Very honest dentist. My boys have loved going since they were babies- no need for a pediatric dentist, they are really gentle and always let them pick a surprise out of the toy box which they love. Originally started going here over a decade ago when another dentist told me I had multiple cavities and needed gum surgery (which they could schedule that day ) I went to dr. Well, when out of the blue, I started experiencing PAIN with one of my teeth...panic set in, what to do? Thankfully, a dentist I had seen many years for necessary crowns (which) I still have today was now located nearby and I was able to make a quick appt to see Dr. Ching on La Palma by Tesla, who is indeed a very empathic person when it comes to nervous patients ! He is not only experienced, fast, and gentile but guides you thru the procedure. I understand whats its like to be in denial when it comes to dental work but eventually if we want to save our teeth we have to act or we pay the price if we wait too long. Praying, the filing that filled my "very big hole"will save my precious tooth but thats a wait a see-although brushing is very important apparently cavities have a mind of their own and had I not waited soo long, no brainer! Dr. Clayton Ching has been our dentist for over 30 years, and we love him. My husband is very sensitive to pain, and Dr. Ching makes sure my husband is comfortable and nearly pain free. I've had invisible braces, root canals, an implant, and all kinds of cavities, and through all of the years, Dr. Ching has done an outstanding job of taking care of our oral health. A couple of years ago, Dr. Ching spotted a tiny suspicious patch under my husband's tongue. He advised us to get it checked at Kaiser. It was cancer. I didn't appreciate how rushed my office visit was, I didn't get a chance to ask questions. He took a quick look at my X-rays then cleaned my teeth and rushed me out. I have been gong to Dr Ching for over 10 years now. Yes, he is fast, but who doesn't want to be in and out of the dentist? Not sure why some people think that is just so awful...I know I sure as heck don't want to be in that chair any longer than I have to! He still checks everything, flosses, scrapes, polishes, does X Rays when needed, blah blah. He isn't going to try to upsell you on anything, or fix something that doesn't need to be fixed. He has by far the best prices and is willing to work with you. So if you feel like sitting in a dentist chair for an hour and be poked and proded at, then yea go somewhere else, but if you have a life (and the dentist isn't your favorite place to go), then Dr. Ching will have you in and out within 20 minutes. read more

After finally getting on my own insurance plan, I realized the pain it was to find a trustworthy and honest dentist. At the time, I needed a lot of work done on my teeth. (A root canal and a few crowns, cavities, etc.) A few other dentists' offices quoted me upwards to $2,000-$6,000 on the work, it was seriously a nightmare. I'm a former patient of Clayton Ching. Pam, the hygienist was wonderful......friendly and thorough. BUT, the porcelain filling Dr. Ching installed disintegrated. The bridge he installed broke and had to be replaced. But the worst was the root canal and crown. Weeks after he installed the crown it came off. He reinstalled it free of charge. It came off many times, he kept reinstalling it, and I wound up chewing with the other side of my mouth. Then the last time it came off he said, "There's nothing here to attach the crown to; you need an implant." I walked out his door FOR THE LAST TIME thinking, "So why did you grind off so much tooth that there was not enough left for the crown to hold on to?" Poor quality dentistry! read more

New insurance force us to change dentist. Found Dr. Chang through Yelp and the reviews. My disappointment has prompted this review. I'm 54, daughter 12. Both of us have been meticulous in our dental health and I know when I'm due for a cleaning from the feel on my teeth. My daughter said it best. "That was fast and the worse cleaning ever Mom" We were out of there in 10 minutes. Both of us. No scrapping no flossing. No oral exam for gum problems. The dr was so timid and non engaging. I was told someone called in sick and after several days I called back with the possible thought that perhaps the hygienists was the one out that day and we could return for a good cleaning. I just got off the phone and was told the dr Does the cleaning. Crap! All I got was a pause in response and a meak " sorry" This is a prime example why people don't bother with Dentist. read more

I had to find a new dentist because my insurance changed. I was happy with my prior dentist. I found Dr. Ching through my insurance provider's website. Dr. Ching was a USC grad and is office is next door to my old dentist. I had my first appointment today for a teeth cleaning and checkup. I was taken to the x-ray room that did not show well. There was a broken and dirty computer printer in the corner of the floor that was not plugged in. There was a microwave on the floor with another piece of equipment on top of it. They use the old fashion x-ray and not the digital as my old dentist did. After the ex-ray I was brought to the room where I would have my cleaning. I thought the girl that did the x-ray would also be the one cleaning my teeth, but it was not. The dentist Dr. Ching actually cleaned them himself, which made me think I was going to get a great cleaning. I WAS WRONG! My entire cleaning was less than 20 minutes and worst of all IT HURT! I almost walked out...seriously! He first started with the scrapper, but before he started he hooked the suction thing onto my cheek. I could not figure out why. I do not drool when I get my teeth scrapped. He was fast and literally just kept going. He then flossed and that was the worst. He was very ROUGH. He would push down hard on the floss until it pushed through and he did not seem to care that he was slamming the floss into my gums. He could tell that I was in discomfort and he kept going and said, "The torture will stop soon." I know he was joking, but it really hurt. At one point during the flossing I raised my head off the seat to stop him and said, Jesus! He had to pause because I sat up but as soon as I put my head back down he got back to flossing. He finished moments later and when I stood up I noticed that HE DID NOT HAVE ANY SHOES ON. Only socks! I have already called my insurance to change dentist. read more

Dr. Ching and his staff are courteous, caring and efficient. If I have to wait for my appointment, it is only for a few minutes. The exam rooms are clean and comfortable. And, they are fast ... I get x-rays and a cleaning done in about 25 minutes. When I had more extensive procedures performed on my teeth, Dr. Ching was very thorough and kind, and explained what he is doing as he progressed. Not even one star can I give this place but it doesn't let me post if I don't. If you value your teeth DO NOT go there. My last cleaning there lasted maybe 5 minutes, he didn't even touch my lower teeth and said it was ready. I thought it was odd and immediately changed dentist, end up loosing two teeth due to periodontal problems for LACK of cleaning, and I was going there twice a year for a cleaning for 3 years without realizing he wasn't even doing that.
