Wondered into this bar on a Saturday afternoon. The divey look and open facade definitely drew us in. The entire place is covered in patron drawn graffiti and they have old 80's movies playing on the tv with punk music blaring in the background. They were in the middle of a shift change and the new bartender was celebrating his birthday that day. He was super friendly and definitely fit the vibe of the place. I'm glad I made this the first stop BEFORE Beverly's which is directly next door separated by a wall. This is a TRUE dive bar. Decor: graffiti EVERYWHERE. From what I've been told that night, patrons actually are allowed to add their own "creative" piece to the wall. I'm not sure if they provide the markers to do so but I'm definitely bringing my sharpie on the next go around here. Prices: are GREAT. I mean it's NOT $3 you call it BUT it is $5 and above ALL DAY and NIGHT. Sounds good to me. Their frozen margaritas are well balanced and are $5 each. I would come back just for these. No joke. The tunes that are spun at this place doesn't get me wild up or anything but I enjoy it. It's like rock and retro rock. I definitely over dressed with my suede pants... But the lady bartender was hot and without bra which definitely gave me a great ol' boner alone with my drink. Thanks lady. = ) The guy bartender was cordial as well. This is my favorite bar (after St. Jerome's was gone) in the LES. I've been coming here for YEARS. Every time I go here I have a great time. You could go alone or with friends & still have an awesome time. I always bring my friends who are visiting from out of state or another country to this bar! Bartenders are always friendly & talk shit with you. The $5 beer and shot combo gets me every. single. time. Love how the place is tagged up from floor to ceiling, even the toilet is tagged up. Let me just preface this by saying that I like dingy dive bars and oftentimes prefer one over some upscale lounge. I will also give this place credit for the cheap drinks and the free popcorn. I am however furious at the wet paint on their walls. I went to use the bathroom and brushed against the wall which left a huge blue paint stain on my black peacoat. My coat is at the dry cleaner now and they are seeing if they can get the wet paint out. If they can't, I will have to purchase a new coat. If they can, this will just be a big inconvenience and a bill from the dry cleaner for me. I've never had this happen to me at any other dive bar with graffiti on their walls. Not sure if it was the bar or a patron but whoever did it is extremely inconsiderate. I don't act like it's the end of the world when my things get torn or lost but this is a different situation - it's negligence. I don't work all week to buy myself nice clothes so that someone's lack of consideration can leave a permanent paint stain on them. I also walked out with paint all over my purse and cell phone case (but this happened in the "artsy" backroom with a table full of art supplies so that was kind of expected). I will never come back here and if you even remotely care about your things, stay away. read more

This is the spot in Manhattan. Cheapest bar in town with the greatest bartenders. Hidden punk rock dive bar gem on a quiet block of Essex. In my opinion this is the best bar in LES to be social with strangers in a world that continues to get less social. read more

This grunge bar has such an awesome atmosphere to it. With stickers that cover the entirety of the place and a badass bartender, the vibe there is dope. Plus $3 shots + beer??? How awesome is that?!! The bartender is super nice and attentive. Definitely recommend this place! read more

This dive bar has a lot of cheap drinks. The beer is cheaper than most places in this neighborhood. If your looking for a chill place with cheap drinks to hang out with friends this is the place. There are tables to sit it. The beer here is around $6 and you can't get a shot of whiskey with the beer for $2. read more

This a cheap little punk dive bar. It gives good vibes. A nice cozy spot to just drink and joke around with friendly people. I went on a thursday late afternoon and could enjoy my $5 beer and shot without dealing with douchebags. I think all day is happy hour because this bar is dirt cheap. This just became my new go-to cheap bar. You really can't beat the prices, especially in the city. $3 for Budweiser and a shot (add a shot to any beer for $2) and $6 for frozen margaritas and well drinks. The bartender was funny and friendly, and even made us custom shots that he had never made before but turned out delicious. The grunge/punk vibe is definitely there (the walls are covered in graffiti) and it might be easy to miss walking down the street. The neighborhood itself is seedy and divey. Just the way I like it. Clockwork is the areas center of the universe. Small place filled with chill (look at me, at my age calling something chill!) folks, cheap but tasty brews and killer margaritas - also nice selection of booze and music. Back area nice place to broker a deal, NOT. Wall Streeters, hipsters, disco need not apply. We actually stumbled upon it after a softball game. Some of my team mates were, eh, about it. I immediately fell for its quaint charm and hospitality. It is a must stop see/visit for anyone in the area. Near the F,J,M,Z. Pretty cool little bar in my opinion but gave me the vibe of a local dive bar with a pissed-off female bartender that set up the Vibe even perfect. Had a couple drinks and shots that didn't break the bank had a good selection of alcohol and a good accessible bathroom with very good music while playing classic VH1 videos on TV and the rest is history. This bar keeps the authentic old-school feel of the neighborhood alive. Walls are covered in stickers and graffiti, which brings you right back into the grudge/punk era. Highly recommended for day drinking, they've got cheap drinks and a full bar of anything else you'd want! The staff is warm and welcoming and if you happen to have a food craving they have always recommended great food options nearby (there are a LOT of them!) Don't mind me a good dive bar, or a good shot and beer special. Already had a few of those by the time I came into this spot, so just kind of had a taste for a bulleit neat. Realized pretty quickly that they fill their bulleit with Evan Williams or some other well whiskey. So when I called the bartender out on it, I actually said, "So what do you fill your Bulleit bottles with?" Didn't care if he did do that, which he did, but he completely skirted the question.
