They do a great job with dog care and problem solving. I'm fortunate to have them close to home.

Dr. Weiner has been taking care of my dogs for the last 15 years. He is an extraordinarily loving,…read moreconsiderate, educated vet who truly loves his client's animals. He makes sure you understand any situation, and lays out the options and possible outcomes, in a very caring manner. His wife assists in the practice and is just as wonderful as he is. Dr. Weiner knows that many of us are not rich, but that our animals need care. He is very conscious of the costs of having a pet, and really seeks to keep you informed. There are no nasty surprises when the bill is presented. And he takes insurance, which he smartly suggested when we first brought to him our Cairn Terrier puppy, 13 years ago. This has saved us many dollars in the long run. The practice is very good with follow-up. I have never left the office without him insisting that I give him a follow-up report at some number of days later. And if I forget to do so, I can always expect a call. Who else does this in New York City? So grateful for this practice

Trying to make an appointment with the doctor but he was very aggressive…read more I had questions about specific urine tests and using other vet's records as a baseline. Last month, my dog just did a full checkup at another clinic. They told me that they must have their own checkup to fully understand how to treat my dog's situation. I understand that vet's have very specific protocols but he comes off very rude and condescending. When I called another veterinarian, they said the same thing as this vet. Luckily it was in a less intense/aggressive way. I will be bringing my pet to the other place. Writing this review in hopes that the doctor will speak nicely to future customers. Great care for my older dog…read more She was evaluated and spend the night with meds and fluids The staff is great, professional all the way

I had heard many good things about VEG and went in with high expectations. Unfortunately I was very…read moredisappointed by my experience. On Sunday evening, I took my senior Chihuahua to VEG Chelsea. A vet tech quickly took her weight and temperature but did not ask why we were there or take any other history. We were placed in a room in the back with a window to the main area where I could see lots of staff members. After 45 minutes of waiting with no updates or anyone checking on my dog, I went out to ask if they might have an estimate of when the vet might see us and was told a few minutes, but this proved not to be true and I watched that vet leave for the evening. Around the two-hour mark, I heard a staff member tell the new vet that everyone was triaged. I was surprised because no one had asked what brought us to the ER. I spoke with a staff member in the hallway and explained that we'd been waiting for two hours with no one taking my dog's history or checking on her, and I told her that I was disappointed by the lack of communication. Before we could discuss it, another staff member interrupted and told me that my dog's temperature and weight were the triage and she asked what I expected since one veterinarian had just left and another had just arrived. I understand that ERs have to prioritize certain patients, and I was not upset about waiting. However, I felt dismissed when I waited for two hours with no one providing us updates or checking on my dog. A little bit of communication would have gone a long way. I found the staff member's response to my concerns very condescending, and so my dog and I left. For those reasons, I would not recommend this ER and next time will visit one of the many others available in our city.
