had messed my paint up before delivery and I went back and forth with the manager that if its going to be fixed I want a warranty on the clear coat because the detailer burnt some of it while he prepared the car. So long story short they didn't uphold their deal of fixing it correctly and putting a year or 2 warranty on it because the manager told me that he wants to fix it as cheap as possible. So I actually had someone else do it and put a warranty on it so I can have a peace of mind (even though I had paid a small amount). So buyers beware. I would go somewhere else and purchase a Toyota like at Scott Clark or something, but not Cloninger. My star is a fat 0 for experience!!!!!! Weather it's on the phone or in person, they never make you feel like you're being taken advantage of, and they make sure to know every answer you have about a vehicle or service on your car. I was so happy to purchase a brand new car for the first time. purchased my car but had to wait a week on insurance money to come to pick up my car. My husband came to pick it up, first they said to come later because windows still were not tinted after having it for a week. Then they brought out the wrong car not even the same color. so they asked my husband to wait or come back. They took him home and told him it would be delivered. I bought a new Camry in 2021. The sales staff was friendly, not overly pushy and I left feeling like I got a good deal. Service department operates in an entirely different world. At 5000 miles a service alert came on in my car. I knew the oil wasn't due to be changed until 10000 miles so assumed it was for tire rotation. This proved to be true. Since I had some travelling to do and was not anxious about the tire rotation it was at 7500 miles before I took the car in. I told the service rep I would like to wait on the tire rotation until the oil change was due at 10000 miles but could you please reset the alarm so it doesn't keep coming on. An hour later I got my car back, oil changed and tires rotated. When I confronted the service rep I was accused of lying. At 15000 miles I was due for tire rotation and an annual inspection. I decided to have oil changed at this time so moving forward my oil changes would be at 25000, 35000, etc. Easy for me to remember. Made the appointment, no problem. At 20000 miles the service alert comes on for my tire rotation. I called for an appointment and was told I needed an oil change too. I explained everything above and the service rep said the car wasn't due for an oil change at 15000 so they didn't do it. So my car hasn't had an oil change since 7500 miles and it is now at 20000? Yes I'm upset and I'm sure my voice reflected that but I never yelled and never swore. But while trying to explain all this to the rep, she hung up on me. I'm 65 years old and have never been treated this way by one, let alone two service reps. I am now forfeiting the balance of my free oil changes and tire rotations that came with the new car. I have no confidence in these people. To the sales staff, you have your service department to thank. I will never buy another car from Cloninger. read more

They didn't even have the car pictured that I was approved for.They had used a picture of a totally different car then what they had there. One they had on the lot was too old and they wanted too much money for it. Salesman even admitted that they hadn't had time to take a picture of the one he brought around to show me, they used another picture of a different car. Not even the same year, color, or model. I bought a brand new vehicle from this location a week ago; it was delivered to my house. When I decided to go for a drive I found out it's emergency brake wasn't engaging so I didnt drive. I called next day and was told to take it to closer dealership and get checked. I was also told that warranty will cover it so I called the local dealership. They told me to leave it and take loaner car till they look into it. I couldn't make it and my wife refused to drop it off as she considered it as unsafe to drive. Being from west coast and living in the mountains emergency brake is the first thing we use before parking any vehicle. Anyways I called again and was told to bring it back to Salisbury Ford dealership and they will check the. I end up driving 35 miles to Salisbury Ford last Saturday and they tweeked the brake which worked for couple times but still they didnt make me the key. Moving on, last weekend my wife drove it and ebrake didnt engage again so I had to deal with that whole situation. I talked to couple of people and found out that this is not the same model I went to purchase. Also, this vehicle might have been used because of the scratches we found and a used baby nipple under the driver seat. Took it to local ford dealership again to get the ebrake checked and they said leave it for couple of days. I mean seriously I bought a brand new vehicle and less than a week I'm making trips back to dealership to get it fixed. They pretty much entrapped me into buying this vehicle with false advertisement. The vehicle in the add did not have all the functions which were mentioned in the add. Salesman pointed that out and I asked the salesman to show me similar vehicle; that is when I was talked into lower price but salesman never mentioning lower model. I still have snapshots of the advertisement. If you are buying a new vehicle be aware of this place. Update: finally had a day off and I'm at Huntersville Ford to get the key fixed which they finally sent after a month. This is my 3rd time already making trips back to dealership to get this brand new vehicle fixed. Update: plastic parts on the roof of the SUV are falling off; I haven't even driven 1500 miles yet. Buyer Beware!!! Dealing with this dealership from our sales man(Jon Wirz) to the service department, most recently have been the most horrid experiences EVER! The salesman started with more lies than I can count, promises never for-filled! The service department though, oh, the service department! What a disgrace to even call it that?! There is no service, no CUSTOMER SERVICE! The only people working in that department are hateful, rude and just down right nasty and should NOT be working with the public. To make matters worse, because of the horrible experience I had yesterday I ask to see the customer service manager and I was told he doesn't meet with "walk ins". Okay, so I called and had to leave a message asking him to call me back to discuss what took place yesterday. This was yesterday morning and I have yet to hear from him, the manager. I went with my nephew to shop for his first new car. We did a ton of research and knew what we wanted - a 4Runner with black wheels - we sat down with the salesman and he assured us he could get this car. They gave us a written price. The next day my nephew returned to complete everything. Suddenly the price went up $1000. He decided to proceed. Only AFTER he had signed all the paperwork was he told that he would not be getting the black wheels, that they would be an additional $3000. We were very clear in our initial discussion what we wanted. This was a classic bait and switch. This dealership took advantage of a young man who was very excited about his first new car purchase. I do not recommend this dealership. If you want a Toyota then RUN, don't walk, to another dealership! If there were less stars I would give less. Unfortunately, you can't trust anyone these days, one of the repairman was so weak when the opportunity existed for him to help himself to someone else's money that was located where the lug key was for the new tires they sold us, he took a nice pot filled with change. Then pilfered through the glove compartment without a courtesy call for anything he ever searched for and found, threw a pair of shades on the passenger floor side, threw mints on the rear seat floor and sat back there for what unknown reason because Lexus gave me floor mats that were new and unstepped on until this person used them. In the past when I didn't go to Johnson Lexus of Raleigh, I've never had an issue there or at other Toyota dealerships. I thought for convenience I could trust my area shop. Nothing could've been further from the truth. Take my advice and all others, don't be a victim of Cloningers. Read and take heed to the reviews. You won't regret it. If I could give negative stars I would. I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time, gas, and wear and tear on my car driving a hour to the dealership... two times. Sales staff will not return calls. Sales Managers claim they will give the best price out the door. Just to find out the price they have online is better already then there BEST out the door price. Tried selling them my wife's 2015 Lexus for like over a week. Was waiting on the salesman to call me back a week later never did so I drove back to the dealership. approached the salesman and told him who I was took him a good 5 mins of me talking and telling him who I was and what deal we was working on before he caught on. Claimed he called me back but did not. So I spoke with the sales Manager and told him the story He even tried covering for his sales staff. and I wanted a different salesman. Was just in the dealership yesterday signed papers to sell my car and was told they be at my house first thing today. I called at 9 am Sales Manager in a meeting. I called back again at 1 pm left a message to another Sales Manager to him to call me still nothing so I called back again 2 pm finally spoke with the right guy. Was told it would be later in the day before they could come. Well thanks for wasting my entire day now. So I guess me telling him the facts of what was going on over the last week he did not like hearing it and said he did not want to buy my car now. If this the way you do business then I don't want anything to do with it. Might explain why the dealership has a terrible rating. Read reviews I learned my lesson. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Worst experience ever and we will never go here ever again! My parents recently purchased a 2016 RAV 4 from this place. This is their 3rd car that they have purchased from there since 2000 and will definitely be the last one we ever buy from this place again. The salesman "Mike" bald headed guy - is a total liar. The manager Don, is also a liar! They don't know what they're talking about. Total rip off and totally unprofessional. To say you work in a customer service environment is a total disgrace! They both need to get fired. First of all, my parents went to go look at the cars on a Friday. The one they wanted was an AWD, they looked at a FWD and wanted exactly everything that car had. This car my parents wanted was not in that lot. Mike the salesman told them he would get it from another lot and have it delivered by tomorrow (Sat) and for my parents to go back and pick it up. My parents had requested that they wanted Michelin tires on this car because the one they looked @ had Michelin tires. Mike told them not a problem and that he would get it for them. My parents were not allowed to leave on Friday until they signed paperwork to purchase and secure that the car will be brought by the next day! So Saturday comes, we go to get the car. Tires were WRONG! There were Continental brand tires on there. The outside of the car was dirty - there were splotches of I don't know what on the car. My mom tells Mike that the car did not have Michelin tires. He goes "yeah I couldn't do it for you.. but these tires.. they are german tires.. just as good.." Still my mom was pissed! She said I already told you yesterday over and over again.. you said "not a problem" and that "you would get them for me". He goes yeah.. but I couldn't.. but my Mom was still upset.. So he said okay, but the body shop is closed on Saturday and that they will need to bring the car back on Monday. Well that pissed my Mom off again and me as well. How inconvenient for us. We live about 45 minutes away and now we have to drive back on Monday! Mike promised us that he would put another full tank of gas for my parent's car since they have to come back on Monday. So then we finally get ready to leave. My dad turns on the ignition and the car had 323 miles on there! A brand new car and over 300 miles already in it. So we ask Mike, why does this car have over 300 miles already? And he said oh because it came from Georgia. There were no other cars around here besides Georgia.. so they DROVE IT to Salisbury! That pissed my parents off again! Mike did not disclose that that car was coming from GA. If they would've known they would have just said forget and not sign paperwork to purchase it. But as we can see now, the salesman wanted my parents to buy a car from him. So now we're screwed for the 2nd time that day. We go home with the car and noticed the back part of the trunk that pulls over to cover your stuff in the trunk was not there. My parents said Mike showed them a rav 4 @ the lot and told them that ALL THE RAV4s come with that piece. So my dad goes there on Monday to get the tires swapped out and told Mike that.. Then Mike goes no that part doesn't come with the car and that pissed my Mom off again! The manager Don, came to talk with them. He was being a jerk to my parents as well but ended up ordering that piece for their car which they said was $300. Told my parents they would need to come back the next day to pick it up again! my parents were pissed.. They just drove 45 min there and 45 min back home and the salesman called them right when my dad got home and tell him to come back and get it and that the part is there now.. My parents were not driving back to get it. Mike also REFUSED to put gas in my parent's new car after he already promised them he would on Saturday when he told them lie #1!!!!!! I called and spoke with Don, the sales manager and I told him about this. My parents speak/understand limited english. We felt they were discriminated and lied to. Don was speaking over me the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME! I couldn't even explain myself without hollering cause this guy is talking over me. Customer service rule #1, listen fully to the complaint. This guy kept talking over me every time I tried to explain what's going on.. He then had the nerves to tell me that my parents shouldn't be upset because they RECEIVED FREE SERVICES AND THAT THE PART THEY ORDER WAS OVER $300 and THAT'S BASICALLY FREE FOR THEM!! No, my parents had the right to be upset! The salesman is a total liar. He lied to them too many times. Made them come back and forth too many times. It's inconvenient! My parents were not happy with their new car. Don then said if my parents can't come the next day then he will just keep the part there. I told him we were not coming to get it and for him to mail it to them. He said okay he would and I asked him if he had the address to their home and he said it's somewhere in the paperwork and that he'll find it read more

Dishonest service center, we are considering legal action for unfair and deceptive trade practices. They were rude on the phone, and did not communicate vital information well. We took in our Prius because of a warning light. They were unable to diagnose it the first time and supposedly turned off the warning lights. As we picked it up, the warning lights were still on. After a weekend of trying to diagnose it ourselves, they informed us that the codes said it was the battery. We took it back in and had to plead with them to take a look at the brake actuator which is under recall. I had to show them the recall letter because they lied on the phone about the recall. I doubt they actually looked at the car and simply read the codes from the warning light. They did not seem knowledgable about our car. It was the worst waste of $100 for them to tell us what Autozone does for free. If you have a Prius or hybrid take it to Carolina Hybrids in Charlotte, they know what they are doing. read more
