Omg had the best strawberries from them at Whole Foods today. They had a sale $3.50 for 1 pound, and they definitely tasted fresh from a farm. I've eaten all organic brands but these were so sweet, not mushy, and even when not as ripe had a defining sweet taste and leaves my mouth watering. Tomatero is a super wonderful organic farm stand, period. Their products are yummy, the workers are very nice, and the prices are quite low.

Tomatero Organic Farms is hands down one of my favorite vendors at the San Rafael Farmer's Market. There is a reason why this vendor always has such a long line. The produce is fresh, everything is organic, there is always a great selection, and the prices are very reasonable. During COVID, we've been ordering their curbside pickup farm boxes which have been wonderful. It's been amazing getting fresh, local produce, and trying some new veggies we typically don't cook with. If you'd rather select your own veggies, the booth is still open at the Farmer's Market and they have plenty of 6 ft. marks for the wait. #106/2016 There are a few "must stop" vendors I go to every trip to the Alemany Farmers' market and Tomatero Farms is at the top of the list. All certified organic produce, you can buy mix/match bunches of kale (at least 2 different kinds), sweet basil, Swiss chard, romaine $2 each or (3) for $5. Spring brings amazing fava beans (I shucked pounds and froze them), summer it's strawberries (truly the best I've ever had), leeks, lemon cucumbers, summer squash, tomatoes galore and always cilantro (Get there early for cilantro, it sells out before 10:30 most Saturdays). They have varieties of produce that other vendors don't carry like sweet Momotaro tomatoes. Yes, you can find their produce at Rainbow but when you come here to the farmers' market it's like a treasure hunt - plus it's less expensive buying direct. Tomatero's always generous sampling strawberries (my little boy nabs the biggest one he can) so come take a look. I really love this stand. read more

They have excellent produce and the most reasonably priced at the 24th St Noe Valley Farmers Market in San Francisco. Many of us in the neighborhood depend on the NV market as an alternative to Amazon/Whole Foods one block away. I go every week to the market but Tomatero's attendance there is pretty spotty. Today is the second week in a row we've been told they do not have enough to sell at our market but that they are at the Alemany market (not practical to take 2 busses there or drive when then NV market and WF is around the block). The alternative at the NV market are 2 vendors who charge quite a bit more and prices are generally for organic produce at Whole Foods (but not as fresh). We were told in September 2 weeks in a row they were at Burning Man. ???? read more

Their produce is amazing! I love the quality and I also have a fav team at the CSM Farmer's Market that I appreciate (currently hasn't been here)--they always help me pick out the best items. Minus one star bc the customer service has gone down in the last few months. There would be a few people in the back, almost ignoring our line that's not moving... Shopping at the Sunnyvale Farmers' Market during COVID is not so daunting when precautions are put in place. Everyone is 6 ft apart in line and I like that the workers are the ones selecting and showing you the produce you are getting, rather than multiple people touching the produce and picking it out for themselves. Their cauliflowers are usually quite large, broccolini, kale, herbs, etc. very fresh. read more

I received a container of Tomatero organic strawberries in my Farm Fresh Box last week. I can't believe how delicious these strawberries taste! So many times you buy strawberries in the grocery store, yet they have absolutely no flavor. They might look flawless, but they taste like nothing. Just like that gorgeous human being who you try to get to know, yet you find there's absolutely no substance. Not the case here! The strawberries look nice enough, but it's the delicious sweet flavor that really caught my attention. Savoring the taste, it brought me back to when my sister & I used to pick wild strawberries. I think Tomatero is the only vendor that regularly carries dandelion greens. In summer, their tomatoes are incredible - so many varieties! Farmers markets are special places because the people that work there are usually there because they want to be. The people at Tomatero appear to love being there. I go to the market on Sundays in San Rafael. If I have an odd Thursday off, I'll go to that market as well. Tomatero is usually the first and last stand I'll visit. Their energy is contagious. They give advice, point out what's the best of the best, and are honest when they don't have what you're looking for. And, their food is outrageously good. During the summer and early autumn, this is my go to place for their delicious tomatoes. But they have so much more! In fact, I'd argue that if I only had one stand to go to each week, it'd be Tomatero with no question. There's so much variety and the prices are tremendously reasonable for what you're having the pleasure of buying. I love buying from people who are proud of their food. Not sure why other farmer aren't taking their cues from Tomatero. They're obviously doing something very right. Do they have a CSA? Now, that'd be great! read more

Worth the price for eggs that you know are coming from happy chickens. Free-range, Cage-free labeling on supermarket eggs do not mean what you think they mean! educate yourself and support local farmers who SHOW you their chickens and how they are treated. The Chickens at Tomatero are free to roam like they should and their beaks and claws are not removed like most egg laying chickens from factory farms! LOVE YOU GUYS read more

I love their super fresh eggs, if you can find them at one of the local farmers' markets and they haven't run out. The yolks, when cooked, are a sensational bright yellow. Only recently did i start trying to make poached eggs at home (cuz mama never taught me how...you know those poached egg secrets... shhh...like adding a bit of vinegar to the water and turning the water temperature down slightly as the water nears a boil and then, voila, carefully add the Tomatero egg.) It's like magic, these eggs are so fresh, the egg white softly curls around the yolk (better than any others I've tried) and after about 4 minutes, the perfect poached egg! Be warned, all of you who aren't willing to pay a fair price for very fresh local organic products, these eggs aren't cheap. read more

Any educated person knows that it is important to find a good quality local farm and purchase groceries from them rather than chain grocery stores. I have been aware of this and have included healthy food in my lifestyle for many years. I was surprised to find this gem of a produce stand at the farmer's market a few months ago. Their produce had much better color and a more robust flavor than any of the other stands. On top of this, they were selling free-range organic eggs as well! I have never tasted a better egg! After realizing I had stumbled upon something special, and having received memorable and enlightening service at the stand, I decided to take a trip to the farm to get to know the owners and see what it was about them that made them so much better than the rest. When I arrived I was greeted with the friendly sight of the couple who owns this farm playing with their dogs and tossing ball with some friends and a couple of the workers. It was such an attractive environment in contrast with the grueling scene one finds upon entering a factory farm. I quickly realized why their produce tasted so good. This farm is in possession of fecund fields that are clearly teeming with nutrients. The soil looked so healthy and well kept, and the brightly colored burgeoning produce testified to that fact. Not only were the grounds clean, but they were spacious enough to let the chickens move about, spread their wings, and freely interact with one another in the open light. The staff was well-informed about the nature of raising the hormone-free chicken and answered all my questions with inspiring enthusiasm! I would highly recommend that anyone interested in developing their awareness of their local farm community visit one of Tomatero's stands and sample the reward of compassionate, wholesome, global-minded farm methods. Visit the farm and see first hand where your food comes from. The love you receive will make the food taste that much better! read more

As the other Yelpers have (mostly) written about, the eggs and produce were top notch. Just seriously tasty, and I don't even have a very refined palette. But what I also loved was the whole disposition of the TOF gang. Obviously the people who work at farmers' markets wanna be there, but I felt this was doubly true for Tomatero. Tomatero Organic Farm is one of the couple of stands we consistently make sure to buy produce from at the weekly Saturday Sunnyvale Farmer's market on Murphy St. We usually go for the 3 for $5 mix and match option between their different varieties of kale and swiss chard. From time to time, we'll get their organic lettuce when we're in a salad making mood. They always seem to have at least a couple staff on hand and are very helpful and welcoming. read more

That's the reason you go to the farmer's market right? To buy good food? At Tomatero, it's always a mob scene, because everybody knows that there, they will find the freshest, tastiest, and best variety of produce. And it's pretty much the same price as that wilted-ass "organic" bok choy you're gonna get from that other stand. One of my absolute favorite farms! I get their produce at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market, where thankfully the guys and gals manning the stand are generally pretty nice and friendly. Their strawberries are soooo delicious, particularly the Albion and Sweet Anne varieties. Equally fantastic are their dry farmed tomatoes in the summertime. I can eat pounds of their super sweet, absolutely perfect tomatoes! They are so good and sweet I often just eat them like any other fruit. Their kale is also good. read more
