Cleveland Ford Service Department - Absolute Failure I've genuinely tried to give this dealership a chance, especially after a great experience with their at-home mobile oil change on my Lariat. Unfortunately, when it comes to scheduling an actual appointment at the dealership, Cleveland Ford fails across the board. I originally called and scheduled an appointment. Then three days before the visit, I got an email changing both the time and the service advisor. The next day? Another email--different advisor, different time. I called to ask why the appointment kept changing and to confirm whether my vehicle would be done the same day. I was told no advisors were available and someone would call me back. No one ever did. The day before the appointment, I called again to confirm the time and was told they were expecting me that day, not the next. Again, I was told someone would call me back. Again, no one called. So the day of the scheduled service--4x4, transmission service, oil change, and coolant flush--I did not drop off my truck because no one ever returned my calls about timing or transportation. Only then did they finally call asking if I was coming in. I explained everything and said no. And for the third time, they said someone would call me back. You can guess how that went: NO CALL. I even tried reaching the GM, Craig. That's a joke too. All numbers dump into their IVR system. I messaged the dealership directly and asked to have him call me. Instead, a sales guy called me about "my purchase of a new vehicle." Completely unacceptable and not even remotely what I asked for. If Cleveland Ford can't even manage a simple service appointment or return a phone call, why on earth would I trust them to work on my vehicle? I'll be taking my truck to Chattanooga where competence still exists. Absolute FAIL. read more

I had to take my vehicle in for a recall and was dreading in because I looked at the reviews on Yelp. Don't trust any of the other places because the dealership begs you to fill out their questionnaire giving them 5 starts. Then they say if you can't give them a 5 to give them a call and they'll make it better. How about do the job correctly and receive a honest review? They really should just be a honest and caring dealership. Just read the reviews here and the negative ones are probably correct. JD CATLETT IS THE MAN!!! Just a good dude who has a genuine love for cars. Just wanted to give huge thanks to JD and LaTosha Allen for helping me find a highly sought after, limited-production edition model Lexus IS. I was a remote buyer from Georgia and JD made it such a smooth process every step of the way. We went here to find a car for my son. Found one we thought was a great deal. We made an appointment to come in at 1:00 the following Thursday, 01/16/25 (2 days after test driving it) to make the purchase, expecting everything to be taken care of for a quick, easy transaction, as we were paying cash. It still took over 2 hours, and we had to sit through NUMEROUS sales pitches about purchasing an extended warranty - worse than any timeshare pitch I have EVER heard! And, because $3500 extra would have only covered drivetrain issues, it would not have touched the problem we have dealt with since the evening of picking up the car. Also, because we were purchasing a used vehicle, our salesman (Brock) who "gassed it up" only put in 1/2 a tank. Apparently, even though used cars are nearly as expensive as new these days, if you are "too cheap" to buy new, you don't deserve a full tank of gas. Added to that, they said they put a new display system in for us that morning because the one that was in it did not work. It was working when we test drove it, however. I drove it to Nashville to deliver it to my son. Later that evening, I got in it to show him all the wonderful features of his "new" used car, and the display did not work. Since then, it has not worked most of the time, and when it does, it is only after rebooting it. Obviously, it is a wiring problem, not a display problem, and although I have contacted them numerous times, no one has contacted me back! Once they have your money, they don't care anymore! Purchased and traded a vehicle in with Cleveland Ford and it was nothing more than a bad experience from the beginning. Called in on the morning of Friday 11/29 to inquire about a used vehicle on the lot. Gave them my information and was informed that I would receive a call back from a used car specialist so they could review my trade in and we could work on getting some numbers on paper before I made the 2 hour drive to the dealer. Waited most the afternoon and never received a call or text as promised. I decided to call back to the dealership later that afternoon and found out not only did they have my number in the system wrong they also had the wrong name in the system...I guess that should've been the first red flag for me. They "updated" the system and called me back requesting information on my trade as well as pictures. I sent in the requested information and received a call back from Glen shortly there after. We discussed number on my trade as well as their numbers on the truck. Glen stated that there was a non negotiable $699 doc fee as well as a $1300 upcharge (a pulsing 3rd brake light as well as a paint protective) however, those items could be removed to lower the numbers. I told Glen that I wanted those "additional" items removed as they weren't something I was interested in and that I would be there between 10AM- 10:30 AM Saturday morning to do the paperwork and trade vehicles. Saturday morning I arrived at the dealership and was greeted by Glen. He immediately started taking photos of my trade before I even looked or test drove their vehicle. I found it odd but he stated the photos were for the appraiser, also weird since they had already given me a number on my trade in. The used car manager came out and took my car for a test drive while my husband was out test driving the vehicle we were interested in. Went in the to start reviewing the paperwork only to realize none of the paperwork had been started...another red flag! I told Glen that I needed to make the process speedy as I had both my children there (2 under 2) It seemed that the request went unheard as it was tons of back and forth to the copier, and lots of confusion surrounding taxes, tags, and fees since I was an out of state buyer. Oh and the upcharge isn't something that can be removed! Over 2 hours later I finally made it to the other building to do the finance side of things, also strange to split buildings on one deal. I to text my husband and ask if the truck was ready (stickers removed, vehicle cleaned, temp tag, and gas topped off) so we could hit the road when the paperwork was done to which he responded NO! Monday morning 12/2 I received a call from the used car manager informing me the dealership left their extension cord and inflatable Santa in the bed of the truck to which they requested to send a driver to my home 2 hours away to pick up their Santa because they didn't want to come out of pocket another $500 for a new one. I was also advised by the used car manager that Glen was no longer employed with Cleveland Ford, not something that really should've been discussed with me. Seems to me the Santa would've never been left if the detail job had actually been completed as it should've been! Tuesday 12/3 I get a call from my husband informing me that Cleveland Ford had my trade in posted for sale and to check the photos online. Check the listing and see the "appraisal" photos of my car listed on their website with pictures on my personal license plate AND pictures on my minor child! To say my blood was boiling at this point is a complete understatement! I called the dealership demanding the pictures to be removed immediately and was told the managers were in a meeting they would deal with it when they were done. After multiple hours/ days of my child and my tag information being out on the World Wide Web the photos were finally removed. Cleveland ford has done nothing to make these issues right so unless you want pictures of you minor child or personal information posted out on a for sale ad I'd say take your business elsewhere. read more

Gave me 100k mike drivetrain warranty, did not honor it. Known Chevy transmission shutter issue, said warranty would not cover because I did not have ALL maintenance records as instructed by the warranty. I presented to him the transmission service record, from the Chevy dealership, confirming they completed a transmission service. He said he needed engine service records as well. What does oil change records on the engine have to do with the transmission? I asked. He said. They are real strict. He also said. "I know of another customer who had a complete engine failure and the warranty was denied because the customer failed to change the cabin air filter." You really need to be crazy to buy a car from this dealership. I was trying to purchase a car from them and was told from Chris that if I wanted to finance the car I would have to finance the entire amount and not the large amount that I offered, of which I found strange, but agreed. So I put $1000 deposit down with my info:, and did not hear back from them 2 days. I did get a phone call from Wells Fargo, and was told that the loan is not secured yet, that they needed more info. So I decided that this is just not going to happen because of my credit, so I decided to move on from there. I called Chris and told him that I will not be purchasing the car, and if can return my deposit. He told me that there secured financing, of which I knew was not true, because I just got off the phone with Wells Fargo. I knew at that point that he was not telling me the truth, and that they are probably shopping me around to other banks, of which I really did not want. He said that they will not be returning my deposit, and I would need to go through with the deal. Thank god I did not put a $10,000 deposit down(?). While the post purchase process was frustrating, I believe they put alot of effort into trying to make it right (and eventually cut a check for the price protection incentive that was due). We were misled about the warranty by our salesman when we bought our Explorer. When we needed to use the warranty we were told by Justin that the warranty company would not fix our oil leak on our car and we would have to pay $2700 for it to be fixed, because my husband changed a filter and spark plugs himself instead of paying the dealership to do it. My experience with this dealership was that I had found a used f150 that they had bought from a car sale. The window price was around 42k but "they could do better"...by the time I got an otd price it was right at 50k. Apparently they have some kind of "safety package" they throw on that adds an additional 2k. Anytime I see that I just assume there's plenty of other dishonest things going on. A few months later I basically bought the same truck with about 50k less miles (and 4wd) from marshal mize for about 7k less. Don't waste your time. read more

Highly do NOT recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership. My experience was extremely disappointing. I picked my our used truck, we got it home and tried the sunroof it got stuck opened and would not close. We had the truck home for maybe 45 mins. We did not try the sunroof at the dealership, we were told everything worked on the truck. I messaged my sales person and he stated there was nothing that could be done but did get approval to shut it and would have the shop call me. I asked if it was checked during inspection and he stated yes the service manager noted it worked but it made a popping noise. The popping noise was not disclosed to us before buying. I called the manager to express my disappointment and he expressd there was nothing they could do, it was working but he also stated the service manager noted a popping. Clearly something was not looked into properly if notes indicated it made a popping sound; and it got stuck the first time we opened it. The manager advised us to bring the truck in and they would see if they could close it but couldn't say weather we would be billed for that or the dealership would handle the cost for closing it. I did reach out to the shop, however I did not hear back. I'm not sure if the sunroof not working would have deterred us form buying the truck but the experience at the dealership will deter us from buying a vehicle here again or recommending them. read more

Typical dealership... they are all smiles all on point until you sign on the signature line. After that they don't know who you are, pass you onto associate after associate to get an answer to a question. WARNING: Be very careful with the finance guy. They show you the costs of everything but after thinking you have a life time warranty that comes with the car, they will slip in another warranty that (how convenient) is not priced on the list. It shows up at the end when you are ready to close the deal. That happened to us. Extended lifetime warranty was explained to us but never was there a cost mentioned (the car came with a limited lifetime warranty) until we saw the bottom line amount and it was an additional $2k. We thought he was explaining the warranty that DID come with the car at no additional cost. We told him to immediately take it off and he did. But we left feeling that was rather shady to do that. We bought our truck there when it was Larry Hill and we will not return to this dealership. They don't seem to look to the future for returning customers. read more

My father was a salesman, and then he owned his own store, which I was raised in I know all about how business works and also how it makes customers feel especially when you negotiate.... There is nothing here that is negotiable. They were very adamant. I even had the temporary tag on the vehicle and insurance put on it then they throw in a $3000 curveball. I ended up telling them they could keep it. The salesman JD (awesome guy he needs a raise) was very nice and said we could work with it. The finance manager named Abu was being shadowed by someone Atlanta and I guess he wanted to waste the day trying to convince me to pay an extra $3000 that was not on the sales agreement. And I'm not talking about the extended warranty crap. I guess he just wanted to show who was bigger and better at selling cars since he was being shadowed. Needless to say I took my $20,000 elsewhere. if you're going to invest that much money in a vehicle, it's nice to know that you can trust your dealership. I've totally lost trust with this one. How can you literally about hand the keys to someone they've already got their stuff in the vehicle, then throw a curveball like that. They had over priced the vehicle. That's not my problem that's theirs. I just hope that somebody will read this and do some research before they go here and know the exact price of what the car is actually worth. My experience purchasing a vehicle remotely with Cleveland Ford in Cleveland, Tennessee was a NIGHTMARE. I do like the used vehicle I purchased, but the service and sales were disorganized, rife with miscommunication, and, frankly, horrible. First, be advised, that they tack on a "safety package," which includes a ceramic coating and pulsing brake light at a cost of almost $1400. I told them I did want it, and finally, they took the charge for that down to just under $800. My salesman, Byron Linley, and I finally agreed upon an "out-the-door" price, plus the fee for "taxes, tag, and title," after I told him I did NOT plan to trade in my car for the low offer of $2000. I told him I would be paying for taxes, tag, and title in Mississippi, so he recalculated, saying it must be added to the price when financing/a lien is involved. I agreed. Ultimately, I was sent a final itemized sales sheet with a pricing breakdown, which was attached to an e-mail as a dark, difficult-to-read photo. I looked primarily at the final price, which is what Byron had apparently gotten approved and we agreed upon. A few days later, I drove over 4 hours to the dealership. Upon arrival, I met with Byron, who told me he had only recently started working in sales after having been shifted from answering phones at the dealership. After printing and shuffling through papers, Byron ventured to the glass booth at the front, and sales manager Chopper Lamar returned to Bryon's desk without Byron. He sat down and informed me that Byron had failed to remove the discount for the trade-in, so I owed $2000 more than the out-the-door price, for which I had specifically brought a check from my credit union, along with my down payment of $4500. I had already paid $500 to hold the vehicle until I arrived. I became upset with Chopper, and he said it was simply a miscommunication and asked if Byron should be punished, considering that he was new at the job. I told him their salesmen needed better training and communication skills--and asked him if I, in turn, should be the one punished for the problem. After some heated disagreement, I walked out. I returned later and negotiated once more. I still ended up paying $1100 more for the vehicle than I had been told. Moreover, I am in the process of getting a new driver's license reflecting my maiden name because I have moved from Tennessee to Mississippi, and my old Tennessee driver's license still shows my married name following a divorce. I have an updated Social Security card and U.S. passport with the correct maiden name, and the lien on the vehicle is also in my correct maiden name, but they INSISTED on putting the title in the INCORRECT divorced name on what is soon-to-be my old driver's license. Byron ASSURED me that my Mississippi clerk's office would EASILY be able to rectify the difference in name, but I have since found out that is not the case. Further, the temporary 30-day Tennessee tag they put on it is not valid in Mississippi after 7 days, and it's apparently going to take the dealership WEEKS to get the paperwork necessary to procure the tag sent to the clerk in my county. To complicate even further, the employee in the Mississippi clerk's office told me that the tax amount paid at sale generally does NOT include the fee for the tag, despite what Byron put into writing, so I may end up paying an ADDITIONAL amount to get the tag. I would never recommend this dealership to anyone, and I plan to do everything I can to publicize widely the highly stressful experience I had here. read more

Purchased a car on December 13th. The sales people were attentive and everything was great!! Waited until January 9th on paperwork for tag in Georgia and my New Title. Called the dealership because the temp tag was about to expire. After checking, they discovered they had not even sent the paperwork to transfer the title or tag. If you purchase a car here, you need to follow up on paperwork. A few of the other reviews say the same things! The new tag and title have finally arrived. Terrible establishment. We made an appointment to speak with Brad to look at trading a truck in for a new Bronco. When we were ten minutes out, they called us to see where we were and then told us when we arrived to ask for Brad. When we arrive, we saw only two soft-top Broncos and not the hard-top models we were looking to test drive. We were greeted at the door by a gentleman who told us that Brad it was his day off and that he had also been transferred to the used car building next door. I told the guy we had an appointment with him and someone in admin had called us to confirm just minutes before. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. He jut looked at me and told us to go and speak to someone completely different to get an appraisal on the vehicle we wished to trade in. He then informed us there were no Broncos available to test drive; just "floor models." So now they expect you to purchase a vehicle sight unseen just like everything else online!? This is all due to COVID and the related shortages and it's a bunch of crap. I can buy toilet paper online if need be - but not a $50k vehicle. This is a shady establishment - stay away. read more

Thursday 19 Jan 2023. The check engine light pops up a couple days later and it feels like the transmission gears down. I call they say it will be a week to get the engine light checked and a month if it is the transmission to get it in just to figure out the problem. I call and leave a message for the manager and about half hour later they say bring it in and they will check on their computer. I notice on the way there that I see no oil change sticker on windshield and check my oil percentage and it says 9% life of oil left. They say oh the technician just forgot to reset the oil life switch and it was changed. The check engine light says it was a misfire. He turns the check engine light off and says bring it back if it happens again. Also I have been trying to get a recall done that may lead to a fire inside the car and I always get parts on back order for the past year. So now I'm left with, here we go again, and no idea if the work I just paid a thousand for was truly even done. Now the check engine light back on. read more

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. We dropped my husbands mustang off on Dec 31st 2019 to get an oil change and to have a noise checked out. On Jan 1 2020 we were told the sway bar was worn out and needed to be replaced. Cool, they would order the parts and fix it and call when it was ready. Jan 6 2020 they called said it was good to go, we went Jan 7 2020 to pick it up. Mind you we live 45 mins from the dealership. We got just out of the parking lot and the car started making the same noise again. Turned around and informed the tech it was not fixed. They told us to leave it and they will have the "master tech" look at it. Fast forward to today, Jan 24 2020 and we still don't have the car. And for 2 weeks we have been told 6 different things and no results. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and give no customer feedback on what is going on. We have asked twice now to speak to a service manager or a general manager, anyone really and never hearing from them. What I'm seeing is a unified consensus that the service department is awful, and over the course of 2 years has not gotten any better. I absolutely hate Cleveland Ford. I had a recall on my Ford Explorer for the steering gears in my steering wheel. That was the ONLY thing that was wrong with my car. I know that because a few weeks ago I had my car get fulled checked and everything was perfectly fine. I got my car back yesterday and everything seemed ok until this morning. I go to start my car and it acted like it was having a hard time starting. So what do I do? I call Ford and tell them about it and they tell me I have to get a new battery. I was like um no, my car was completely fine with no problems before I let your mechanics touch my car. Well long story short the woman on the phone refused to fix the problem they caused and now I have to buy a new battery when my personal mechanic told me before I won't need a battery for a while. What are the odds of this happening? I bring my vehicle to Ford to get my FREE recall and then something just happens to happen to my car the very next day? Coincidence? I don't think so. Bought the vehicle from them a couple months ago, and the process was good. Fast forward a few months and in order to keep the lifetime warranty you have to do scheduled maintenance. Ok, fine. Brought the car into the service center to do it, and the first time I was charged for services never given or approved which I didn't know about till later. I raised the issue with the advisor who said he would talk to the manager. Never heard anything else. Charges equaled over $250. Every time I have brought it in for maintenance, I have been upsold on parts and labor that weren't needed. (I.e "O rings for a dipstick) The advisor even tried to claim because he wasn't familiar with the financing provided by them for repairs (which the manager said they accepted) that I would have to get another loan which is insane. They kept my car for almost a week last time and didn't even do the inspection until I threatened to come get it and withhold payment, which magically had the car fixed and ready in a day. The service center is awful and will do whatever they can to rip you off or upsell you. Just skip the warranty and take it elsewhere for repairs. Spent over 2k dollars so far just to keep a warranty that only covered 1 thing, which currently has taken 2 days so far and still hasn't been fixed or even inspected. read more
