My husband and I had Kenny a mechanic at John's Automotive rebuild a Transmission for a 2001 Ford…read moreF350 Diesel. We were told that he would rebuild the entire transmission and that he would even upgrade the torque converter for us. My husband gets a call after he already has our transmission and Kenny tells us that they couldn't locate a new solenoid for the transmission and we would have to buy one and bring it to them. Next, we think all is good he had "rebuilt" it and was good to put into the truck, we get the transmission and realize it had the wrong torque converter in it. Kenny's wife tells my husband that he has to bring the transmission back to them as they messed up and put the wrong torque on it and another customer was bringing our torque converter back to them as they had mixed up another customers with ours. My husband drives an almost hour from Lusby to switch out the torque converters he then comes home goes to install the transmission in the truck to realize when he put the transmission fluid in, Kenny had installed the wrong gasket and 90% + of the transmission fluid we had just bought was on the ground. That was 16 out of 17 quarts that the truck took. We then went to Advance and had to buy the correct gasket to install. Mind you we had already spent $1,200 for the rebuilt transmission, $120 for the solenoid (that should have been included) $100 in transmission fluid and now $25 on the correct gasket (again which should have been included). We finally get the transmission in, with the correct gasket and it goes into 1st and 2nd gear as well as reverse, but it won't go into drive. We call Kenny only to be told it's an electrical problem. He then stops responding to my husband so I reach out as a "different" customer as a referral and of course I get a response. A few days later, Kenny his wife and a friend of his all come to our house and "look" at the transmission. They "confirm" it is electrical not the transmission that they "rebuilt". At this point we have spent everything we have to "fix" the truck as we don't have much money. A few weeks pass and we are finally able to get it to a mechanic for an inspection and low and behold we are told the transmission needs to be completely replaced. Hmmm we just had it rebuilt!! Inspection is another $140 to the price.... We get a 2nd opinion cost $120 and the mechanic looked at all the electrical work and says the transmission was not rebuilt. He gives us the codes he pulled up which says "NO FORWARD CONDITION WILL BE CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL OR SOLENOID FAULT AND WILL NOT SET DTC's SUSPECT FAULTY LOW SPRAG OR FORWARD CLUTCH. PLACE SELECTOR IN 1ST, IF VEHICLE MOVES SUSPECT LOW SPRAG FAILURE. IF STILL NO MOVEMENT, REMOVE PAN & INSPECT FOR CLUTCH MATERIAL (FROM FORWARD CLUTCH.) The truck of course would not go in gear. Kenny responded at that point and said to pull the transmission and bring it back to him. He and my husband could look at it together. We pulled the transmission and there was gray sludge and metal flakes in it. My husband sent the picture of it to Kenny and have not received a response from him since which was 2 days ago. We have spent alot of money still for a truck with a transmission that doesn't run. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. We put out way more money than intended to "fix" what they said was already fixed, however they did not fix it. If I could have given a 0 star I would have! These people are horrible! Do not let them do work for you!!

I had my car towed to this Aamco because it was recommended for transmission replacement. Only my engine light was on. However, instead of concentrating on the transmission, they told me the catalytic converter was blocked and it needed to be repaired before the transmission could be replaced. Then I get a call about an electrical problem with my SUV keeping it from starting, and again I was told it had to be fixed before the transmission could be replaced. They kept my vehicle almost two months trying to fix the aforementioned problems. When they "fixed" the issues and called the warranty company for how much they will pay towards my transmission claim; according to them the warranty company wanted them to find a rebuilt transmission instead of a new one; then finally the company representative told them they would only pay less than $2,000 toward a new transmission. I requested my vehicle back, they charged me over $2,000 for the work they did. The manager took me on a test drive and I asked why are all these other warning lights on; he told me there were additional problems that needed repair. When I got in me vehicle to go home, it would not start. The mechanic mumbled something about my battery. He got it started with a jump. They succeeded in doing irreparable damage to my vehicle's electrical system, and they did not replace my transmission. This left my vehicle worst off then when I had it towed to them.

I took my 2008 Pontiac G5 in for transmission repair and they were honest and strait forward from the beginning. I paid 3300 dollars for a rebuilt transmission and my car runs GREAT. The one day my car was supposed to be finish Mr. Doug & Mr. Manny call me and said it would be a one day delay only. And they were willing to pay for a rental car for that day and I got my car the next day with no problems. If anyone who has any questions about the service please feel free to contact me and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. My thanks to the whole Aamco team Sincerely Calvin B.
