Her competency, knowledge, and approach of service was mind-blowing. This is hard to find in any customer service genre. Esther was attentive, honest, and altruistic in helping people of all stripes. You don't find help like this ANYWHERE in this day and age. And the laundry mat itself was spotless, spacey, and workable. The coin exchange, unlike others, was easy to understand and operable. I found this laundromat on Yelp because it's close to where we do our grocery shopping. Kill two birds with one stone, right? For some reason, the map shows it at the airport. It's actually at the corner of Dyer and 192. First of all, there's parking on the side of the building, but skip it and go to the lot in the back. Why? Because there's a big curb you have to jump over to get in those spots. I didn't even notice it until I ran over it. Just wasn't expecting it or to have to look for a curb. That's when I noticed everyone else parking in the back and walking. The place is clean and quiet (for a laundry). You can get change at the counter, so bringing cash is a good thing. Their machines seem to be older and here are all kinds of brands and sizes. Some seemed better than others. The ones we used were $2.00 a load and about the size of a home washer. They had extra large front loaders the the families were using. I believe those were between $4-$5 a load. Dryers were all 25 cents for 6 minutes. We dried our stuff a little and took it home to dry the rest of the way in our home dryer. Lots of carts to load your stuff into. And a number of folding tables. Each family was very respectful and didn't take over an area. It was super easy and we were in and out within an hour.

The place is clean and the washers/dryers all appear to be in working order. There is an attendant on site who was walking around sweeping. A coin machine makes change... and you'll need a LOT of coins. Which brings me to my next point... HOW DO PEOPLE AFFORD TO GO TO A LAUNDROMAT?!?! No offense but this place seems like it's in a lower income, primarily Spanish speaking community. Washers are $3.00, $4.00 and $7.00 depending on the size and dryers are .25/5 minutes. So for me to do only 4 days worth of clothes for a family of 5, we're already talking $10. And half of those were "washed" at the shitty hotel washer so add in another $4 if I needed to do 2 loads of wash here and now we're looking at $14. Yowza. At home we're doing laundry nearly daily... so yes, not sure how people afford a laundromat and this will be our only stop here.
