We had a tasting of their delicious whiskey and liquors. All of them were outstanding: raspberry, blackberry regular and with orange peel and loganberry. Service is amazing, of course it's a small place so owners and the makers of the stuff are serving you as well. After the tasting, we proceeded to have cocktails in their back patio which also has live music 2-4 pm on weekends. We actually came back for the live music and listened to lovely singer in their patio while sipping cocktails. And of course I had to bring home some of the liquors as they were too good to leave them there. Definitely a must do while on Whidbey island.

The meadery is a quirky, welcoming, family-friendly spot and for this event they featured live music, cosplay (sword fighting in full armor) and fire dancing, along with food vendors. They have picnic grounds, a great taproom, and plenty of mead flavors. Bring your own food, because they don't serve food, only drink here, typically. Or visit during a special event, when they'll have outside vendors as guests and food available. For Summer Solstice they had Whidbey Pies (known for strawberry rhubarb, marrionberry and cherry pies) and a local wood-fired pizza maker. A hierophant is a guide to sacred mysteries, which feels like the perfect name for a spot prepared to introduce you to the mysteries of mead. This is only the second meadery I've been to, and I feel like their flavors are much lighter, without any that I tried leaning towards the sweet dessert style mead. They have flat and bubbly options, as well as some really cool flavors. They have preset flights but on certain days you can create your own, so that's what I did! I personally really liked the spiced apple, PNW chai, and the hopped meadjito was my favorite! They don't make food but they do have a fridge with some items to make mini charcuterie boards! I found out that they sell their products at pcc's and metropolitan markets so I'm excited to grab some more from there!

I swiftly descended upon and scooped up a bottle of Oahacan Old Fashioned chocolate and chili bitters for mixing into some whiskey back home, completely oblivious that it said to mix with Mezcal on the bottle, but it worked really well my way, so no complaints! This is the sort of shop where I would spend far too much money on a regular basis, so I'm slightly thankful that I would have to drive five hours to get back here. Hopefully the residents of Langley are wealthy enough to keep a fantastic small business like this running year round, so I can come back during our visit next year, and be charmed all over again!
