Raymond is absolutely the best! Look no further. He has the most unique selection of watches, bands, clocks, grandfather clocks, etc. I came in for a simple battery change on one of my designer watches and he had me in and out in less than a few minutes! You can tell he's very passionate about his job and takes fantastic care of his customers. Bringing all my watches to Raymond from now on!

It's alive!!

Cartier wrist watch now broken ...

I had been taking my Cartier watch to Clock World for over fifteen years . I took it to the owner eight months ago, as my watch was losing five minutes a week, approx a minute a day. The owner knows the watch after all these years. He said " You need to wind it more " I know my watch, and how to wind it after all these years. When Raymond - I think that's his name - took the watch from me he looked at it, and the time was 4:05. He proceeded to wind it very very tight. I asked him at the time why he was winding it so much. he said it needs to be wound more. He did not charge me as all he did was wind the watch. however when I got home the time was still 4:05. I tried to see if it was indeed wound. It was wound so tight you couldn't even wind it at all. It's been eight months, and it stuck at 4:05. Ive been back to store ten times, no one there. I've left five voice messages,on phone , now his box is full. this watch is expensive, and is now broken. I took it to Cartier, they couldn't believe how tightly it was wound. He Raymond wound it so tight the mainspring may be broken. I'm angry . I've had this watch for thirty some years, and it's always worked great. I always took it to Clock World for cleaning, and crystal cleaning. He is nowhere to be found. I used to like him, but he destroyed my watch .

The time.

Can't fix our clock! Asked for money back and he does not want to do it even though Ray's work has a two year guarantee. Ray came over a total of 5 times. Never could fix it. Our Howard Miller is either fast or slow. When Ray came over to take it to repair it, he said he could get it to stay on time. He brought it back, cleaned up the lose plastic around the wood and supposedly fixed the time. Before Ray touched our clock it was 4 minutes slow. Now it's 9 minutes to 14 minutes slow. After his 5th visit because we asked for some of our money back, Ray told me how to turn the pendulum wheel one time a day to speed up or slow down. It does not work, either way. I don't know what he did, but he did not fix it and $500 was way too much for a bad repair job. If you guarantee your work and you don't fix the item, and you don't return a partial refund, then I think your business is unethical.

Awesome experience taking my 3 watches in. Had some issues with my current stainless band and he not only fixed it but had to do a little custom grinding or cutting to get it flush again. Looks brand new! Happy to take my watches here every time. A+ job, effort, and price :)

Ask the Community - Clock World

Hi, I got a call saying my watch was ready 2 weeks ago, and since then I've stopped by the store a few times during the posted hours and it was closed. Ive called at least 2-3 times a day and have gotten no answer. How can I reach you to pick it up?

Hi Isabel, I experienced the same just this month. But I brought my watch for repair mid February 2024. I was promised 2 weeks, but now a month later still no communication and found a sign on the door "Temporarily Closed".…

Are they still open I cannot reach them by phone?

I think he's back open. He called me today (8/2/24) and said my clock has been repaired, and that he was open from 2pm to 6pm. I will pick it up on Monday--

I needed to get my boots' soles replaced and was thinking about completely swapping the soles too. Mak provided me a reasonable quote for the rebuild and was also very knowledgeable in the shoe care tips he shared with me. He said he would complete an entire rebuild of both leather boots' soles within the day, and I was able to come before closing time to pick them up. I accepted and left my boots and contact information. Separately from my experience with the shoe repair, a couple came in after me to do a watch repair as I was leaving. Within seconds, Mak was able to identify the problem and said it'd take 10 minutes to fix. Talk about someone who knows their craft very well! He sent a text less than 2.5 hours later letting me know they was ready for pickup. I came before the store closed to pick them up. The boots' soles were revitalized, I put them on and walked around the store with them. I was very happy. Mak is awesome, gets your shoe repair done quickly with reasonable prices, and I will absolutely going to Mak for any shoe repairs I may have in the future!

They did a good job, and the watch had been keeping very good time after I picked it up. Then ... after a few months, one of the hour markers on the dial came loose and was floating around between the dial and the crystal, sometimes stopping the movement. It had to be fixed, and I hated the thought of shelling out more money. However, when I brought it in, the good folks at Geneva Watch Repair told me that because the watch had recently been serviced and because I was a new customer, they would repair the watch for free. It was done within a week. I was very pleased. It's now been a few weeks, and the watch is still keeping time and the marker repair has held. Long story short, I will be a repeat customer. Moreover, the experience prompted me to write this Yelp review--my first!

I have two watches that stopped working--one about 25 years old, the other about 40 years old. I probably paid about $50-$100 each for them, but they have a lot of sentimental value. David is a true master and an honest person. He rescued my century-old grandfather clock from a bad…read moresituation and made it like new. I hired David to fix my antique grandfather clock which had been left with a number of issues as a result of poor work done by another clockmaker. When I called around to find someone to fix it, some said they don't do house calls, while one candidly told me that they would "stay away" from my clock as it had evidently been "mistreated" by the other clockmaker. So you can imagine how discouraged I was feeling when I called David. David did not hesitate for a moment when I told him the situation over the phone. He said he would gladly take a look and was optimistic that we could fix the issues. He arrived on time, carrying three carefully organized boxes of tools, which, he told me over the course of the afternoon, he had selected after decades of work in the field. "Some people see me carry two of the same tool and ask, why do you have two?" He told me, as he picked up a grappling tool. "Because one is lighter and the other is stronger." In the field, he said, the goal is to solve problems using the tools available. It's important to bring the right assortment and to be resourceful, since going back to the shop isn't an option. I listed the problems: the clock was failing to sound the "8 bells" chime and would get stuck; one of the chime notes wouldn't sound at all; the moon phase dial wasn't calibrated; and, most confoundingly, the clock would sometimes have a rogue "stuttering" strike on the hour while the chimes were still playing. He quoted a reasonable price to address these issues. He worked on the clock for several hours, explaining in great detail everything that he was doing whenever I asked. As an aspiring hobbyist myself, I asked a lot of questions. David blew me away with his theoretical and practical expertise, and his generosity in sharing the tricks of his trade. He never hesitated to involve me if I wanted to be involved, and to answer all of my questions throroughly --- a true mark of confidence. After a while, I was getting tired and hungry. When I asked if he'd like to take a break and have some lemon loaf cake that I had set out, he replied, "I'll enjoy loaf cake when this clock is working!" I really appreciated his resolve, especially after all that this clock (and I) had been through, at a moment when I wasn't even sure that the clock could be restored. Over the course of the afternoon, he identified several problems in addition to the ones I'd pointed out. The leather pads for the chime hammers were worn, creating a sharp and metallic tone (he replaced them, after demonstrating the improvement). The movement as a whole was "thirsty" and needed oil (he lubricated all the moving parts). One of the chime hammers had slipped off its restraint (restored). And regarding the "stuttering" strike, the strike train was being prematurely released for the duration of a single strike, due to a pad slipping out of place (he made the adjustments to fix it). This was not an easy thing to spot, and was the greatest source of my worry. But the malfunction didn't evade David's careful eye, and it didn't take him long to fix it. At this point, I mentioned how I had noticed that the pendulum was slightly out of beat --- slight enough that most people wouldn't notice, but I'm OCD about things like that and it bothered me. David listened carefully and then said that the issue was minor enough that clockmakers consider it to be "in beat," and that the clock wouldn't stop as a result of it, but he still adjusted the pendulum until we both listened together and agreed that it was perfect. We enjoyed the well-earned lemon loaf cake at last, while the clock presided over the gathering, proudly tick-tocking and chiming away. My century-old clock is now chiming the 8 bells chime on the quarter hour, sounding warm and proud and joyful. It strikes precisely and authoritatively on the hour, after the chimes have played their full melody. The moon phase dial is accurate. The clock is in beat, on time, and fully restored. David brought youth and energy back to this old grandfather clock. A master of his craft, and a true professional. Don't hesitate: hire David.
