They always make you have a credit card on file. The charge you for your co pay before you sit down, and then if anything is down in the exam, you are required that moment to pay what they think is your portion. Right now, they owe me money back and it has been impossible trying to get it. Also, Dr, Amoils recommended hearing aids for me, and began by saying not the Costco cheap ones either. The nightmare just never ends with this place! I had my tonsils removed by Dr. Clifford Amoils over two years ago. Today, I somehow received ANOTHER BILL from that surgery--for the nurse anesthetist, who should have been paid YEARS AGO!! I had surgery in June 2021. I am now 28 and have not even been on the insurance I was on at the time for over 2 years. Dr. Amoils has a smug, cloying personality but at least did a fine job on my surgery. He's friendly, but in a way you can tell is about his own ego. His schedule coordinator, Tiffany, was a complete jerk. Before the surgery, my mother called with several questions. Tiffany ultimately answered her, but was exceptionally rude--sighing and replying sarcastically--because she decided I was an adult and should be calling myself. I was working, so it was simply easier for my mother to call. None of this was Tiffany's business. She was nice in person, but acted like a bratty teen over the phone and made the experience deeply unpleasant. The questions revolved around insurance approving my surgery and were important, but clearly Tiffany only saw them as a bother. I was also bothered when I had to drive to Antelope Valley for the surgery and discovered the surgery center was co-owned by Dr. Amoils himself. It felt very underhanded to never be told we were making a long drive so that Dr. Amoils could claw more money from my insurance. Shady behavior from a man who should already be making plenty of money. My mother and I were told the day of my surgery that we would pay for the facility that day, which we did, and later only receive bills for the doctor and nurse anesthetist. We paid anything we were sent. All should be settled. We had already been blown away by the EOB for over $87,000 for a quick, routine surgery (with charges being particularly high for the facility that Dr. Amoils himself co-owns--can't you just feel the smarmy, scammy vibe?). Nevertheless, we received a bill in the mail 18 MONTHS LATER for almost $300. The surgery had happened so long ago that initially we didn't even understand what appointment or procedure the bill could possibly be for. I called to inquire about that bill and was told that the surgery center had switched billing providers sometime in that past 18 months and bills that should've gone out over the past year had not. My father chose to accept this and paid the bill. That charge was allegedly for the doctor. Again, we should be done paying for this nonsense. Now, it's OCTOBER 2023 and we have received ANOTHER BILL in the mail, this time for over $600 for a nurse anesthetist. After calling both my prior insurance company and the billing company for Dr. Amoils (Advanced Pain Medical Group), the over $600 bill was corrected to just under $60. Thank god we called, because I doubt if we had paid $600+ we would've been refunded at all. It may not meet the legal definition, but the word 'extortion' comes to mind readily. There's more I could say, but overall my experience with SCENT has been an unending nightmare. Apparently the statute of limitations for medical billing in California is 4 years. I hope to never hear from SCENT or Advanced Pain Medical Group in the future, but especially not in the next 2 years before said statute for my tonsillectomy expires. read more

Recently had surgery to fix a deviated septum and the uvula removed. Dr Amoils was amazing and so was his staff. From the initial appointment to post op treated so well. He warned me I would be in pain for about ten days. He made sure I had everything in advance to make sure I would be comfortable. He warned me to make sure I took care of myself. He called the evening of the surgery to make sure I was ok. I can honestly say I could not be happier. Was I in pain for 10 days. No. I just was sensitive to food texture and salt. It didn't stop me from much. Yes I took it easy but over all it really was not to bad. I can breath so much better and wish I would of done it sooner. It's a horrible experience to have the surgery of removing tonsils and adenoids by Dr.Amoil.This surgery is most simple one but it was a failure.Especially Dr. Amoil even was hiding the result of the failed surgery with patients which is not acceptable.We eventually had to see a different ENT and took a face CT to diagnose his failed surgery.My daughter is only 3 years old but she suffered twice surgery within 6 months.Thanks God!The second survey is successful with a different ENT.If your kids have the similar issues,I highly recommend to consult with different ENT not Dr.Amoil otherwise your family will suffer the same situation like us. read more

I waited over a month for an appointment with Dr. Amoils specifically because I read good things about him. Well, I was disappointed with the quality of care I received after my wait. The appointment was rushed through, barely lasting 10 minutes, and cost over $200 when all was said and done with my insurance. It didn't seem like he cared about me, perhaps because he's used to seeing older patients with debilitating illnesses. Regardless of the reason, my issue was minimized without taking my concerns seriously. I wasn't even told how to treat the issue I came to resolve until I was already out the door in full earshot of all the patients and staff in the waiting room and administrative area. My patient privacy was violated and it is unacceptable. Overall, I have had a higher quality and more professional experience at doctors and even urgent care climics throughout the Santa Clarita, San Fernando, and Antelope Valleys. With the proximity to one of the biggest cities in the world, I will not settle for supporting places that choose to coldly grind patients through the cogs the healthcare machine. read more

I would like to thank Dr. Amoils and staff. I have been having breathing problems for 3 years. I have gone to other ENT Dr.'s and no one has helped. When I finally went to Dr. Amoils office in Palmdale for the first time, I was greeted with a smile from the staff and I only waiting 3-5 minutes before they called me back. Right away Dr. Amoils sent me for a Ct Scan and found out the problems. With in in weeks I was going into surgery. He did a new state of the art balloon Sinuplasty, Turbinate Reduction and fixed my Deviated Septum. It is now 7 weeks later and I am finally breathing. He listens and has a great positive attitude. After a couple of months of reduced hearing, I made an appointment with Dr Amoils. It was a 2hr drive due to lack of services in my hometown. I was scheduled to have a hearing test followed by a visit with the doctor. Not my idea. Seems like the exam would have revealed at least part of the issue but that's their policy. During the med intake for hearing test, it was discovered both ears were severely impacted with wax. Then my appointment with the doctor became an issue. I was moved to exam room after I was told that drops should be put in my ears to soften the buildup. Apparently, no time for drops and doctor would have to address my issue between other scheduled patients. Now, as you recall, I have a scheduled appointment with the doctor too. So, doctor arrives and promptly begins digging wax out of my ears. I have never had an issue before or experienced wax removal. Very uncomfortable! Very Rushed! Didn't mange to remove all of it! Probably lasted about 3-5mins. Prescribed drops and expected to return. Pharmacist and doctor not on the same page as far as drops usage! No appointment available for 2 weeks! Yep, what a whirlwind. I went to Dr. Amoils because I was having trouble breathing on one side of my nose. I knew that this was due to being hit in the nose years ago and I just never got it checked out. He confirmed my broken nose and deviated septum and laid out very clearly my options regarding surgery. I am now 1.5 months post op and couldn't be happier. Now the results are not 100% as no surgery will result in that but I am extremely happy. The surgery also consisted of a rhinoplasty and I was so afraid of my nose looking so different that I wouldn't look like myself. That wasn't the case as people don't even realize I had surgery (even those who know I did). Additionally, one of the staff members, Tiffany was exceptional throughout the entire process. She was in charge of the billing and finding a location for me to have the surgery. She worked an entire week looking for the cheapest and convenient location that worked with my schedule as I was returning to school pretty soon. Being my first surgery ever, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended. I have been seeing Dr. Amoils for over 25 years and recently he performed a procedure called Clarifix and Balloon Sinuplastey on both nasal passages. I have been unable to breathe thru my nose for many years and had been waking up with my mouth being extremely dry. This was extremely disruptive to my sleep. Dr. Amoils told me about this procedure and I decided to go ahead with it recently. It has been a few months and the results are great. The procedure was not unpleasant and I went home soon afterwards. I now sleep thru the night and am not taking allergy pills anymore. I felt rushed a tad with him but when I asked for him to examine my throat further he did so with no problem! He said I had laryngitis and heart burn and prescribed Prilosec and Flanase. He also recommended the speech Doctor in two weeks to take pics of my vocal cords. I gave it 4 stars because I felt a tad rushed and the nurse was not really personable. I brought my college age daughter here after she had tonsillitis 6 times in the last year. I had ongoing issues with dizziness, stuffy feeling/pressure in my ears, headaches and ear aches. I went to several ENT doctors who were not able to figure out was going on. I was frustrated and hoped it would go away on it's own, but instead it was getting worse. A couple of friends (one doctor, one nurse) recommended that I visit Dr. Amoils - as soon as I met him, I knew he would be able to help. He listened to my concerns, understood exactly what I was experiencing and set up a C-Scan for more details. Once we got the results back, he could see exactly where I had sinus/Eustachian tube blockage and recommended out-patient surgery. He performed the surgery and within a few days I could already feel the results of his work. It's been 2 weeks since the surgery and I am almost at 100% better. I am no longer dizzy, my ears are not congested, my teeth/jaw no longer hurts, and I am able to breathe easy again. Dr. Amoils has been our families doctor for many years. He is the only doctor that has successfully helped me with my sinuses. I just recently had Dr. Amoils perform a facelift surgery. I just followed up this repair with Dr. Amoils piercing my ears. He placed the earrings away from the previous times. More importantly, he has both ears even and BOTH holes pointing straight ahead. I'm very happy with Dr. Amoils. Apparently, I've had severe sinusitis and recurring sinus infections for over 30 years. I never realized that anything could be done besides cortical steroids and other short-term sinus meds. Several times a year I would sneeze loudly, sniffle constantly, and snort deeply as self help to relieve my symptoms. Never realizing that I had more than simple hay fever. My sinuses were severely clogged, and I was unaware that I had a deviated septum! My daughter would complain about my bad breath, even when my mouth was closed! Probably my clogged and infected sinuses. Eventually, my hearing was affected. Dr. Amoils and his staff examined me, including hearing tests and a CT scan. When antibiotics offered only temporary relief, Dr. Amoils suggested surgery using a balloon procedure. My sinuses are clear and wide open now, and Amoils also repaired my deviated septum. My daughter says that I no longer have bad breath. No more crazy loud sneezes, sniffles, or deep guttural snorts. I do a sinus rinse from time to time to stay clear. Again, I'm very happy, and I'm cured. Btw, Dr. Amoils explained another reason why my sinuses may have been so impacted was using my CPAP machine without its humidifier (for months, if not more than a year). I avoided using my CPAP due to nasal pain. Now, I use my CPAP humidifier, and I have no nasal pain because my sinuses are clear and not dried-out. If you have so called allergies or hay fever, have Amoils check you out. Your sinuses may be clogged. Brought my daughter in to see the Physician's Assistant Stacey. She is absolutely exceptional. She takes her time, explains your condition and was gentle and kind with my little one. I was so grateful to have found someone to help us with our much needed ear infection issues. When it was time to leave I was told by the front office girl that I owed $130.00 for the visit. I calmly explained that we had met our deductible and there was a misunderstanding. She immediately got rude and let me know that was what she was seeing and if I didn't want to pay I could take a seat because it was going to be a while while they looked into it. At that point I realized although they were wrong I was being held hostage because they expected their payment immediately. This office will not bill you later after your insurance is billed. They want their money immediately, and in my case they were wrong. After 35 minutes of my daughter and I being ignored and waiting in the waiting room unable to leave the office they finally unapologetically admitted that I owed them no money from my deductible and allowed me to leave. Needless to say she missed preschool, and I was very upset by the dismissive and rude way I was treated and shocked by their greed. If they need to be paid the day of the visit why didn't they call on my coverage while I was in with my daughter seeing the PA or even better believe me when I told them we had already met our deductible. Steer clear of this place or make sure you have your insurance figured out ahead of time and a credit card ready even if they are wrong and lots of time on your hands while they figure it out!!! read more

Dr. Amoils is an excellent doctor. He performed a tonsillectomy on my college age daughter. He explained things and his bedside manner is top notch. We never had to wait for our appointment -- he was always on time, and when we were early, we were seen right away. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the mix up by his staff on scheduling the surgery. It was set for a specific date and when we showed up (from out of town) we were told that it was the following week as per the schedule from the doctor's office. We had a letter from Dr. Amoils' scheduling staff showing that date. The surgery center was very kind and told us to wait for Dr. Amoils and see if he could fit us in. After seeing many doctors, an acquaintance of mine referred me to Dr. Amoils to address my son's tonsils. They were inflamed, infected and he snored all the time. He would only eat food that was soft in texture. Upon seeing Dr. Amoils, he recommended that I have his tonsils and adnoids removed. That was 3 years ago and my son's health has improved dramatically. He sleeps through the night, can breathe so much easier and is rested. I don't regret having the surgery for my son and he is so much better as a result. Dr. Amoiles is also treating him for indoor and outdoor allergies. He recommended allergy drops (to address the outdoor allergies) instead of shots. Although the drops are not covered by insurance, I don't want to subject my son to shots. He is doing much better with the drops and I'm grateful that there is a less invasive solution to treat his allergies. In addition, Dr. Amoiles also treated by daughter by inserting tubes into her ears. I had a feeling that she was not hearing well and as it turned out, she wasn't hearing out of one ear and the other ear was 80% blocked due to fluid not being able to drain correctly, so it hardened in her ear canal. Again, Dr. Amoils recommended tubes and now my daughter can hear! That was a year ago and I'm ever so grateful. Bottom line: If you are looking for a doctor that will address your concerns, give you great advice as well as provide you with the time you need and not feel rushed, Dr. Amoils is the one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of seeing. I'm not sure how he scored five stars in here. My appt. was at 4:40, I waited longer than when he saw me for my clogged left ear. He probably spent a minute with me. He told me I have pressure in my ear, but he never looked at my ear. He only did quickly looked at my mouth/throat. He asked if I experience anxiety. I said sometimes. He said that he will order some blood testing for me. When I saw the order for blood test, there was a note that I have anxiety disorder. He just asked me one question about anxiety and he assessed me right away that I have anxiety disorder. A person who has anxiety disorder usually has difficulty controlling it, and it may negatively affect their day-to-day living. I don't even feel anxiety everyday/all the time. That's not me at all! How could he assessed me with that disorder?? Furthermore, Jennifer at the front desk was not helpful and friendly. She told me, "go over there for blood test..." I asked her, where?? Jennifer said, "there..." I replied, I'm not familiar in this area, do you have a name of the place and address. Apparently, it's in the same area/plaza. She can't explain herself well and assumed that I know what she was thinking. When I went to the blood place, it was closed; they close at 4:30 pm. Jennifer doesn't know that. I went back and told her that the blood place was closed already. Good thing when I went back and told her that the blood place was closed already, I asked if the blood work order will be part of my visit or will be covered. I'm not sure how it all works, I don't go often to the doctors. Jennifer doesn't know... So, why did she quickly told me to go to that blood place, if she doesn't know if it will be covered or not?!! She should have told me to "call my Motion Picture Insurance first." I would never want to go back to that place again!! read more

We went to Dr Amoils office to have him examine my 5 year old son who has a hoarse voice. He did so, expertly and professionally. He had us scheduled for a throat specialist, two weeks later. Two weeks later, we show up. The front staff tells us to pay about 300 dollars first. I was shocked. They said we needed to pay that amount, even before they billed my insurance! Then I was told I had to pay the 300 NOW, or my son would not be seen. I said that I could not pay, since I was not prepared to pay that amount without a bill, or notification that I needed to bring that payment to this follow up visit. my wife spoke to the office manager, over the phone. She once again said that my son would not be seen, without paying them 300 dollars. She was told that we were not prepared for this, but could my son be seen, and I would bring a check later in the day? Again the manager refused to let my son be seen. Basically, my 5-year sons medical care was held hostage for money. I have no problem paying for services rendered. That is my responsibility and I have always paid. But they had not billed my insurance company yet, and they expected me to pay, without billing me, or notifying me in any way. So, I took my son, and I left.
