Friendly, fast service at a local family run business. Two days in a row, I was able to call in the morning and get a last minute appointment. We will go here every time. Also the price was great and they take credit cards. read more

Geoffrey R. Knowles at Clean Air in Monterey is THE BEST! My 2001 Chevy S10 had the dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light on and I needed it fixed before I could pass a smog check. Mr. Knowles took great care and with his many years of mechanical expertise was able to rectify the problem and get me back on the road. I recommend Clean Air highly. By far the best customer service I have received in many years! 5 stars across the board. Thank you very much Clean Air. read more

I have been going to Clean Air since the 90s. They are fast, pleasant and have reasonable prices. I recommend them highly.

I needed a star certified smog and a place open on the weekend. They were friendly, quick and helpful.

Friendly, fast, cheery! They accommodated me just 2 hours after I called to see if there was any same-day availability. Easy, smooth, and good communication. What more do you need? I didn't ask about cost, as the timing was most crucial to me. Give them a call! read more

I have been going to Clean Air Smog in Monterey for a few years now, and every time I bring a car in they are friendly and quick. Great experience every time. read more

I called Clean Air on Monday evening shortly before they closed, and they were able to schedule me the very next morning. The other three shops in the area either didn't answer my call or couldn't fit me in for three days. Everyone at Clean Air was friendly, and they really quickly did my smog check and had me out the door. Will definitely be back next time I have a smog check due. read more

What a great experience...I called this morning needing a smog today..Geoff answered and said can you drop by in 30 mins....Absolutely yes. I arrived just as he was finishing one vehicle...he did my paperwork and took the car into shop....15 minutes later all done!!! Nice waiting area and the lady who takes the calls and payments was terrific on the phone to people I heard her talking with. Definitely 5 star, friendly and fast service. Now my go to Smog test venue. read more

Friendly, quick, and inexpensive. I was lucky enough to get a last minute, same-day appointment for a smog certificate. This is rare so make your appointment a few days ahead. Still, he was nice enough to do squeeze me in. Once there, he was efficient, and I was in and out in 20 minutes. the woman in the office was nice and explained what I needed to do at the DMV so I didn't have to be worried about it. It's my understanding that they can make repairs if need be to help you pass in the future. read more

Great experience. I called a few days in advance to schedule an appointment, the inspection was quick and painless, and it wasn't very expensive. Great customer service all around, very nice people working there. read more

I am the Service Advisor for Susi Auto Repair and we love Clean Air! Jeff is our smog guy because we do not perform smogs at our location. He is helpful and fast and can always squeeze a smog in. If there is a problem with one of our cars he technically relays information to my mechanic. Comfy waiting area with great magazines. read more

We(our family) have used this fine company for over 10 years. Honest for sure. In addition to straight answers to all your questions, he also gives true facts and important advice about your car's condition and what's needed. His prices are FAIR and REASONABLE. A m,an you can TRUST. read more

Quick quick quick! Pulled in for a smog check and it went exactly how it should be! Drove in and asked if there happened to be any way we could be snuck in that day for a SMOG check. 12 minutes later we were down the road with a thank you from the owner! Awesome! Will do again! read more

It is really a "breath of fresh air" (sorry, pun intended) working with such honest, nice people. Always a pleasure doing business.

This place is very efficient. The man was very to-the-point and very honest. The service was excellent and fast. The price was very fair, and I'll probably be back in two years to have my smog done again. read more

I wished I could rate this higher than 5-star. 5-star seems like an understatement for this place. I bring my vehicles here and recommend friends and family and always top-notch service. Will be back!!!!! read more

FAST SERVICE! I was in a time crunch. After being sent away from AAA because i needed a smog certificate, i called Clean Air and found out they could squeeze me in but only in the next 2 hours. Immediately i drove there on the thought i might be able to get in earlier if someone cancelled. Sure enough, i showed up and the LOVELY receptionist made sure i was taken care of asap because someone else was late and even went further to give me tips about all the things i could take advantage of through my AAA membership. read more

I went in this past week to get a smog check after I found out my " new to me" car was registered to Star smog checking. I went in, and was done within 10 minutes. Barely finished 2 pages of my book. I will definitely choose this place again for smog checking. read more

Very trustworthy and helpful!!! I didn't pass the smog test the first time since my check engine light was on and he was able to tell me the codes so I could get the problem fixed. It took me a couple of weeks and when I came back he gave me a percentage off since I had paid for the first test. I'd definitely go back. read more

Excellent experience smogging my 19 year old Northstar Cadillac. Pricing is on par with any smog place, but the service seems much better. I recommend you call in first to make an appointment, that way you (and the owner) spend as little time waiting around as necessary. A+ read more

Wow! I was 10 minutes early for my appointment and they took me right away. I was done and back on the road in 15 minutes. The young lady was nice and expedient. I've been to places that advertise 20 minutes or less, and I've waited for over an hour! I will definitely be back! read more

Fast, friendly and fair...what else could you ask for?! I've been here twice for my DMV mandated smog checks and both experiences were positive. It's nice to know that I can depend on them to provide hassle free service and charge reasonable rates. I wish more businesses were as pleasant to work with. read more

I found myself in Carmel for four months due to a job and needed to get my car smogged. I asked the people I was working for who they trust and the words 'Clean Air' were uttered practically before I finished asking my question. With that vote of confidence I called their office and had an appointment for 9:30am the next day (was offered multiple times but chose the one that worked best for myself). I arrived at 9:30 and met Jeff who was kind enough to smog my vehicle. He also took the time to listen to my concerns about the imminent smog (replaced multiple parts due to a check engine light), asked the appropriate questions, and gave me good feedback. When Jeff started my smog I looked at my clock within 16 minutes my smog was completed. Afterwards, we went to the office, he processed paperwork, paid for the service, and wished each other well. Quality service. read more

Called and made an appointment after I bought an out of state vehicle. I was a little nervous as I thought it might not pass but the people at clean air made me feel comfortable and we're very knowledgeable. read more

I love this place. This year is the second year I've used it and they're quick, easy to schedule with and very straight to the point. 5/5

Took my car into Clean Air for a Smog Check, they were recommended by my mechanic who does not do Smog Checks. I was verbally quoted one price when I first walked in then charged $9.00 more when I got the bill. What do these car guys think? They tell you one thing then charge you a differeant price. I'm learning to get absolutely everything in writing when dealing with car guys. They were fast and I didn't have to wait very long for my appointment which is a plus but I could never trust them. read more

Although I was seen right at my appointment time and everything was as expected, the owner and the receptionist lady were the two biggest sour puss, bizarre people I have ever been served by. One needs to remember that they are in the "service industry" ultimately. Put a smile on your puss for Gods-sake. I was exhausted from trying my best to be nice and suck up to those two poker faces at 11 am in the morning. Also toilet in the "office" was filthy and crusted with shit. No paper to dry your hands. After I saw that I couldn't wait to leave. Like I said everything was done just fine but the two owners seemed bitter and resentful that I was there. Will take my 54 dollars elsewhere next time. read more

FAST and friendly service. I was in and out of there in literally 10 mins. Plenty of seating and magazines to keep you busy during your short wait. Don't forget to make an appointment! read more
