A while ago I had a terrible allergy crisis probably because I own two pets and there's a lot of carpet in my house, I mean a lot of carpet. Apparently my cleaning person was not doing such a good job and I have to say I always hated that smell of bleach in my bathroom. A friend recommended me them and over a very cool phone conversation I learned a lot about safe products to clean our home without causing any harm to our environment. I know it is such "bay area of me" like a friend said. Guess what? Okay. I hate to write a bad review for a cleaning service but I'm just trying to be honest. Sandra and her sister were both VERY nice and VERY sweet, but I think for the job that was done, it was extremely overpriced. I like the idea of the green products and they did a thorough job, and took the time at the end to point out everything that was done, but it was honestly just too expensive especially for the things that weren't done. And on top of it, they were about a half hour late (granted "in this line of business, you can never be prompt with time"). ??? All we needed cleaned was the kitchen, living room, bathroom and hallway. That's it. There were no bedrooms done, the stairs were not done, the office, or the laundry room. Just 4 rooms, if you want to call the hall a room. So with that being said, I would think it would only take about one to two hours for TWO people to do this. It took them THREE hours to do and then they charged us $130!!! Mind you, after they left, we noticed that the didn't even pick up the rug in the kitchen to clean the kitchen floor, they just cleaned AROUND it. The bag of garbage was left for us to take out and the fridge hadn't been touched. You could visibly see dust and hair up along the walls in the bathroom, as well as mascara on the mirror, that clearly had not been cleaned off. The rest of the house was great. They cleaned under the couch cushions and cleaned out the fireplace. And I always feel bad having someone clean my house, so I thank them for their service but I just think for $130, the kitchen rug should be picked up! I think that's kind of ridiculous. Three hours for 3.5 rooms. I just wonder if they had done the entire house, would they have charged us like $350?! Cause it would have taken them ALL day. It has been about 6 months since Sandra came to clean my place, so not sure if her ways have changed at all. I hate doing a bad review, but hopefully it will encourage her to be more competitive, blahahahhah I liked the idea of green chemicals, and our apartment is never clean to my standards, so it was my idea to get a pro to come do it. Backfire! $180 later, our apartment is definitely clean, but about $80 clean. None of the grease was taken off the stove, I lifted up just a little of our living room rug and there is all kinds of dirt, the stairs were obviously not mopped. She did an ok job, but an ok job on our apartment is what we always do. She needs to either charge a little less, or do a better job. read more

Lovin' it Green! I've always wanted a professional cleaner... especially having two cats and 3 jobs! When I heard of Sandra's company I was instantly engaged... clean it green? I've only had Sandra over twice so far, but she has done a stellar job. She dusts places I hadn't even thought of, always informs me about the products she's using or if she thinks a different one would work better, and is a friendly face to have in the house (I work from home, and was a little worried about having a stranger hanging out with me :-) Update: Sandra is not so great at putting things back exactly where they were, so if that's a problem for you, be sure to tell her from the start. (I don't care that much.) She's also not so gentle with plants (I have a bunch of orchids rooting, so they're a bit loose in their containers, and they've gotten a little shaken up). I also feel that she's perhaps less thorough with the cleaning than she was the first few times. (Kitchen floor was not quite as clean as it could be, and she must not have mopped the floor upstairs because there will still spots on it.) She always seems to be in a rush. I've started looking for new cleaners, which is always a daunting task. We've been through four in the past year, and are still searching for the best. Since I have a little one, I've decided to "go green", and that apparently requires a lot of "green ones." You can expect to pay a premium for any of the eco-friendly cleaning services in the city. That said, Sandra and her sister were great. They showed up on time (BIG plus), and did a thorough job on our home. They even tackled my closet, and the heaps of clothing strewn all over it. My first impression was that I could trust these people to clean when I'm not home (again BIG plus). Minus one star...Clean it Green is very pricey. It would be the most we've ever spent on cleaning by about double. Then again, in general, I do think you get what you pay for. They're aren't deals. Sure, Green Clean is cheaper, but they'll damage your stuff. And although others are less expensive, they'll use toxic prodcts and forget to clean in corners. The jury's still out on this one. If you're a true baller, use Clean it Green. They're the best I've dealt with so far. read more

Initially I thought it would be a good idea to have someone come over just to help vacuum, dust and scrub my bathroom. When you work 12 hours daily on average, the last thing you want to do with your free time is scrub the damned bathtub! Having Sandra didn't leave me feeling like I had someone simply helping me out. It feel like I was spoiled. My apartment wasn't just clean, it was *spotless*. They left no surface un-dusted, no bit of carpet un-vacuumed and I have never EVER seen the tile in my bathroom that white. They even got out the dirt spots I've been having a hard time removing in front of my entrance! I will be scheduling regular appointments with her from now on. read more

I had been looking for a reliable cleaner for over a year. The trouble I had was getting a service to come at the same time every week. Because I have a small child and juggling childcare between me and my husband, I really wanted a set day and time, so the baby could nap, and we could get in the habit of being prepared (you know...pick up the house before it gets cleaned?!) The sisters Janaina and Sandra have both cleaned my house at different times (each bringing one other person), and they are reliable on time, friendly, bring their own supplies, vacuum and towels (even though I offer mine, I think they are in a routine and like to use their own stuff). They even take their shoes off at the door (or wear special booties!), which is more than I can say for some others. They have asked me from time to time if I am happy with their service/anything they could be doing better, which means to me that they care that I am a customer and want me to be satisfied. This is very rare! They are also genuinely friendly to my toddler daughter, which gets huge brownie points (I know!). Are there some things that I notice that aren't spotless? Yes. But overall is my house clean? Yes. And I know that if I ever had a problem with the service, they would be open to hearing about it and addressing my needs. This is what gets them a 5 star rating. We originally hired Sandra to clean our offices, and she was very accommodating to our limited budget. She handled all of the big items (floors, carpets, dusting, bathroom) and wasn't insistent that we purchase a "deep clean" (unlike some of the other cleaners I consulted). She is very understanding about budget, and does a great job based on your needs. I hired Sandra to clean my apartment after having worked with her for our offices. She made my bathroom SPARKLE (which is no small task--I have been cleaning it myself for over a year), dusted, vacuumed, scrubbed my appliances clean (again, no small task--you should have seen the stove top!) and for the first time in a long time, I can say I'm not embarrassed to have company over. I always feel comfortable leaving Sandra keys, and I appreciate her honest and practical consultations. Plus, there is nothing like coming home to a clean apartment that smells clean (as opposed to "cleaned" with all the associated toxic fumes that often greet you after a cleaning service comes through). There is definitely something to be said for a cleaner who "gets it" and takes her health, the health of her helpers, and the health of her clients into consideration when choosing her cleaning products! read more

As a particularly clean-obsessed person I had been leary of hiring a cleaning service but now that I don't have much time to do it myself I was forced to choose one. I had a slew of recommendations from friends but ended up choosing Clean It Green for two simple reasons: eco-friendly and excellent customer service. She has a great personality, too. I particularly enjoy that she often gives me little tips about things, such as if my caulking needs replacing or how best to put those compost bags on those little compost bins so the bag doesn't fall into itself. Booked the Clean It Green crew to clean my studio apartment after I moved out. Mostly I liked the idea of not using chemicals to clean. The place was extremely dirty as I had neglected it for awhile knowing that would have it cleaned before moving out. While Sandra was nice and attentive, there were some obvious things overlooked even as she showed me what had been done. Windows were not even wiped down, and I went around with a wet rag (only a wet rag!) and cleaned up a lot of places that would have expected the cleaners to get. i found sandra on yelp and based on the reviews was really looking forward to having her clean my studio apartment. i contacted her via email, set up a day and time for her to come - i had to work from home that day because she doesn't like to clean on weekends. i really wanted to give a better review but after my second, and last, experience i just can't. the first time sandra came to my apartment she did a fine job. not stellar, but not horrible. the last time sandra came to clean she left a lot of visible crud on my hardwood floors. i had spilled something a day or two before she came, which i cleaned up (but admittedly not very well since i knew she was coming in just a few day's time). there was still visible residue on my floor. additionally, the area near my kitty litter box was not cleaned at all. also, i had arranged for her to come at 8:30am and she called me the day before asking if she could come at 10:30am instead. i said that was fine - it did give me a little more time to sleep in that morning. the day of she calls me a little bit after 10:00am and says she's running late and she didn't end up arriving until 11:45am. i had tons of errands and things to do that day to prepare for some out of town guests and my whole day now had to be cramped into a few short hours. sandra is a lovely person but based on her issues with arriving on time and the fact that she did not clean my apartment very well, i will not be using her services again. small personal gripe: before leaving my house after cleaning she asked me to write a yelp review about her. i think this is distasteful especially coming from someone who i have not hired to perform regular services and only had clean a few times. read more

when it boils down to just two roommates (of six) cleaning up after everyone else...shit's weak. especially in a kitchen with granite floors and counter tops...crumbs stay where they fall because they are 'camouflage'. i was wary to agree to a cleaning service because that automatically means that no one living in the house ever has to clean again; and i have definite qualms with that, being the anal retentive clean roommate. also, i'm not into harsh toxic cleaning agents covering every surface of my living area, but i gave in when clean roomie #2 found this green cleaning service. they do a super job, getting into every tiny nook and cranny and dusting all surfaces possible. our bathrooms are gleaming, and the camouflage kitchen soldiers have been defeated. read more

Apt for cleaning was scheduled at 10:45 am. They came after 11:15. 30 mins late, not anything, no text regarding this, no call and no sorry. We have a 2 bedroom small apartment in the mission. But the cleaning was only for 1 bedroom, as our roomate moved out, so we doing cleaning after he left, before next one moving in. So the room itself is empty, there is not even closet doors. A smaller size room that only fits full size bed and a dresser. Since room was little and empty, we asked her to clean around the 1 window, and closet. I doubt they took more than 5 min cleaning that room, as it was only vacuumed. For the other part the cleaning was ok. Nothing exceptionally clean. What makes me rate 1 star was running late, rushing out and some stuff below. I told them i will be in the other bedroom. They knocked to ask for money on the way out. I came out and got blocked by the door, and i asked that it was fast, only been 1 hour... They say its faster with 2 ppl, so she took the money and didnt even wait for me to say anything and left! I glanced to the kitchen and was about to say something, about trash and dish, they were gone! The part i am not happy is the basic was not done... Didnt run dishwasher... Didnt take out the trash... Left all the trash for us to take out. And when they were vacuuming they kept stambling on walls. We just painted the walls. Now we have all those dents and marks. And i even gave them extra... Should of checked before gave money, who would expect them flying out so fast... Not using again and not recommend it. read more

Sandra is AMAZING! She is not only an amazing cleaner but she is so friendly, warm and caring. To enlighten you on our situation I am 9 months pregnant on bed rest and the house was piling up with dust and my anxiety over it was increasing daily and to boot we had a baby shower around the corner at our place! After seeing her glowing reviews on YELP I decided to give her a call. She was prompt on getting back to me and we scheduled her to come early on a Friday morning.....well that was the day of the storm here in SF and we were without power all day. Sandra was quick to contact me and due to my particular circumstance, Sandra rearranged her schedule on Saturday and came over early and cleaned our home perfectly and in time for our shower. She went above and beyond with her cleaning. She not only got rid of all the dust, but she cleaned under the couch cushions, got rid of all the cat hair and I have yet to find a spot that was not polished and cleaned to perfection. I've used Sandra's service twice. The first time was great. Everything was shiny clean at a reasonable price. The second was very dissatisfying. I paid more for a lot less. Arrived late, and left early. I paid for 3 hours of cleaning (one person) and got 1 hour (two people) which amounts to just 2 hours. The general cleaning was done but things I pointed out that I wanted cleaned were not done and the team left without letting me know (while I was in my room). When I called to ask about the poor service, I was told that they were rushing off to the next customer who was waiting. The call was then disconnected while I was in the middle of a sentence. I have never written a bad review before and understand that this is someone's livelihood but this is very disappointing. I am sorry to say that I will not use this service again. read more

Clean It Green took care of move-in/out cleanings for us. One place was a 2,150-sqft house and the other a 4-bedroom apartment. I found the Clean It Green ladies really forthcoming, accommodating, reliable and super nice. They did a very good job at both places - especially not knowing what they were going to be up against - and they worked fast too. We will definitely consider them for potential future needs.
