Super cute Cochin chick
J B.

I purchased some chicks from Laura and was very impressed. Her birds are absolutely beautiful and friendly. One of the Cochin chicks I bought jumped right into my lap & made herself comfortable as soon as we got home. I mean, c'mon! So cute. Laura was very professional and knowledgeable. She has a great set up and really cares about her flock. Thanks Laura!

I purchased 6 chicks almost 4 months ago from Four Acorns Farm. I was referred to Laura by a friend and was very pleased with the whole experience. Laura runs a fantastic operation and takes great pride in her work. I love my ladies!

I went to Four Acorns Farm today to purchase chicks, and Laura was amazing! We got a variety of chicks, and all were beautiful. We were able to get Cuckoo Marans, Buff Laced Polish, Delaware, Ameraucanas, and Lavender Orpingtons. All were healthy and vaccinated for Mareks. Laura does a great job and she is extremely helpful and experienced. Great place to purchase, I highly recommend!

Great place to buy chickens! This is our second time buying from Laura and we couldn't be more pleased. She is very professional and informative and has such a great variety of chicks. Our hens grew up to be so healthy and beautiful. Thanks Laura!

Truly amazing! I was very nervous to start my flock. I was looking to find some chicks that would not only produce some eggs for us but also be a part of our little family. Laura provided us with the most beautiful chicks, but our incredible experience didn't end there. Laura took time to share her invaluable knowledge. We were gifted great tips on how to care for our chicks, tips on future care for our chickens, and info about breeds. We could not have asked for a better place to get started. Thank you so much, Laura!

I recently got some beautiful giant Cochin chicks from Four Acorns Farm. While picking them up I got a tour of the beautiful property and chicken coops. All the chickens were very well cared and very clean. Laura was knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. So happy with these babies and looking forward to purchasing more chicks in the future!

Definitely my go to person from now on. She has hard to find breeds and she also has a beautiful flock. She is very knowledgeable and teaches classes too! We went on a rainy day with my crazy littles and she was great with them. I highly recommend her if you're thinking of starting up a flock or expanding it.

Bought 7 eggs from Laura and all hatched! Beautiful chicks. This was my first time hatching and was surprised we had a 100% hatch rate!

Ask the Community - Four Acorns Farm

Do you sell just eggs too or only chickens?

In addition to selling chicks and started chickens, I sell fertile hatching eggs.

Hi Four Acorns Farm, Do you accept roosters? My girls have hatched too many boys than they can handle🤗…

Hello Jeanette! Unfortunately, I'm not equipped to take in extra birds. I also practice strict bio security, so I very rarely bring outside birds in.… Read more

No, this is mainly for the street foodie enthusiast, for those into the quickest possible route to $4 slabs of masa packed with an earthy rich mole, chicken, and oaxacan cheese, steaming styrofoam cups of champurado, fresh crispy churros that my fiancee intuitively, aggressively chomps like a pittbull eating strips of bacon, that sort of thing. You come here to binge out on huaraches, sopes, and down horchata like you have no other task in life. You get stuffed here and post up in the old school Ville, only leaving after feeling immensely satisfied, and less impoverished than if you went to a sit-down place pretty much anywhere. I can't help but feeling a couple of these little ladies slanging tamales and empanadas have to be some of the best cooks in Santa Cruz county. More than 4 gringoes max last week sighted in the crowd last time we were there. Bound to blow up. Damn it, another of my favorites out in the interest of the yelper nation.

Site doesn't offer any bug spray, but maybe should? As far as Covid safety, only thing is a reservation system which limits attendees. About 8-9 rows so plenty of space to spread out, but it's self regulated. Some parents corral their Children and others don't so you're at mercy of others, or have to speak up. We also got chased down rows by an oblivious sneezing and coughing man who prob had allergies and wore a mask... No one from farm is monitoring people once in. No questions or temp checks for admittance, though email prob asks that you mind it. Also: expensive! Expect to pay about $20-25/gallon baggie, which holds about 3-4 pounds. Blueberries are delish. When Two Small Farms reorganized, I stuck with my usual pickup spot, which went to High Ground Organics. I was a little nervous. I'd been getting Mariquita Mystery Boxes all winter, so I knew that I liked what Mariquita alone produces. But what about High Ground? My worries were for nothing. The produce is as high quality and varied as I could have hoped.

(Ryan Reynolds voiceover)…read more The vibe is pure Americana apple orchard in Watsonville! Clearview Orchards is a fabulous family destination! Andrea warmly greeted us! She is so nice! We were guided to the large parking lot! Mr. Mel Larussa, the proprietor himself, gave us a quick orientation and gave us directions to have the greatest apple picking time of our lives! Mrs. Larussa went out of her way and provided fresh cut samples of the Honeycrisp! Wow! Delish, sweet, firm. Like my fave IG models. Gonna leave with a bunch of Fujis and Pink Ladies! Had to nab several jars of the fantastic Sage clear honey! Nectar of the gods! Thank God for the birds and the bees! And before headed out we had a mini picnic on the veranda with picturesque views of the Clearview orchard! The apple bread was divine! But the apple juice and frozen popsicle apple juice was the absolute best! Apple juice as God intended! Delectably sweet and refreshing! (So good that busloads of Stanford students have blocked the road before! So make an appointment and reserve a time!) What a great time! But one of the best parts is just hearing the laughter of families and children enjoying America! Gonna make some apple pie tonight! Thanks Mr. And Mrs. Larussa and Andrea! Will be back! Woohoo!

The Good: *All the trees planted on site are dwarfs to make life easier on everyone, especially kids. *Certified organic farm *Play area for young kids *Staff were all friendly and very helpful *Accept CCs to purchase *Reasonable pricing *Baked goods (e.g., apple turnovers, apple bread), lavender products, and fresh-pressed Apple Juice available for purchase. *They'll provide you with bags to collect your harvest, but you are also welcome to use your own reusable grocery bags. The Meh: *Wasn't a fan of their "Apple Butter," as it was more applesauce than apple butter. But, with that said, it was a fine applesauce fwiw. *Make sure you bring a cooler with ice if you plan to buy juice unless you're going straight home. I forgot to bring ours like a dummy. :( *No pet policy, so leave Fido at home. *Weekends only. Check their IG (@clearvieworchards) for updates. The Ugly: *Make sure you purchase a parking ticket/reservation ($7) ahead of time, or you'll be SoL. This started during Covid, and they're continuing it due to helping them control the number of visitors. TLDR: Fun family-friendly activity to do on the weekend and teach kids where their food comes from. Highly recommended.
