I will admit this one could use a little bit of an update - mostly just in the cafe . But it's super nice! I love that they have a dessert case and you can get all your Starbucks drink. On to the review of the comic shop...This place has a lot going for it, graphic novels rack with 30% off, tee-shirts, wall comic books (expensive sought after comic books that are fun to look at on the wall) and what appears to be a large back issue stock. I was killing some time and only bought a comic book oversized sleeve with a backing to protect the first appearance of Shadow Moon Premiere issue 23. I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place!

Also, one thing to note is that the adult men's magazines were not far from the comics. Not the best idea. Despite its size, Bookish is full of a fascinating selection of hardback books and plenty of reading-interest gifts and creative multi-player game components. I loved my visit to The Book Trader. My brother is local to the area and suggested we pop by this…read morebookshop for a visit because they have a shop cat! I met him immediately upon entering the store, as he was sitting right near the door. His name is Dr. Pickles and he is just as lovely as the shop he calls home. The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As the shop's name suggests, they have ample signage outlining the rules and guidelines for trading with them. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.
