I contacted Climate Zone to service my Lennox air conditioner. From the minute I contacted Climate Zone on the phone, I was very impressed. Laurie, the customer service representative, was polite and knowledgeable. I scheduled a service appointment and Jason, the service technician, arrived on time. He did a thorough job servicing my A/C and evaluating a coil that could be defective. He also patiently answered all of my questions. I was personally impressed with Jason's level of expertise and his work ethic. I highly recommend Climate Zone and will be using them to service my Lennox A/C. read more

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Andrew DiPietro's Climate Zone, after spending over $40,000 on a whole-home heat pump heating and cooling system in May 2024. While the cooling works fine, the first-floor units cannot maintain comfortable temperatures during normal New England winter weather. When outdoor temperatures drop below ~40°F, the system struggles to heat the space above the low 60s, and during colder weather temperatures can fall into the 50s. These Lennox low-temperature units were represented as being capable of operating down to 5°F, so this performance is unacceptable for a primary heating system. Before installation, we were told supplemental gas heat might only be needed on "very cold" days. We reasonably understood that to mean single-digit temperatures, not typical winter temperatures in the 20s and 30s. , Technicians twice confirmed in fall 2024 that our units were functioning properly, but we were still very uncomfortable. Climate Zone did not respond to repeated requests for help throughout the winter. We eventually contacted Mass Save, another HVAC contractor, and the Massachusetts Attorney General's office for assistance. Mass Save informed us that Climate Zone failed to document a required Manual J calculation and failed to obtain a permit (verified by Boston Inspectional Services). Another reputable HVAC contractor told us the system was improperly designed for airflow and heating distribution and suggested the setup likely would not have passed inspection. We were also told that reputable contractors would typically correct issues like this at no cost to the homeowner. The Attorney General's Office attempted to mediate, but Andy refused to cooperate. The only solution ultimately offered by Andy was to install a supplemental electric baseboard heater (which is more costly and less efficient), despite the fact that we paid for a whole-home heat pump system intended to handle our heating needs efficiently. Throughout our dealings, Andy did not behave respectfully and refused to take accountability. The experience was frustrating due to the lack of communication and accountability, and the unwillingness to find a meaningful solution. Our contract included a "100% Satisfaction Guarantee," but in practice we were left with an expensive system that does not adequately heat our home during much of the fall, early spring, and all winter. Consequently, we must still rely on our gas heat system, defeating the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficient upgrades. I urge you to save yourself the stress and have your project completed by a reputable contractor. The systems in place designed to protect consumers are no guarantee. read more

Manager called next day to say they refuse to service me because I was "fresh" to CS. Zero accountability, zero respect for customers' time. Horrible company. Go anywhere else. When you order a tune up they neglect to tell you that they will charge you $275 for a 'deep clean' of EACH split unit. What was supposed to be a $398 tune up turned into a $1000 charge. They are outrageously expensive. read more

I needed a new water heater that had died. I called to get several quotes which didn't seem at all reasonable. Then I found Climate Zone. I initially spoke with Jen who was very understanding and flexible. She kept ongoing communication with me about a quote and a service appointment. John and Sam showed up the next day exactly on time, they were professional, friendly and fully answered all my questions. They did and excellent job at a very reasonable price. Don NOT Go there at all. I have scheduled preventive maintenance weeks ago including replacing the HVAC filter, The technician came and put the sensor inside the outlet duct to measure the Co level and he said your system needed to be replaced soon. He is not professional did not bother even to see the HVAC filter condition at all. I asked him again to see the filter first before jumping to his ignorant conclusion. He shut down the system in that freezing condition and called the F.D. on me. I felt betrayed by that horrible Co. (Climate Zone Inc.). I call my preferred HVAC System professional person and he came and first thing he done, checked the HVAC filter, and he replaced it and told me: Who told you that you need to install a new HVAC system, and your system is running excellent. Again, DO NOT HIRE THEM AND DO NOT COME CLOSE TO THEM. The could bankrupt you with their false and unprofessional and misleading diagnostics. read more

We hired Climate Zone to replace our entire HVAC system, including the furnace, central AC, thermostat, etc. As you can see from the photos, the installation wasn't exactly done in a professional-looking manner. They're supposed to put insulation/wrapping around the ductwork coming out of the furnace, but they did not. Despite the disappointment at how the work turned out, we knew we had to have it regularly serviced in order to keep the warranty valid. So, for the past few years, we've had them do fall and spring maintenance appointments. Well, this most recent appointment resulted in them breaking our smart hub that connects the thermostat to the furnace. Rather than own up to it and replace the smart hub, they quoted us $750 to replace it. After shopping around at other Lennox dealers, I found it could be replaced much cheaper (one competing quote came out to $475). read more

The whole crew were pleasant to deal with and worked hard to get the installation done before the cold weather began. They worked carefully and cleaned up the inside and outside area well. I had a problem with the heat . Lowel and Tenzing were assigned to my apartment. They arrived when they said they would and were very professional with their instructions and demeanor. The issue turned out to be with the pilot light on the furnace. They had it fixed in a relatively short period of time! I recommend this company-I've now had 4 different repairmen do repairs and I've never had any issues with them or their work! read more

Climate zone has got to be the worst. STAY AWAY! I wasn't home late last summer and my AC wasn't working, so I asked my folks, who aren't from the US but staying here temporarily, to look into it. They came across these guys through a recommendation from someone at a nearby Home Depot, huge mistake. Our AC had a freon leak. These guys didn't fix the leak, but instead offered to sell my folks 4 lb of freon at $150/lb to "fix" the AC. The AC worked for a few days until the weather got cold so I didn't think much of it Imagine my surprise when this week, when I came home to 95 degree temp and AC not working again, only to find out from my folks that they only added freon and never fixed the leak. The service technician, Gio, was here when i was told he would be here and completed the job in a very reasonable amount of time. He was also very respectful and polite. Called them on Christmas Eve because my water heater was leaking and they're the ones who installed in 6 years ago. Since it wasn't a super big emergency, we decided i could wait until the holiday was over to avoid having to pay the emergency fees. He said he would put me on the call list for scheduling to reach out to me the day after Christmas. The only reason why I'm giving two stars is because the person that called me was very nice and helpful. The day after Christmas rolls around and no one calls me.. i called them and the secretary that answered the phone was very rude and not helpful. She told me that all the plumbers called out sick and she just got back from being sick herself and she would have to call me back. She took my number (again) and said she would call me back when she figured out the schedule. I was not calling for a regular appointment... this was still somewhat of an emergency as my water heater was still leaking slowly. She didn't care one bit & i still have not received a phone call. I lost my AC and contacted Climate Zone because they were local. The office sent Tony to the wrong address I got a call stating They would need to reschedule because nobody was there, I returned their call, informed them Tony was at the wrong address and he did show up. Tony determined the unit needed to be charged but he couldn't figure out how to proceed. Stated he's been in the business for five years and has never seen anything like this. My wife suggested he contact the manufacturer (MagicPac) which he did and stated he would need to return. The return visit went pretty much the same way, Tony again went to the wrong address, this time with a co-worker, looked at the system, doing nothing, after I informed him the unit will need to be removed to be repaired. he informed me that yes, it did need to be removed to be serviced and he would need to send a quote. Well 4th of July week, I waited for his quote and received nothing, I called Climate Zone on Friday, July 5th and learned via the answering service that they were closed for the Holiday. I left a message asking about my quote. At this point Im into them for around $400 They never returned my call, I never received a quote from Tony nor did I bother try getting them back for service. Far from professional service in my opinion. A warning to all: They are quick enough to take your money for showing up and doing nothing, but when it comes time to do the work, No Show, No Call. Do your homework first, unfortunately, buying local isn't always a safe choice. read more

You're better off going with a different company. We were originally quoted a large sized unit with both heating and cooling capabilities. Sounds great, day of installation comes and after needing to get a crane to get the unit onto the roof of our condo turns out we didn't have the wiring that we needed. This seems like a detail that should have been examined before the unit was brought in. We changed to a smaller unit with no heating capability and we get another install date. This one was canceled as the job the day before was running long (red flag). When the installers finally came with the equipment they did not have all they needed to install the unit properly and made several trips for supplies (seems like another detail that should have been examined before the install). The installation went well into the evening and they had to come back the next day (surprise). When the installer came in the next day he did not like what was left from the day before and will come back again to fix the problems. (thank goodness somebody cares) I will also mention the maintenance team for our condo were not happy with the shifting schedule and did not like the work they were doing on the roof and actually cleaned up both in our condo and on the roof (something the install team should have taken care of). At the end of the day, we have an air conditioner that works which is what we needed. But in hindsight, I wish I had asked many more questions to make sure this team was doing their due diligence. read more

If I could give them a minus, minus star I would. All the negative reviews on this site must show something but they do not seem to care. I bought a new HVAC system and had it installed it installed in October 2015. From day one I have had problems with this company. The installers just left without saying anything to us and did not start it up. After calling this company they sent somebody over the next day who continued to work on it and started it up. They told me he would be here by 9am but he finally turned up at around noon. This should have been a signal to me. The problems continued from thereon and when I called them up to come and look at it I was told by their service manager that it would take 2 weeks to get to me. Never mind that we are elderly and in the middle of a heat wave. THEY JUST DON'T CARE. It was problem after problem with the unit and in August 2023 they told me it would cost me $6000 to repair. Even the owner does not seem too worried by getting all these reviews and he was not at all helpful with my plight. I obviously ended up purchasing a Bosch unit from another company and I have had wonderful service and the installation was fabulous. I would not recommend Climate Zone nor Lennox units to anybody. read more

We were referred to this company about 5 years ago during our gas contractors when we converted to gas to replace our water tank heater. The guy who came did a good job so we called them back for this emergency water leak. Boy, that was a mistake. Mike charged us overtime for $225 which we accepted because of the situation. After he arrived, he took a look at the problem for a minute and said the valve pipe and the gasket needed to be replaced. He charged us over $600 for that which felt ridiculously expensive. We thought it would fix the issue so we agreed but it turned out it was a waste of time. After fiddling with the pipes and heat, he told us it was the water heater that was the cause after all and that it would cost around $3600 for replacement and labor. So why did we pay for those other parts? We couldn't agree to such a high sum so we said we'd need to think about it. Before he left, he told us to call Tim about water heaters. We called a few days later and Tim kept saying he was preoccupied and just when we were about to discuss quotes, he said he had issues with his computer and told us he would call back in a few minutes. He never called back. We called back the next day and it went straight to his voice mail. We left a message with our number and he still never called back. What horrible service. We felt like we were scammed out of nearly a grand since nothing was repaired or fixed. We will never do business with this company ever again. You shouldn't either. read more

Disaster, their communication is disastrous. After initial estimate for 2 boilers and 2 mini splits systems ($69,000, No problem with price) ) before Christmas 2021 they did not call or respond to calls for over 3 weeks. One apt. with no heat. I paid DP $5000 on Jan 17th. It is now Jan. 26th. No communication to me about status since 17th. In person Reps are nice and communicate well. When they leave no follow through. If I could give a minus zero I would! Bad enough you need air conditioning! But do you need shoddy, sloppy, and dangerous work done? NO! They left all the debris in the attic, they severed an electrical wire and didn't even know it which could have quickly burnt my house down - - they overflowed the A/C system that flooded into our ceilings and into our bedroom walls because they neglected to not only not blow out the lines after installation to make sure they were working properly but also neglected to install the overflow switch (a $15.oo part!! really!!!). They gouged the hardwood floors, they left handprints on all the walls. They used untrained work men -- (I assume because of the inept and careless job!)They were unresponsive to all of this and sent us to their insurance company (who nickel and dimed us!!) leaving us with months and months of workmen and contractors here to clean up their disaster - DO NOT use this company ! During the Merrimack valley gas explosions, we discovered the gas most likely will not return for s couple of months. As I was all done with the cold showers with the cool weather, I decided to buy an electric water heater from Home Depot. This group were their recommended installers. I called them on Sunday when I bought it, told the service it was an emergency. It's Tuesday and I still haven't received a call back nor have they called with in the 48 hours of buying the product to schedule the service. Well climate zone, it's already been installed. You've lost another customer. I will be writing to Home Depot as well as I'm sure they wouldn't want to be associated with such inadequate services. Extremely poor service!!! read more

When we were getting our condo's oil-to-gas conversion done, I had about 3 or 4 people come out and give estimates. Climate Zone came in the cheapest, but not drastically less than the others. The guy who came out to do the measuring/etc seemed very knowledgeable and nice. We were supposed to get two rebates totaling around $500. When they came out to do the work, they told us one of those two rebates was not actually going to qualify because our chimney was not lined appropriately, so we would need to "side vent" the thing. OK, would rather lose a couple hundred dollars than risk burning down the house with an unlined chimney. Fast forward to the winter...when the heat comes up for the first time, it sounds as if there are banshees banging on our pipes and radiators with hammers. A different plumber said they should have treated the pipes to clean out all the gunk when they did the conversion, but they didn't. We had to wait until it got warmer, because the heat had to be turned off for 72 hours to let the treatment work. I honestly cannot overstate how loud the pipes were. Imagine how loud you think banging pipes can be, and then multiply it by 10...our upstairs neighbors found the banging to be annoying, and they were one floor above! I didn't get a full night's sleep the whole winter that year. Fast forward to ONE YEAR LATER(!!!), when I get a phone message that none of my purchases/services through them qualified for any rebates. Despite calling at least a dozen times, probably closer to two dozen times, and leaving my name and phone number because "so-and-so handles the rebates and she's not in the office" this is the first call back I ever received, and now we get no rebate at all. Fast forward another six months, when the condo above us decides to convert to oil-to-gas...at first, the people who did theirs said they would have to "side vent," but then they actually used a mirror to look up the chimney, and it turns out our chimney WAS lined, but starting a few feet up from the ground (right below the line where the pipes were vented in). In the end, after not getting those originally promised rebates, we probably spent slightly more than our neighbors. Oh, and they didn't lose any sleep over banging pipes, and they don't have a side venting pipe going overhead on their side of the basement. I wish these yelp reviews were around when I was doing my conversion. STAY AWAY from Climate Zone. read more

We needed a yearly inspection of our heating system. Our regular company was booked up. I contacted Home Depot who recommended Climate Zone. What a mistake. The guy came in around 2pm and worked on the furnace until 8pm. He had to call someone else to help him. This was just a yearly tune up for god sake! By the time they left the furnace was down and not working. A very bad experience. Climate Zone is a no no. Hire real professionals. read more

It is impossible to imagine better service than that which I received from this company. Andrew Dipietro's Climate Zone installed central air conditioning in my house in Gloucester last Novemebr: two split units and one conventional ducted system on the second floor. 8 months later, I discovered a problem with one system. I called the company and they sent someone out immediately. The technician tested everything he could but could not get to the bottom of the problem. Climate Zone then the next day, sent their service manager, Rob. This man was unbelievable! He spent hours running through my system and checking everything. He concluded there was something wrong with the Mitsubishi condenser. He called the manufacturer's rep and they gave him several things to try in order to fix my problem. None of them worked. Rob then returned with his head of installations and they went through everything again to try to find the problem, to no avail. At this point, they were both convinced that the problem was in the Mitsubishi condenser. Mitsubishi didn't agree. They kept trying to blame the company, saying their was a restriction in the lines they installed. Rob then returned with a representative from his distributor and they ran through a number of things and still the problem wsn't fixed. Rob was still convinced the problem was in the condenser itself, but Mitsubishi didnt agree and they sent out a factory representative who came back with the distributor's rep for yet another service call, and the two of them made Rob jump through hoops, repeating many things he had already done, like draining, refilling, and triple evacuating the system, checking valves, checking the fan, checking the lines, checking sensors, etc. Finally when everything was completed, Rob stood up for me, his customer, and his company forced Mitsubishi to give me a new unit. Rob returned with Donny the installation manager and the two of them installed the new unit, and lo and behold, everything was fixed! A lesser man would have given up, but Rob was perisistent in his attempts to make everything right for me. He was super patient with Mitsubishi who frankly treated him like he didn't know what he was doing, in spite of his extensive experience. They made him do things two and three and four times, but Rob kept his cool and satisfied their demands because he wanted to make things right for me. I had a very unusual problem and Rob was persistent (and correct) in his belief in what was wrong, and he stuck with it until everything was fixed. Buying a system and having it installed is one thing (which they did very well), standing behind your work and making sure everything is right is a whole other thing. In my opinion, this is where a company's true value shows up. Climate Zone was outstanding and could not have been better. They have me as a customer forever. I too found Climate Zone through Home Depot. I had a ductless system installed in my home (Mitsubishi MSZ/MXZ combo, 3 heads, 1 compressor). The salesman, Sean, came to my house twice to discuss the installation and was in constant contact over phone and text messages answering my questions and helping me figure things out. Sean was the only salesman who listened to what our concerns were and addressed them head on without trying to up-sell us or sell us on some other product for which we did not ask. The install took less than a day and was all-inclusive. Jimmy, Harry, and Kyle are great guys who installed the system very professionally. I was very happy with the work and care the guys took while installing. The system is working well so far cooling the house a bit over the last few days. I will update here again after I have some time to see the system perform in the cooler months in it's heating capacity. read more

THEY WILL SCREW YOU! Look at all the reviews. SAME ISSUE HERE! Subcontract via Home Depot. They up sold me on a unit the biggest and best. Come to find out my 700sqft place needs two due to the levels so i should have been sold two small units. They came to re-evaluate agreed needed two heads. Said they were sorry and would do what they could to make things right, such as replacing the top end unit with a lesser unit to accommodate the price of the extra head downstairs. They came back over with their solution weeks later. They said add another head but i needed to keep the top of the line, massive unit upstairs as the "think" any smaller would cause problems, and then he says well due to this we will help you out. me thinking ok the small unit free, or replace big unit and two smalls to make up for cost. no. discount of 500$ brining the new head down to 4900!......ok so total for both heads would be over 10K$?!?!? where does this make sense? my place is 700sqft...i could put in HVAC for that price, secondly i could use a floor heater and heat my unit. I got this for AC and heat. So now i am dealing with a 59 degree downstairs but a comfy upstairs and I am on week 3, of Home Depot saying they are working with them, yet no progress has been made. AWFUL COMPANY not worth the headaches. The one positive review here was clearly left by someone associated with the company. You don't just have this many EXTREMELY similar reviews and say they are all made up. read more

Climate Zone installed 5 head Hyper Heat & Cooling system in one unit of our 2 family. Installation went well. A few weeks later we discovered that the electrician had wired it to the wrong unit...which he quickly corrected. After 2 weeks we had an issue with the condenser. There was a malfunction that their tech, Nick discovered very quickly. He called the manufacturer and had them overnight the part, had it installed the next day. He was great! So far we love this system, it's silent, efficient-everything Sean (the sales person) said it would be. read more

Very disappointed with Climate Zone. I too was directed to them through Home Depot. Original install was done in the winter months for some reason. They did not want to wait until spring. When I first turned the unit on six months later it would not work. The brand new mini-splits need a new motor which was replaced. I used the units for one season (three months and only the ac). I had it serviced. Next season the ac blew hot air. Climate Zone came out and there was a hole someplace and all the coolant leaked out. They wanted me to pay for everything. We came to an agreement. I do not feel I should have had to pay anything. The tubing was damaged due to the installation. I certainly never touch the unit. This year the condenser hose fell off from the roof to the ground. They came out and fixed it and charged over $200.00. I feel the product and the installation were both below average. I would not recommend Climate Zone or Home Depot for that matter. Once Home Depot sells you the unit and directs you to their "preferred" subcontractor, they are done with you. read more

Quoted me almost double what reputable plumbers charge. I cancelled the contract the next day that I signed with no money down. Climate Zone received and kept my boiler and the $1500 rebate from national grid. Three months later due to pressure from National Grid, I obtained the boiler in November. Andrew DiPietro is a greedy, heartless business man. Avoid at all cost!! The contractor that I hired, Frank Gouveia, was honest and saved me at least $3000.
