We were guided to the large parking lot! Mr. Mel Larussa, the proprietor himself, gave us a quick orientation and gave us directions to have the greatest apple picking time of our lives! Mrs. Larussa went out of her way and provided fresh cut samples of the Honeycrisp! Wow! Delish, sweet, firm. Like my fave IG models. Gonna leave with a bunch of Fujis and Pink Ladies! Had to nab several jars of the fantastic Sage clear honey! Nectar of the gods! Thank God for the birds and the bees! And before headed out we had a mini picnic on the veranda with picturesque views of the Clearview orchard! The apple bread was divine! Apple of My Pie Family-run 7.5-acre farm that operates a U-Pick for two months out of the year (Sept-Oct) and specializes in apples, squash, and honey. The Good: *All the trees planted on site are dwarfs to make life easier on everyone, especially kids. *Certified organic farm *Play area for young kids *Staff were all friendly and very helpful *Accept CCs to purchase *Reasonable pricing *Baked goods (e.g., apple turnovers, apple bread), lavender products, and fresh-pressed Apple Juice available for purchase. *They'll provide you with bags to collect your harvest, but you are also welcome to use your own reusable grocery bags. The Meh: *Wasn't a fan of their "Apple Butter," as it was more applesauce than apple butter. But, with that said, it was a fine applesauce fwiw. *Make sure you bring a cooler with ice if you plan to buy juice unless you're going straight home. I forgot to bring ours like a dummy. :( *No pet policy, so leave Fido at home. *Weekends only. Check their IG (@clearvieworchards) for updates. My husband and I visited Clearview Orchards with our daughter and a group of friends for the first time on September 21 of this year. It was our first time and we had a great experience! Also it was painfully hot in San Jose that day and refreshingly cool down in Watsonville. We made sure to make a reservation for our car beforehand ($7/car) and opted to reserve an apple turnover too. Their system provides multiple reminders for the event so you have no chance to forget it's happening, haha. Parking was super easy and felt almost like Disneyland with the amount of guidance for where to park, which was nice! There were plenty of families with small children roaming around. The apple-picking grounds are DEFINITELY not stroller-friendly--many hills with uneven ground--so I opted for a carrier to hold my little one. It was fun to pick the apples off the trees, even though their shop has a collection of beautiful apples well-stocked on a shelf. We grabbed a gallon of fresh apple juice (a bit of a splurge at $20) and enjoyed it for several days after. The turnover was actually a bit of a disappointment; it felt like it was mostly dough with a hint of apple! Overall, we would return next year, especially since my daughter was asleep for almost our entire visit this time :) read more

My second visit here and I enjoyed thoroughly. Remember to book your slot in advance with $7 per car and show the QR code at the gate to get in. Right from the parking lot, you'll be greeted with beautiful views and acres of trees. You can get as many packets as you need from the front desk before you venture out u-picking. Beware, the grounds can be really steep in places. Wear sturdy shoes and if you have folks with knee issues, try to choose rows for picking that are relatively less steep. The u-pick season started here on the 14th of September this year and we visited on the 21st, so there were still several rows of trees covered in yellow tape, meaning they aren't ripe enough for picking yet. This also meant that the trees that were ready for picking were bursting to the seam with apples on every branch - such a beautiful sight and a contrast to my last visit when we came in towards the end of the season and had to search for trees with some good apples left. I felt like a kid in a candystore as I went through row after row of gala, fuji, honeycrisp, and pink lady apples - my packets were heavy yet it was so difficult to stop picking. Interspersed with the apple orchards were lots of avocado trees - I wish they were open for u-pick too. An hour or two later, I paid for my 10 pounds of apples at $2.75 per pound and left feeling immensely happy and satisfied. FYI, the place accepts credit cards and also sells apple goodies like popsicles, turnovers etc. read more

First time I went apple picking, and I absolutely adored this place! Came here on the last weekend of picking, so there were only Fuji and gala apples left to pick from the tree. The other variates they grew were already picked and were available for purchase at the stand. The orchard is also certified organic! There's lots of signs to direct you from the parking lot to the Apple trees. Biodegradable bags are provided, so grab a few and head towards the trees to begin picking! There was a guy at the bags who helped explain the apple varieties available and how to distinguish them from another. After gathering a bunch of apples, we headed back to the stand to check them out. There's also gourds, squashes, and Brussels sprouts to purchase, as well as baked goods and honey! The honey is so good here. It's light and sweet. The ladies in the front told us that they put hives out in the spring to let the bees pollinate the apple trees and produce the amazing honey. The apples here are so yummy, they're super sweet and crunchy! Definitely give this place a visit when it's apple season again! PRO TIP: make sure to bring napkins to wipe down the apples when trying them! Also be warned of the steep hill. read more

Our first time apple picking. They open at 10 am and you are going to want to get there early. By 11:30 am there was a line in the street to try and get in. No parking left. They have 3 porta potties with sinks and soap and water. Hand sanitizer in different area's available You get in line and they provide plastic bags and they tell you which apples are available and how they taste Please be aware: the orchard is on a steep hillside so strollers and small children can be a struggle. They have a swing in a tree and some benches in different areas It is a lot of fun to walk around and pick your apples Today they had gala and Fuji available When you are finished you wait in line to pay. They weigh the apples for you. They also have some Brussel sprouts and apples in the store. We bought some apple juice as well Everyone was very friendly and all employees are wearing masks. My boyfriend and I came to do some apple picking in October. Clearview orchard was easy to get to and parking was easy as well with ushers showing you where to park. Parking lot was right next to the orchard so you don't need to walk far. They have port a potties for customer use. There were tons of apples to pick, there just weren't many varieties as we came in the later autumn season. The orchard is pretty big and you do have to go down a little and going back up is a little steep but I saw a ton of kids running up and down, just be mindful for those that may be a little older. Great fun activity, but keep in mind the apple prices per pound are definitely more expensive than normal and it's easy to pick so many! We even had a few bites in the orchard to see which our favorite apples were. We ended up picking a ton of mutsu apples which were amazing in an apple crumble later that day! read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2019 We went on a lark to Clearview Orchards the last weekend before Halloween. Thanks to a simple Yelp search we found this spot. My husband, six year old son and I were in search of pumpkins. Upon arrival we found the parking lot easy to navigate. While we were walking up to the big red barn we asked the gentleman that worked there if he could take a picture of our family. He kindly obliged and then told us a little bit about the farm. Turns out it was the owner Mel! Inside the barn there were a large variety of fresh apples that were picked from there farm. They also had organic brussels sprouts on the stalk and off for sale. They had jars of local honey and apple hand pies for sale. Just on the other side of the barn there was a small pumpkin patch, a little play area and a table that clearly was marked reserved for employees only. We searched and found the perfect pumpkin, took photos, then proceeded to the red barn to set our pumpkin down, grab a cloth bag and head out for some apple picking. There is a steep and paved path to the apple orchard. We picked some apples and headed back to pay. We bought one pumpkin, some apples and one apple hand pie. The daughter of the owners Carol and Mel helped us. We hand excellent customer service and it was a fun outing. The apple hand pie was so delicious we wished we bought more than one. Upon arriving at home we had the apples we picked and they were truly the sweetest we've tasted to date. Unfortunately, they are now closed for the season. Came here for the first time with my little and had an absolute blast! It is a bit steep climbing around so wear comfy shoes. When we walked in there was a lovely lady who directed us to which apple trees would be best for us to pick through. There were even different tire swings for the kiddos to swing and take a break. The market offers additional produce, even more apples, lavender, apple freeze pops and fresh apple cider!! To top off our great time there was a sweet young lady painting faces and my little was thrilled to get stars all Over her face. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to come back. What a great place for fun with your family and/or friends. Who knew apple picking would be so fun! We arrived just they opened and still early so that it wasn't very hot. Near the entrance you grab a canvas sack and the your are directed toward the rows and rows of apples trees for the picking, up and down hills. The trees aren't really tall and your can simply reach up and pick, depending on height--but definitely no ladders. Fruit varieties vary--on our particular visit only Fuji, Honeycrisp & Gala were available. In the little shop you could buy picked more varieties, Jonagold, Mutsu, Fuji & Gala. Also available for purchase were homemade apple butters. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really had a great time apple picking. read more

This is a great place to come spend the day. Walk around, find your favorite apple varieties, and pick to your hearts content. When I went at the beginning of October, there was an incredible amount of apples on every tree. I picked a ton of my favorite Fuji apples, and discovered a new variety (Mutsu) that I love! All the apples are also super flavorful - nothing like the giant watery apples you find at the grocery store. YUM! They have a kids area as well, and a pumpkin patch for taking cute photos. We had never been to a "You Pick" Apple Orchard. We had no idea what to expect. We will probably go back next year. As we drove through the front gate we were directed to a parking space by two young people. We learned later that they are Mel's grandchildren. Mel greeted us and handed us canvas bags will the "warning" that the bags could hold up to twenty pounds of apples. Now the fun really began. Mel had told us there there were lots of nice apples deep inside the trees. He was not wrong. We could see the apples; but, once in the tree you could not find them. We worked out a system where one of us would stand outside the tree and the other one inside the tree. Once inside the person outside would direct the inside person to the apples. We got to laughing so hard that we probably knocked more apples off the tree than we collected. And, of course, there was lots of crawling around on the ground retrieving apples. Oh, the Apple Turnovers were delicious; but, I want to play with my own recipe for them. The next few days will be spent experimenting making Apple Pies and Pastries. read more

This place is SO cute! Went with a bunch of friends, which is what I recommend since it costs $7/car to park. But after parking, there's a cute little garden area that you walk through before going through the gate where a nice man handed us some plastic bags and gave us some info on how to start picking apples, as well as some tips for picking. There were so many apples and so many trees to choose from! The different groups of trees were labelled. There was also a beautiful patch of wildflowers and sunflowers in view. Everything was so pretty that day, even though it was drizzling. They also had other items for sale where you checked out after you've had your fill of apple picking! We picked up some apple cider, some apple turnovers, some flowers, and apple butter! Everything was wonderful and I can't wait to go back! Bought tickets a month in advance for u-pick apple picking. I believe it was $5 to park, and since we went on a weekend; I was glad they limit the amount of people on the property at one time. I think the best part of this place was the spinning ride- around bicycles on a track that the kids ran to straight out of the car (not pictured here). The kids spent a good half riding around and had the best time! The only reason I docked a star was because the grounds are super hilly! There was a very scary moment where my almost 3 year old son could have fallen down a large slope into a huge ditch... So if you have littles I would be VERY vigilant. But it made it a bit more stressful trying to get up the hills to pick as well. I wish they had signs or made a special point to mention beforehand. On the flipside, the hills made for the most beautiful orchard scenery I have ever seen. We were there on the very last day of the apple season, and it was a challenge to find apples. Luckily, we were able to purchase some in the store. They also had delicious strawberries and apple turnovers, so I didn't even attempt to make the apple pie I had planned on later. read more

Small little orchard that is well organized and has covid 19 precautions. Parking lot is directed by an attendant to let you know where to park. It is a pretty quick process so even if you see a line don't worry. No orchard entry fee. They had you a plastic bag and off you go to pick apples. Signs listing which types of apples you are picking and there is an apple washing station for you to wash your apples to taste. Great time and they accept credit cards and sell other delicious items. Expect a line of cars on the main road, but the wait took about 20 minutes before we queued into the parking lot. You will be directed by an attendant on where to park. Get there early, when we arrived, the Honeycrisp apples are gone the first week of apple season. We settled for Fuji apples instead. Don't get dressed up as if you're going wine tasting. You will walk through dirt and your sneakers will get dirty. COVID-19 Rules: - Wear a mask - There's hand sanitizer available - You will take get a bag to use for what you pick. - This is a fairly large orchard, you can social distance from other people. After a number of years and a change from our usual spot. We tried Clearview Orchards. We liked the grounds, seems that they have more Fuji than anything. All were tasty. What turned us off from this place was just the constant yelling and screaming and constant noise from kids and parents. Gone are the days of serenity and peace where kits were taught to respect others, the grounds, the trees and the integrity of acting civil, kicking apples down the hill where people were constantly dodging fallout... This place was a zoo, like school recess, and a bath of culture we were not ready for or willing to return. read more

This was a fun family outing! We came for upick apples, making a reservation for parking for $5 online ahead. The apples were $2.50/lb, whether you picked them on the tree or grabbed them within the store (and Matsu and Honeycrisp were only available in the store). My kids loved the bike toy, pumpkins, and benches all around. For the apple picking, they loved running in the orchard, less interest in actual apple picking. The orchard was hilly as others mentioned, but manageable even for my 1.5 yr old. There was lots of grass so it wasn't muddy. They also enjoyed the apple bread ($4) and apple turnovers ($5). I would have liked more signage to know which trees were which and it really varied if trees had good apples or not (Oct 2). But, we still got to pick a few from the trees and just enjoyed the venue overall, so a fun day albeit less focus on apple picking. We also purchased honey ($10), brussel sprouts on the stalk ($5), and a sugar pie pumpkin ($1/lb). All prices were reasonable. read more

First time I've ever tasted this before and for a good price of $1.50. Nice little pumpkin patch on top for people to take pictures at with a small playground. This was the first year I visited Clearview Orchards for apple picking. In past years, I'd been going to Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville and I'll never go back there! Love that this place requires reservations which prevents overcrowding. The orchard is huge and there are so many trees and apples. I picked almost 20 pounds of apples, all shockingly delicious and juicy! Nothing like the dry apples sold at grocery stores or even some other apple orchards. The sweet, elderly man (owner?) informed us that the Fuji apples were in season. The apples are a bit hard to identify since the signs don't always seem to match the type of apple but I was able to manage. I got mostly pink lady apples and some fuji. I believe it was $2.75 per pound. They provide plastic bags (big and small) but you're welcome to bring your own bags or baskets. It's pretty hilly where the apple trees are and it can get muddy when its raining, foggy, or cold out like when I went. My sneakers got super muddy after I went. Unlike Gizdich, Clearview apples are organic (aside from the fertilizers they use), bigger, and about the same price per pound. That being said, I found a few apples that had some tiny worms on them which really isn't a big deal. The worms are usually just on top of the apple or you can tell if the apple has been eaten by the holes. They have bug traps on some of the trees. I'll be honest, I've never been a huge fan of apples until I tried Clearview apples. Normally I only bake pies with them but I was actually able to enjoy them as is just because they were so juicy! I made some rose apple tarts (NY Times recipe) and used only half the sugar called for but it was still sweet from the natural sugars in the apples. read more

COVID rules: The entry line is marked with 6 feet markers on the ground. The signs tell you to wear a mask. They have hand sanitizer at the counters, plexiglass and a sink wash station. The activity, apple picking is outdoors, so there is plenty of space to easily social distance. 3 port-a-potties are available. We arrived before 10:30 a.m. There is a parking person to point out open spots when you pull in. Today is suppose to be 110 degrees, and it was already nearing 100 degrees. A lot of people had the same idea, to show up early. The land is sloped, so it may not be easy for strollers. There's a sign saying trained service animals only. I didn't see any pets. There were a few tables outside and some benches on the other side of the registers. They are friendly. They explained which apples they had and answered our questions about which is tart, for baking or for jam. They have bags that are weighed when you return. It was $2.50 per pound and organic. They had 5 kinds of apples ready today. They also have a little bit of produce, honey and lavender for sale. There was also water and apple cider/juice for sale. In the orchard, the apples are labeled at the end of the row. Apples not ready yet had caution tape around them. There were lots of people there, but it was spacious and there were plenty of apples. Carol also made some divine lavender soaps that smell amazing and it is infused with honey and dried lavender that's from the orchard!! We are not disappointed with all the varieties that's already waiting for us - Jonagold, honey-crisp, Fuji, gala and cameo- each of them flavorful, sweet and just show how much care went into them to create such perfection. First off, don't freak out when you see the line of cars waiting to get in ! They told us we had an hour wait, but it only took 20 min and it was well worth it! The family loved it here! You better hurry cause the season is ended soon though. First let me start by saying the apples are organic! A huge plus for our family. There is a wide variety of apples to pick that taste amazing. My kids along with the adults really enjoyed being here. Of course with COVID, you have to wear a mask but that's for safety reasons which I get. Came for U-pick apples. They charged $5 for parking; however, as of October 3, nothing left on the trees, only rotten and bad ones. The good ones are available pre-picked to buy in their store, which is not what I came for. Not good for small kids or elderly, the orchard is on the hill. There are a lot of ups and downs path which isn't easily accessible. But if you are physically healthy, there will be no problem. Staff are friendly but we are really disappointed for the quality of apples for u-pick. read more

Went apple picking here on Saturday with the BF. I knew it was later in the season (since most apple varietals are September bloomers), but Fujis are my favorite, so I was OK with that being the only one still available for picking. While there were quite a few people there, it still felt super secluded and we were able to get great pics without any crowds or people in the background. We picked 11 pounds of apples (I be in the kitchen cookin pies with my baby, yeeeaaahhh!) and had a blast! Afterwords, we went and saw the turtle (not sure why there is a random turtle onsite, but he seems happy af), and then took a little rock in the swinging chair whilst munching on some apple juice popsicles - they make them fresh there. They also sell delicious honey, soap and lavender. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to go apple picking. Also, it's the only one I found that is open through October 30th! read more

This is our first time here and Clearview has really blown us away!!! We brought our two toddlers and it's toward the end of September, but they still had wonderfully sweet and juicy apples! The grounds are stunning! It's as beautiful as a well-maintained vineyard. Expect rows and rows on apple trees growing on a hill (wear good shoes as the ground is sloped while you crouch down to pick the yummy gems). The whole Orchard has this fragrant aroma of fresh apples and lavender. They have ample picnic tables and swing benches/chair/see-saws for the little ones. No outside food, but come to anticipate tasty apple turnovers, organic apple juice & butter, honey, and even apple Popsicles!!! Super family-friendly. The people who work there are very welcoming and kind.
