I want to give a shout out to my salesman Anthony Butler at Cloninger Ford in Salisbury, NC!!! He was knowledgeable, kind and understanding of my needs. I had my eye on my NEW baby a 2017 Subaru Outback, and he went above and beyond to make sure I got the keys to give it a test drive. Even though filling out tons of paperwork is tedious, Anthony was very accommodating the entire time, even past 9pm. I would highly recommend Anthony for anyone interested in purchasing from Cloninger Ford. Patience and kindness can take you far in this world...Im grateful for everyone who helped make my buying process smooth! :) read more

Don't buy from them! I had a car totaled in January of this year. When I had picked out a car from them, they offered to deliver it to me as we waited for the insurance payment which would have covered the cost of the Cloninger car. un, the insurance payout was delayed so they took the car back. I called them this am to get paperwork to show that so that I could show the state of NC that I no longer had the car as of X date. This is important because I needed to show that in order to get my car insurance funds back. The refund from the insurance company to me was to be in excess of $1000 For I had paid it in full. Again, I called this am for simple paperwork to prove to the state the date that Cloninger took the car back. A very unprofessional and caustic man, refused once I told them the needed information. Again, required by the state of NC and the insurance company A very simple request and he became belligerent in his Refusal. This,,after I had explained the requirement 3 times. Not happy at all!!!! Now I have to deal with the sdta I will say that if you go ahead and deal with Cloninger, work with Omar. He was delightful and very helpful. read more

I took my truck to them around the first week of June to have the oil changed and tires rotated. I had an 8:45 appointment. I got there about 8:35 and they got my vehicle checked in promptly. After that I got waited for a couple of hours with no updates, so I went out in the bay and asked about the status of my truck. I was advised that everyone was in a meeting. Then I waited another hour before finally being informed that my truck was ready. Really?? Almost 3 hours for an oil change and tire rotation?? read more

My vehicle's transmission was rebuilt under warranty at approximately 59,000 miles in March 2024. Less than two years later, in January 2026--and only about 38,000 miles after the rebuild--the transmission has failed again. Despite the relatively low mileage since the rebuild, Ford has declined to warranty or support the repair. This is extremely disappointing. A rebuilt transmission should reasonably last far longer than 38,000 miles, and Ford's refusal to stand behind its own work reflects very poorly on the brand. Additionally, the customer service I received from the service department was unacceptable. Rather than offering assistance or accountability, I was simply told that nothing would be done. read more

Absolutely terrible service. Please, please don't buy from here unless you want to get scammed. Showed up to my SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, which I drove 2 hours for.. They didn't have the keys to the car! So no test drive, just had to turn around and drive home... Also, the description said "minor cosmetic issues" which apparently means "Large crack in bumper and headlight, dents throughout the body of the car.". To make it right, they said they would drive it to me for a test drive. I tried negotiating price and they said someone else was already test driving it. DON'T TRUST THEM! read more

My (95) year old father brought a Motorcraft battery to them for warranty that he bought at Cloniger Ford, the battery would not stay charged, goes dead in two days without even being hooked to the battery terminals of the vehicle, they told him they would have to charge and test it and would have an answer by 11am, he received no call so he went back and they told him they weren't able to get it on the tester yet and that it would be later in the afternoon, they called him and then told him it would be the next day, he went back up there around lunch time and they told him their tester was broken and they couldn't replace it without testing it. Something they do not realize is that he was a certified Fost master technician for 30 years and I was a certified Ford master technician for 33 years and fully understand they are lying and no Ford dealership would only have (ONE) tester and leave their customers stranded over a tester, especially a 95 year old customer! A few years ago he took a vehicle to them for a front end alignment, they put it on the alignment machine, then came out and told him he needed an eccentric kit installed to do the alignment and multiple other steering components, he told them we had already replaced the parts they were trying to sell him and that we had already installed the eccentrics kit before it was brought to them and that he wanted his vehicle back, they refused to let him have it back until he paid for an alignment he never got so being in his 90s he paid it so he could leave, he lives with my wife and I so I immediately drove it back up there, demanded they put it on the lift in front of the service manager and show me everything they put on the estimate and as I stated they had already been replaced and the service manager admitted it and refunded his money. Needless to say we will never use their dealership again, especially knowing they have no issues doing this to elderly. read more

Drove 3.5 hours one way to look at a vehicle that I would have purchased if everything checked out but it was in the process of being sold when I arrived. The person that was supposed to call me back never did. I made five attempts and left two messages for the person at Cloninger Ford to call me back, AND left the time that I left house heading to Salisbury. Instead, they sent an EMAIL while I was traveling to Cloninger Ford in Salisbury. How stupid can they be!!! THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK...WHAT A WASTED TRIP!!!! read more

Bought Ram Rebel with 42,500 miles and now it has 46,500 and I need new motor! That will cost me 10,000$, they really won't even try to help out or make it right! I call can't get a call back, I email and can't get a response, and they wonder why people think car dealers are worthless! I know I'm screwed and will be responsible for the repair but they could've at-least try and trade me out somewhat comparable to what I have in it just to do me right but they want me to eat all realistic cost and lose ten thousand more. These guys did a great job on my 2020 Chrysler Pacifica after a rear end accident. Parts did take a bit longer then expected but it was not their fault the parts mfg held them up. Steven W was a great salesperson. He went above and beyond. No pressure. Very helpful. Highly recommend.

I received a written recall notice for my Ford Edge, that my brake booster (whatever that does) was proven defective, that even though the warranty was expired, and my vehicle has exceeded the mileage they indicated, Ford will pay for any needed replacement for defective parts, plus labor. First of all, the service consultant argued about this over the phone with me trying to "get out" of servicing my car. They had nothing to lose, and Ford Corp would have paid them to do any work should there be issues. All I wanted was an inspection to see if there was issues, as I had not really noticed anything out of the ordinary with my braking. After fussing, this lady finally made me an appointment for an inspection: 2 weeks or so in advance??? I brought the car in as asked (8 a.m.) and you know, that car sat in their parking lot until 2 p.m. without the plan to even see it that day! Great service, folks. As if my time didn't matter? An inspection would last 15 minutes? I'm not sure. But even after my planning to have my car there just to inspect, I was put in the back of the parking lot with many other souls. I could have gone to Randy Marion and probably gotten much better treatment. By 1 p.m., I called to say, let's call it a day. I'll take my car elsewhere. Maybe. My shuttle driver, however was excellent. Had a great demeanor, picked me up from home as he said. I suppose, he would get the other 4 starts. But the Service Department? Needs some oil in managing the service scheduling. read more

If I could give zero, I would. We live in Tennessee and I bought a new truck at cloninger ford, Salisbury, nc on 4/4/25 after we take the truck back home the engine light turned on. we contact the salesman if our truck have any problems before he said no. The same thing when I ask him the day we get a truck he said our truck is perfect, new and never have problems. We take to the dealership to fix to many time the same problem the same code till I realize I pay so much money for this truck to see my truck sit at the dealership. This is insane and unfair for us. We still been very nice try to talk to the manager or get a hold to someone above to get the deal and be done with it. but we never get a hold from anyone. I put to someone will call you back. the last thing we hear from them is. you can get a new one but we will have up side drown around $5000 and this is not our fault. We have someone check the truck vin number for us turn out this truck have the same problem before we bought. that mean the salesman been lie to us and act like never happen. They never know how much headache we have for this truck. We pay so much money we want to keep it for long term but we concerned about safety. We have a kid. Can you all tell me if the engine light on the whole time if one day some very bad thing happened how do we know? When the engine light already on or if it happens to your family do you all gonna say like nothing wrong? and turn out it have a problem since day one and seem like no one care. I have 1 and 2 year old kid and I work full time. Anytime we need to drop the truck to dealership it just to difficult for us. It not just one time I believe is more then 20 time already. We dropped 2 different dealerships and seem like the same code and they been changed so many things and still engine light turn back on. They also don't know what to fix anymore. Till they need to contact the manufacturer what to do And seem like no one can fix this problem. And the dealer never responded at all. read more

This review would have 0 stars if it would get approved. My mother brought her 2021 ford F150 platinum edition in for a simple 4 wheel drive error code. Instead of the simplicity of re greasing the lug nut, a "mechanic" said he hit an oil truck with it. The damages and the story do NOT align. Not only that, but my mother had a dash cam. These individuals took her truck to run personal errands and left that footage on her dash cam, but conveniently deleted the footage of when they wrecked her truck. They estimated repairs to be $13k and said they would fix the truck without a report to carfax. This is 100% illegal. My mother being not only a Veteran, served her country honorably for over 20 years, plus another 15 years as a federal employee. This was her retirement present to herself and her dream truck. Not only did the dealership keep lying about what really happened to her truck, they also would refuse to communicate actively with her. She had to keep going to the dealership in order to search for answers. After over a month of fighting with this piss poor dealership, they then had her settle on a truck that was missing some of the qualities the wrecked on had. If it wasn't for my help searching for trucks, they would have tried to offer her an even worse truck. After everything was said and done, my mother had to end up paying full price on a 2024 F150 platinum with the powerboost generator. I wouldn't trust this dealership with anything!! NOT only did they treat a Veteran this way, but the fact that the owner of the dealership didn't even seem to care it happened! I 100% know that if my mother didn't get the Attorney General and Ford Motor Company headquarters involved, this would have been swept under the rug. read more

My cousin, retired Navy veteran, took her expensive 2021 Ford platinum in for service. A guy wrecked it while backing it out of their bay!!! $13, 000 in damages. Cloninger "offered" to repair it under the table so that it would not show on Carfax. Isn't that illegal? For our system she did not bring a wreck to vehicle and she did not want a repaired wrecked vehicle returned to her. She had hoped they would offer a new vehicle with a discount of the value of her truck BEFORE THEY WRECKED IT. They offered a used LARIAT....in place of a platinum with generator on it. Still in negotiations after attorney general notification, Ford motor company and her attorney. Cloninger Ford in Salisbury does not respect other people's property, American veterans have no value. Zero customer respect or appreciation after they destroy the value of F150 platinum dream truck . SHADY AND DISHONARABLE. read more

My experience with this dealership was disappointing. There was unauthorized charges, put on the bill for my vehicle. How I found this out once was, earlier in the day, I had called to see when my vehicle was going to be ready because it was already almost in a week and a half overdue. I received a text message on my way to pick up the vehicle because I was told it would be ready at five. Within that message it showed the balance due. And we responded with there should be no balance because there was nothing authorized. The response to this was a sarcastic "You wanted it fixed so we got it fixed". When we arrived, we immediately wanted to speak to the leader of the dealership, we did. We got directed to the office. Two men looked over our service bill and discussed the issue with us. The found the service advisor that has sent the message. They immediately apologized for the issue, and even admitted that there is communication problems within this dealership. They took care of the problem immediately. One of the men kindly walked us to the front desk where our bill was going to be adjusted. When we got to the front desk, the man had already began to discuss the issue with the service advisor. Her name is Ashley Perry. she was immediately upset. And she made another comment of " that was the body shops doing so that's not our fault" "so we are just paying this out-of-pocket". The man that is trying to take the unauthorized chargers off of our bill, told her that the other man in the room told her to take them off. She proceeded to get even more upset and more smart remarks. In conclusion, Ashley Perry is the main reason I am more than unhappy and will not be returning any more sales or even service business to this dealership. I do not recommend this dealership. The one star is for the two very kind man that were apologetic, and willing to help the issue at hand. read more

My 2018 Ford Edge had A/C issues. After FOUR service visits to my local Ford Dealership (I refuse to slander the business name) I took it to Cloninger Ford. Charles M. was my service expert and Ashley was the service manager. Charles located the freon leak, ordered a replacement line, repaired the issue and I am so excited to have this problem finally resolved! Ashley was able to get my warranty to support the visit so the deductible was waived! They are amazing and I recommend them 10000%!! Thank You Cloninger Ford Team and Associates!!! read more

Monday I called at and was told at 330pm the mechanic left for the day and had 8 vehicles in front of mine but Sal the service writer he would call me the following morning with an update. At 1 pm I spoke with Tony the service manager said he was told I was towing the vehicle some where else. This company is only about filling their bank accounts not people! Buy somewhere else. Their word is meaningless and if you want to overpay for a vehicle then go to this dealership. I always dread going to purchase a car and this dealership just made it even more evident. The experience started great with Dwayne and then when trying to purchase a vehicle instead of wire they wanted me to write a check or charge it, Finally convinced them only wiring funds they did bring the car to me, told me I had 72 hours to trade in or return the vehicle and they would give me equal or lesser value exchange for a different car. I will take responsibility for not knowing that sister companies can't exchange vehicles and have to purchase them. I happened to see a better vehicle that I liked on their website, called Dwayne, and asked about it. The car was in a different location and couldn't be exchanged the vehicle ended up paying processing fees not once but twice and David stated he would talk with his manager to see if he could transfer the oil changes to the new vehicle no phone call was returned. They talk a big game but their word is just lies over and over again. Instead of making a customer satisfied they upcharge and make things difficult. I will be accountable for the fact that I did change my mind about the vehicles and didn't realize the whole process of trading vehicles and their 72-hour return policy, but they could have made it better and not stolen my money. The only good part is I did get a vehicle that I wanted even though paying processing fees again. I give the one star to Dwayne. The Cloninger company has zero stars for just talking and not backing it up with actions. They are not there for the customer they are there for their greedy pockets. Stay away from this place, Go somewhere else more honest and about customer satisfaction. read more

In reference to the body shop.... We were referred by USAA and got a quote for a VERY SIMPLE fix pretty quickly. When we got our quote we were told if we scheduled a date further out we wouldn't be waiting on parts to come in and it would go faster. We dropped our vehicle off and 2 weeks proceeded to go by with us getting texts that it would be another 2-3 weeks before they even STARTED it. I got this text both weeks. This is our only vehicle so we were in a rental, and one that was too small for our family because the rental company didn't have any bigger ones. Our vehicle was perfectly driveable as the damage was 100% cosmetic, and had we not been lied to about when it would be done we never would have dropped it off. We finally went today to just pick it back up with no work completed on it, to find door dings on it that, per our photos when we dropped it off, we're NOT there when we dropped it off. I wouldn't trust them to fix a tin can at this point. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS DEALERSHIP UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE LIED TO AND SCAMMED! My car's engine had an issue so it was brought in for repair. It took the dealership 5 months to get the car fixed after I had already paid for the parts upfront. During these 5 months there was no communication coming from the dealership and I always had to reach out about updates on the car. Since it's been at the dealership for that long I asked them to also run a check on the car before I would pick it up so I can take it back to the State Inspection. Their response was that the car is in perfect condition except for the tires having a flat spot for standing this long. When I then went to the dealership to pick up the car, the battery was dead and needed to be replaced first before it could be taken it to the inspection. At the inspection they also told me that the breaks had issues and the inspection could not be passed unless breaks would be replaced. I also asked the dealership for a quote on my car to sell it and they offered less for the car than the last repair cost while the appraisal value on the sales person's screen showed a price 10k higher. read more

I called and talked with a representative at Cloninger Body shop. I told her I needed an estimate on replacing a side view mirror. I sent pictures. It took a while but I got an estimate. I told her I wanted a NEW mirror and all parts, since finding out that insurance companies will force the body shop to use used junk yard parts for lower cost. She said: "of course" always new parts. Dropped it off 4/26/23. Heard nothing. So I called on Fri 4/28/23. The guy saiid he didn't know the status of my car not his job. Finally got to talk to another guy who said they didn't have a mirror yet. WHAT! You knew the car was coming in. It was said to be there. On Mon 5/1/23, I still couldn't get an answer on when the mirror would be there. Finally on Wed 5/10/23 they said the mirror was there and the car is in "build up", and that's all the info they had for me. Finally got it back on Fri 5/5/23. 8 working days to get it, paint it, and install a mirror (with all electronics). Glad I didn't need a whole front clip, or tailgate, or a door. So, in finalizing things with them, I find out the mirror came from LKQ. A local scrap yard/car parts recycler. The paint on the mirror shell is ok for my 9 year old car(in perfect condition) but would not be acceptable if the car was newer. The auto mirror adjust for driver 1, doesn't return to the previous setting every time. I will not go back. Don't want to be without the car for another week, and be treated rudely again. read more

Our experience with this dealership was very poor. We brought our mustang to this service department numerous times over several years as it kept losing it's charge. Multiple "repairs" and explanations were provided. We spent thousands of dollars on these interventions. The explanation changed every time. During one visit the service department returned the vehicle with a broken shift. They then billed us another $800 to fix that. When we complained, the little service boy threatened physical violence. We were told he was fired for this. However, when we returned, we saw him run away to hide. Finally, after numerous interventions at a significant cost, we were told the problem was our fault for not driving the vehicle "frequently enough". We were even told that mustangs that sit on their lot for more than a week will often have drained batteries. How odd. One wonders if Ford is aware of what this dealership is telling people. Since that time we took the car to another service center where it was discovered there was a short in the electrical system. The car can now sit without being driven for weeks and never loses a charge. read more
