This pond is located right next to the Belmont High School on Concord Avenue. According to Friends of Alewife Reservation, the pond takes up 21 acres and the "park" surrounding it accounts for 13.5 acres. The park is not a huge open space, but there is a tree-lined running/walking trail -- aptly named the Ruth Ippen Tree Walk in honor of a woman who was dedicated to beautifying the area. There is also space for people to bring their dogs, bird watch, maybe lounge or play some frisbee or wiffle ball in the nicer weather, and go sledding! There is a perfect sledding hill that slopes down from Concord Ave. toward the water.
The trail itself is unwalkable at the moment because of all the ice melting, but you can walk or run the sidewalks on the outskirts and still enjoy the pretty scenery. read more
