I've been coming to Clinically Clear for over 22 years. I remember in 2000 I told my friend that I was having issues with ingrown hairs and dark marks. She said she had the perfect place for me so she suggested I go to Kathryn Khadija Leverette at Clinically Clear. I'm so glad I did. That was the best decision I could of ever made. Especially being in the entertainment business. Our skin needs to be in tip top shape for the cameras. Over the years I have received the best treatments. What I like the most is that Clinically Clear really cares about your skin. They always have a solution to every problem. I haven't been to any other center but them. I've moved from state to state over the years and I'm still able to get my products shipped to me where ever I am. I Recently had a bad breakout of acne and dark spots that came out of nowhere. I called the center and talked to Lashunda and told her what was going on. Got some products that I needed and now a few weeks later the breakout has cleared up and the dark marks are almost gone. I asked them what kind of magic potion do you guys put in these products to instantly clear up my skin and make me look 20 years younger. I'm trying to figure out what all the high ratings are about. I came here twice and on both occasions, I felt like something was amiss with this place/dermatologist. TL:DR; // First visit experience: Made an appointment, showed up, they were running behind schedule but no worries, it happens. The dermatologist Kat is very warm and friendly once you get in front of her. When it was my turn, we go into the room and start the consultation process. She lightly looks at my face and listens to what I'm there for. It was a relatively quick process, and we probably talked more about non-skincare things than what I came in for. So what's the problem? Well, I was kinda shocked not to get any progress pictures taken. Seems like a standard thing to do for any time-based treatments. (I guess if your skin issue clears up over time why to take photographs....? ‍) I came to get help with getting rid of the dark patches in my beard line and top of the forehead. She prescribes me various potions to buy from her, most of which are in plastic bottles with plain printed labels. (Doesn't mean it's snake oil but still, I'm thinking, is this really going to help me!) Overall, I didn't leave with a good feeling that this place was going to help me. Felt like I just came to give $$$ for home remedies. // Second visit experience (the follow up): A little over a month, I go back for my follow up. Again, I'm on time but the doc is running way behind. She is super friendly and social which is the key to the lateness. I'm sitting in the waiting room well past my appointment time and kept seeing her chit-chat casually with everyone in the main office. Finally, almost 25 minutes later it's my turn to get seen. However, I didn't get called to the back of the office... nope, my follow up appointment took place in the waiting area! (Really?!) She came out to the waiting room and sat next to me and slightly looked at my face. She says, "It's getting better". Really, you can see that from the dimly lit waiting room? I brought with me all of the magic potions that she prescribed during my first visit. (She asks you to bring your treatment stuff with you to your follow up.) As she is checking to see how much of the treatment serums I'm using she is admonishing me for using too much. Then proceeds to swat me like a dog with my rolled-up treatment paperwork. WOW! With each swat, it was like she was hitting dollars away from her pockets. She scribbled the treatment adjustments over the original treatment plan outlined in the paperwork and she sent me on my way. I pretty much left the office frustrated and knew I'd take my $$$ elsewhere. P.S., I don't care if Danny Glover comes here, this should not be your sole selling point. I care to see actual results from other patients as well as myself. The Bay is expensive, every dollar counts!!! read more

Clinically Clear is amazing. It is wonderful to find someone who says they work on people of color and they actually do. Not only do they treat people of color, they have the knowledge, resources and experience to do a great job. They understand the particulars of our skin. Kat is wonderful. And LaShonda is hilarious. She does a very thorough job. They approach it from a holistic perspective. Meaning they can identify behaviors, eating patterns, sleeping patterns, water intake, health issues to the exact facial or skin problem you have. They are expensive. $20 - $50 for products. However, if you think about how much money you dole out to Clinique or Mac or Origins, etc. and those products don't work on our skin. You are paying a bit more, but the products last and they work. It's definitely worth it if you want flawless skin. I will say that I started going a few years back and my first time around I got perfect results. I took a break for a year and have started back in May. I wish there were more nonBPO acne treatments. Luckily, I don't have bad acne, but being allergic to BPO I don't have many options, as the zinc and salycic acid doesn't work really well. Even still, they are the most amazing place I've been to in the Bay Area and I've tried nearly everyone and everything, including laser. Bottom line, if you have problem skin, no matter how big or different and especially if you are a woman or man of color, GO SEE KAT! Update: I was planning my wedding last March. There are honestly no words to truly capture Kat's knowledge, empathy, and effectiveness when it comes to skincare. A friend recommended me to Kat after I experienced a terrible breakout following a chemical peel. I do not live in California so Kat and I did a Skype chat and I sent her a ton of pictures. She had me fill out an extensive survey on top of the questions she asked me on the phone. This is a delayed five-star review but still very much deserved! I walked into Kats business about a year ago with a hat on and my head down. I had chronic acne, dark spots, and a shot down self-esteem. Kat looked at me straight in the eye and instead of looking at me with pity she looked at me with hope. She instantly went to work. She was unlike other skin specialists I went to who immediately suggested accutane or a series of harsh chemical peels. It's easy to fall in love with Clinically Clear and the Clinically Clear crew. Two close friends of mine have recommended Clinically Clear to me for years. They rave about Kat and Clinically Clear -- the products, procedures, professionalism, and general depth of knowledge. After finally being able to schedule an appointment I can see why. I found Clinically Clear long ago through the Berkeley Parents Network where people raved about Kathryn Leverette, the owner of the clinic. At that point, I was pretty desperate because my skin was no longer benefiting from prescription topical medications, and my dermatologist had basically given up on me. So I was really, really, really happy to find Clinically Clear. I've been going for 14 years now, and my skin has never looked so good. Their approach to skin is totally different than anywhere else I've ever gone (and I've been to a lot of dermatologists/estheticians). She spends a lot of time analyzing your issues and then figures out a regimen, which she then adjusts as needed over time. The staff is great. I usually book Lashunda or Kat because they do this technique called "scraping" which makes me look like I was attacked by bees for about a day and then makes my skin unbelievably perfect. They don't do this to everyone, just those of us with hyperkeratosis (those little bumps under your skin, not dramatic acne, but really annoying and difficult to get rid of). I love me some Kat and Lashunda! I have been coming to Kat since I was acne and dermatitis plagued college student back in 2004. Kat's holistic approach to getting to the bottom of my skin issues has been a lifesaver. I never had a doctor or dermatologist ask me about my diet or what type of hair products and detergent I used before. Kat broke me of a lot of bad habits, cleared up my skin which was damaged by hard water (college was in Stockton) and I have a whole new health regimen thanks to Kat and staff. The new facility is really great, but beware of the metered parking and never park in the back parking lot. When I book appointments, I usually give myself an hour cushion after because once you're considered part of the family you could end up spending a few hours just chatting with Kat between clients and getting samples of products. She also does custom blend makeup too. If you're a first-timer, be patient and take it all in. Kat breaks down a lot and she gets into every nook and cranny of your lifestyle, but know that it is purposeful and only to help you achieve your skin care goals. Lastly, Kat is a wealth of knowledge and I am blessed to call her a dear friend and angel in my support system. At my initial consultation , the owner talked to me about my skin. She was able to look at my skin and tell me factual information about my health- which totally impressed me!! I also liked the fact that I was asked to bring in my hair care products and the products that I use on my face- which makes total sense. I have never had a skin care professional ask to look at my skin care products- again, totally impressed. I was given a facial care regimen to follow. I got a little nervous because due to a brain injury - my memory is a bit compromised. I was assured that I would be given the instructions in writing. The instructions were crystal clear. I purchased the products, which were reasonably priced. I took a picture of my face the day I started the program and 30 days after and 60 days after. The results are remarkable! I was contacted regarding this situation and excuses were only given. No solutions or understanding were offered. Instead they apologized for not being able to reconstruct their office. What kind of realistic solution is that? That's just insulting among the other statements that were made, that I won't list here. I truly respect the manager for being accommodating to their employees, but what about your customers? Being asked to step outside like something was wrong with me and told to read the sign instead of giving me an explanation is not ok. I would have returned after this situation given the staff has always been very nice to me, but after being given a response like this this I see things have changed. You have truly lost my business after the treatment I have received regarding this situation. I would suggest you mail out a notice to all your customers letting them know that they can not eat shellfish before coming to the office and I would suggest making all your signs much bigger than they are in a neon color so people are not confused like I was.
