I recently had my first experience at Clean Your Dirty Face with a free facial thanks to an influencer promo on Instagram. But they usually offer 50% off of for their first time customers. My facial was done by Anna who was really kind and helpful when it came to my skin concerns. She took a look at my face and suggested a facial that would be best for me. Anna was able to answer any questions I had about my skin, but didn't go too in-depth. She was really gentle and made sure I was comfortable (the steam wasn't too hot, the masks weren't causing tingling feeling, etc.). The space is pretty open, about 3-4 seats next to each other with pop music playing in the background. Definitely not a quiet, peaceful setting, but I wasn't looking for that for this visit. You're in and out within 30 minutes with a fresh and hydrated face. Would definitely come back if I'm looking for a quick facial. read more

I found CYDF through Class Pass and booked a 60 min facial after work. LaShawn was thorough, lovely, and made me feel very comfortable. We briefly discussed my skin concerns before she began, and the facial itself was really great--I left feeling dewy and hydrated. The reason for the lower rating is everything surrounding the service. At checkout, the front desk rang up the facial as $270 so I could tip on the full amount. All of their marketing and promotional materials show prices well under $100, so I'm still not sure how the total reached $270 (even if they had combined multiple services). I booked through ClassPass and didn't pay any of that amount myself, but I still had to tip based on $270. I am fully supportive of tipping on the full value of a service--I just wasn't prepared for that number and wasn't planning to tip $50 on top of the ClassPass points. It felt like the "value" was being presented as the cash price, which came across as unclear and a little yucky. The front desk person also couldn't explain the pricing very well. No one walked me through the products that were used, what they do, or that different sizes were available for purchase. I would have genuinely appreciated that information. Because this was the last appointment on a Friday, a few of the staff were talking loudly about their evening plans (sushi) over the music, which made it hard to relax. Someone also started mopping the floor while I was still getting my facial, so walking out felt a bit treacherous. I want to preface this by saying this was my mistake. I absolutely let myself get upsold and should have stopped it in the moment. I visited the Clean Your Dirty Face location in River North. I was familiar with their business model before going, but my first mistake was trusting a TikTok influencer who claimed they go there monthly. That may or may not be true, but given influencer budgets and endless options, I'm skeptical now. The experience felt like an "easy-bake oven" version of a facial. While it's marketed as a quick, trendy facial bar, it ended up being very expensive for what you get, not relaxing, and overall pretty gimmicky. I added a "tech neck massage" and an oxygen facial, which drove up the cost. The massage was 3 minutes AND was part of my 30 minute service, it did not extend it despite it being an additional $15 for each add on. I had heard about their $35 first facial promo using the code "virgin," which in hindsight should've been my first red flag. Real original first time user promo code, I hate the try-hard edginess of it all. During the appointment, the upselling was constant. Products, memberships, add-ons, it never really stopped. And again, this is on me. I did cave and ended up purchasing both a membership and a product. Very loud music + overdone neon signs. I didn't find it enjoyable or worth the cost. I ended up spending around $200 after add-ons and products, some of which I didn't even receive and had to call about later to get refunded. Overall, felt more like a rushed retail transaction than a spa service. The open-concept layout offers no privacy, and the space itself felt worn and not particularly clean. Chicago winters are messy, but the salt and slush made the floors look dull and chalky, and the chaise lounges were visibly worn with exposed inner material. That said, I can see how this model might appeal to a different audience. For example, I think it could actually be a fun option for a tween birthday party. The quick service, energetic atmosphere, and shorter treatments might suit that demographic well. I don't mean that negatively. Overall, not a bad service, just very gimmicky for 30 year olds and not worth the price point. read more

This is a fine place for a quick facial but I wouldn't regularly visit as part of a skincare routine. The 30 minutes are quick and, through a 50% of intro offer, pretty cheap. There was a significant amount of upsell at my appointment and I didn't feel that my skin was any better off afterwards. I enjoyed being pampered for 30 minutes but that's about it. The facial is also in an open room with several chairs. This didn't bother me but it's something to be aware of if you value privacy. read more

Feels like a bit of a scam - probably the basic 30 min facial could be worth it but I doubt anyone else. I booked this through class pass, booked the one with the Virgin package, which was around $90 worth of credits, could have also booked the basic which was about $40 of credits. The facial was 30 minutes, the same amount of time as the basic, and I guess the difference was a two minute peel and an extraction with some machine which is insane for the price difference. At the end they had the nerve to ask for $32!!! Tip for 30 minutes of service. I don't live in Chicago but I'm sure you can get a way better facial in Chinatown for a cheaper price. The biz was not difficult to recognize at all, as their hot pink/neon yellow sign immediately catches your eye and calls you in! When it was time for my appointment, I went inside and was greeted by legit IG aesthetics and the sweetest woman at the front desk! After being given a colorful menu of services that nicely laid out all of the awesome add-ons that were available to perk up your facial just a bit more. I ended up going with the extractions and Pumpkin Peel, and WOW! I received my facial from the most wonderful Esthetician and I'm SO upset with myself for waiting too long to write a review because I can't remember her name and she was absolutely wonderful. Recently came here for my first ever facial and it was amazing! I scheduled my appointment online after seeing a TikTok about their first facial special of $25 (normal $50). The original price is more affordable price than others I've seen. It is a 30 min express facial but it felt so good and the results were definitely noticeable. The receptionist had me fill out a form asking a few questions- make sure you don't use treatments such as retinol or Accutane I think up to 48 hours before coming here. Basically anything that would make your skin more sensitive to a facial. Jenny was the esthetician who worked with me. She first looked over my form then assessed my face. I was so happy she said my skin looked glowy and felt nice *cries* (I research A LOT of skin care items but just have to be more consistent). We talked about my routine and skin concerns and decided the Detox facial would be best for me. I also added the Extractions and Manual Microdermabrasion for $10 each. The whole process was relaxing, informative, and professional. You're able to take your mask off only during the facial but the esthetician wears a mask and face shield. My favorite parts were the extra time she took explaining each product and massaging it into my face. Using her hands and the Ice Queens on my pressure points really hit the spot. The person who did my facial literally had the worst-smelling breath, which is tough when this person is above you and breathing on your face the entire time. Years ago, CYDF RN was fairly relaxing and a nice little self-care treat. Now, at the new location, it's just crazy and loud and overpriced. They also do not have a telephone... so If you're running late, or would like to speak with someone, you literally cannot. It's all done by email. I suppose the loud atmosphere may cater to younger people who like their ear talked off and loud music blasting, but it's not the vibe I look for when paying full price for a facial, and I hate the up-charges and constant push to buy their products. Getting a facial is convenient and accessible because of CYDF. I used to go to pricey hotels and book nearly the whole day for a spa treatment just to get a decent facial. While fancy spa treatments are nice and relaxing, sometimes I don't have all day nor the budget for those services. And, CYDF is great for those not interested in self-care but know they should be. I had a good experience on my first visit with Hannah. However, there were two drawbacks that I noticed during my visit. Even though I arrived on time I had to wait. I mentioned CYDF accommodates busy people, meaning only 30 minutes for a facial. But they book appointments back-to-back in 30 minute increments leaving no time for chance or error. The atmosphere seemed rushed and hurried. When the estheticians were finished with their appointment they, too, were in a hurried state. They were rushing to explain some of the products they used on the customer during the treatment and tried to quickly explain any questions the customer might've had. All of this might've been eliminated if CYDF would've allowed at the very least a 5 minute cushion in-between appointments--e.g. book appointments at 1:35 instead of 1:30. Since most of their customers are female, they failed to take into account that women tend to talk a lot depending on their day/mood, which can cause an appointment to go long. And if you are a busy person like me trying to fit 30 minutes in for self-care and have to wait---it can be annoying, especially when you made a good effort to arrive on time. The esthetician who did my appointment was good and efficient but I noticed she was also trying to make up for the time. Of course they apologized, etc., but that doesn't give me my time back, right? They second drawback is, I'd like to see more transparency on the source of their product ingredients. The product packaging makes no mention of the products origin, ala Made in China or Made in USA from imported ingredients. So while I found their products used during the treatment to be of quality, I would've appreciated more transparency on the origin. If you have a friend who needs self-care but just doesn't understand the importance of it, CYDF is the perfect "starter" place to get them moving in that direction--a gift certificate would be great. Also, we are seeing more of the effects of climate change, but the earth's change in temperature is also affecting our skin. Stronger sun rays on our skin cause more damage, so I feel I am doing something to help protect my skin when I got to CYDF for a facial. read more

This place is pretty unconventional for facials. You walk in, and there are bright colors and loud music playing. You are taken back into a room with two other people with no privacy. Before going back for the facial, you fill out a form that went over my skin care routine and skin type. Overall the place is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly. Within five minutes of me arriving, I was taken back into the open facial room. My aesthetician, Stephanie, was really nice and not pushy with the "add-on's" or buying the product after the session. As for the 30 minute facial itself, it was quick but I felt like it didn't do much. My skin felt very oily after the facial but looked glowy and radiant. I'm not sure I would come back here any time soon... I had a good experience but I would rather get a medical grade facial such as microneedling done. There are no separate rooms, so you're laying next to 3 or 4 other people while receiving your facial which is kind of odd. There are only 3 different facial options to choose from & they're all very basic. Extractions and similar services cost extra $$. They also only use CYDF products which is not unusual but they will try to sell you on them after the facial and they are not cheap. Admittedly, I was a facial virgin prior to my appointment, and honestly would still consider myself as such. For a "$25" first facial, I booked an appointment. I say $25 in quotes because I was up sold to a $35 package (on top of the $25 I paid online to book the appointment) including all of their best sellers as soon as I walked in the door. All in all, I spent about $75, including tip, for this facial. When you break it down, it runs about the same pricing as a facial from other, more relaxing spas. This is a quick, 30 min facial, and they definitely run on time. My facial started at 1:53 and ended promptly at 2:15 (plus 5 minutes of trying to sell me products at the front), it definitely felt rushed but it's marketed as a quick facial so I knew what I was getting into there. The actual facial was fine, truly nothing special, but I really hate how it smelled like every single product has quite a bit of witch hazel. Personally, my skin does not work well with witch hazel, and I think it stinks pretty badly. The pumpkin peel was nice, so there's that. They do extractions with their fingernails, which seems odd to me, and left me with some minor pinpoint bruising afterward. However, the one thing I HATED was that the entire time the esthetician performing my facial kept telling me CeraVe washes are "too harsh" for my skin and I need to stop using them. Coming from someone who had terrible acne throughout my teenage years, I am a die-hard CeraVe fan, as recommended by every dermatologist I have ever seen. Slightly ironic considering the amount of witch hazel she put on my face... She was constantly trying to upsell me to the face wash, face oil, toner, etc and despite me voicing my contentment with my current regimen of products, the sales pitch didn't stop. Honestly, I don't see myself going back. The only things I enjoyed were part of the $35 upgrade package, so for the standard rate of $50 per facial (not first-timers), $50 (standard pricing) for the add-ons (pumpkin peel, extractions, and oxygen boost that I think make this a facial vs just washing your face) plus tip, coming to a grand total of about $120 for 30 mins. Standard facials elsewhere will run you anywhere from $150-$300 for an hour, with much better products and much less up selling. I'd rather be in a relaxing spa without constant sales pitches anyway. This was my first time going here, first time ever getting a facial actually. The check in process was simple, had a short questionnaire to determine skin type and needs etc and some stuff about their add ons. The way this place works is that there aren't any private rooms so you're getting your appointment right next to someone else in the same room. I didn't really care about the privacy factor but it is somewhat like hard to relax and focus on your treatment when the appointment next to you is having a loud conversation the whole time and there's loud music playing too. The treatments felt nice , although it burned a bit the pumpkin mask was great. I got the add on package just to try everything out. She talked me through everything on a base level but didn't take time to elaborate on most things and what to expect from them. For example in the package I got it came with extractions and I knew what it would entail at a very base level and I did put that I'd never had a facial before on the form and mentioned it verbally. The extraction was a bit painful (to be expected) but nobody really warned me of that or how red my face would be for the whole rest of the day or that the spots she extracted on my face would probably take up to a week to heal. After the facial there was no info given on what to expect after, aftercare etc. I had to google how long the extractions would take to heal and if I could do my same skincare routine without irritating my skin. And on top they didn't have any clean face masks for you so after getting this nice facial I just put my dirty mask back on my face which felt like it somewhat defeated the purpose of "cleaning my dirty face" . They have products you can purchase from the facial which I was interested in but the prices.. The price of one skin care product is more than their entire base rate for a facial. They're fairly small bottles too so it's a bit hard to justify that. I did enjoy getting a facial and despite a lot of the hiccups my skin is noticeably clearer/ brighter. If you don't get any ad ons it's pretty affordable so that's a plus. Although I did enjoy the facial I would rather spend more and go somewhere else for a better overall experience. read more

After about 2 weeks, they got back to me and sure enough the facial was completely free (plus gratuity and optional add ons) at any location of my choice. Not all of their locations offer facials, but I had been to this location for a facial already before through ClassPass so I knew think it'd be easy to walk with available parking if needed. I got the fresh facial and included the microdermabrasion $10 add on. I didn't realize manual microderm meant scrub lol so don't make the same mistake as me. I still looked glowy after though!! The facials are only 30 minutes so while a little short, it was perfect for me to get a quick refresh within my chaotic work schedule. Anna was super knowledgable and gentle with my skin. I didn't feel like she rushed or aggressively tried to upsell me at all. You are sitting next to other clients, which isn't a con for some, but if you want a zen undisturbed facial you'll be disappointed. I'll totally be back again. I was coming in to get a chemical peel ( something I get every 3 to 6 months for the last three years) I let them know at the front that's what I wanted she said ok she can make me an appointment for there I was there just before they went on lunch( unbeknownst to me) she found someone to accommodate I was appreciative because I was only trying them because I was wasting time before having to pick someone up! so I get to the back and wasn't the happiest wen I found out that it's a open room with other people getting facial in the same space ( red flag number one) I go to sit down and the young lady says she'll be doing my services and starts to look at my skin and ask what brings me in. I state I have breakouts on my chin and dark spots and I want to get rid of them and usually a chemical peel does the trick she says ok then looks at my skin again and says she recommends a different service thats is more then what I am wanting ( at least what I thought was more then what I was paying) so I simply say no I just want my peel I know they work and are effective! she says ok and the begins a facial ( I'm thinking that's odd) then she wipes my face once with what I assume is a peel wipe and cleanses my face with a white cloth or wipe then says you're done. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt so I went to the from to pay and that's when I realized if you don't do your research on this place you will come out paying more then necessary! the peel is priced at 70 but unbeknownst to me you have to purchase a facial as well! you would think being a new customer they would say that at the beginning! but hey so I explained I didnt know that's how this works so they comped the facial then I had to pay for a chemical that I didn't get! I waited a few days to see if my face would peel and nothing! I called today and the manager "Ariel" I believe was her name said well I comped you fa so I'm not sure what you want me to do and then says our chemical peel is only 20% so we recommend you come in every 2 weeks! I'm excuse me! that's insane I've paid 2-300 for a peel and never not once have I heard that it was safe to come back every two weeks! long story short do your research it's not worth the money and the service didn't even come with after Care products you have to pay separately for them and they are overly priced as well!! read more

It definitely is a quick facial, and I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you don't do any add-one's as you won't receive anything more then a cleanse, mask, serum and facial oil massage; however, Hannah gave a truly exceptional massage that felt amazing and made my skin look wonderful. Breast milk facial? Let's do this! Ok, so now that I've rocked a Gilt City deal and one year Black Card Membership, there's some pluses, but def some minuses. First, the facial is just half an hour, but gives you great results. I did have one person who gave me the hard sell, but I've dug every other aesthetician after that, and mainly see Jennifer and Mandy. They're great, always answer my questions on products, and their great convo makes time fly. Now on to the meh. The facials run $50, and add ons are $10 a pop. Also, they are crazy serious about wanting you to leave your shoes in the cubbies. Even after explaining that I watched two girls try to steal my purse after an AIR class and I was a bit paranoid, they still gave me shit for taking them off and keeping them next to me during the service. Also, I signed up for a full year of facials with their Black Card Membership, which promised "complimentary access to select workshops + other membership perks." I received neither. When I finally inquired about the workshops five months into my membership, I was told it was due to internal changes and they would start soon (that was way back in October, and it's now May). They also don't notify you if your aesthetician changes, you just find out when you get there. Oh, and they've taken a photo I posted on instagram of me getting the before mentioned breast milk facial, and have used it repeatedly on their instagram and facebook posts, without having the courtesy to ask or give me credit, which just weirds me out. Don't waste your money. I did the half off new client special which made the facial $25 which is a great deal... BUT - the facial lasted no more than 20 minutes. It was SO short. And that is after I added on $40 of extras. If you are paying that much for extras, you would think the service would last longer. The $20 mask was on my skin for like a minute. The $10 for neck and shoulder massage was two minutes of just someone lightly grazing their hands over my shoulders. Ok so here's the real. I had never had a facial before, but I workout at AIR so I have known about MudbuM for a while but have been honestly kind of nervous to try it out. It's been a week since my first facial and let me tell you, I'm a changed woman. Jackie explained everything to me and offered me much needed advice about my skin and how to make her happy again. My face is literally still glowing. Yes, I did the upgrades and did the extractions and the pumpkin peel but it was worth it. My skin is still clearing up and it's the brightest it's ever been. Wow. This place is so cute and everyone is so nice! My esthetician talked to me the entire time while doing my facial. She told me what she was doing and why she was doing it. She also made some light conversation as well. My skin looked so good afterwards. The only downsides are that they don't accept cash, don't have a phone number, and if you're late then your facial is shortened. read more

As a spa buff (though I can rarely afford it), I've been wanting to come to this place for a while. And after going, I have no desire to return. The receptionist seemed judgmental, which is too bad because hers was the first face we saw. The facials happen in a tiny room and you're in there with whomever else is getting a facial at the time. The music is loud and blasting right in your ear. They really push the $10 add-ons, and my facialist was trying to convince me that my nice high end face moisturizer was full of preservatives. Our conversation ended there. Then it took us about 15 min to get out of the place because the receptionist couldn't charge both my husband's and my transactions at the same time... It wasn't a relaxing experience and probably not worth the money, even if it is cheaper than a facial from a spa. My husband's face looked good at least--maybe he should go back. read more
