I have been pestering my wife to go to this place ever since the old place closed. That was The Boil Yard. We went there once and it was terrible. Finally, for her birthday we went for a late lunch. She ordered the chicken sandwich. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the Bang Bang shrimp for an appetizer. The only thing I can say that is positive is that Bri, the waitress was very nice, and the Bang Bang shrimp was very good, everything else was very poor. French fries tasted like they were fried in an old batter of grease My wife's chicken was like hard rubber. She took one bite and didn't eat it and left the rest. I really wanted to like this place, and honestly, I came in fully prepared to leave a generous tip even on Valentine's Day when things can be busy. Unfortunately, the service we received was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Before arriving at 4pm, I called and was told the wait would be about 20 minutes. We showed up 30 minutes later, the restaurant didn't look busy, and there were plenty of open seats at the bar, so we sat down. The bartender with pigtails completely ignored us. Eventually, a second bartender helped us. We were very low-maintenance customers we started with waters and took time to look at the menu. Service was slow from the beginning. When the bartender finally returned to take our order, she cut me off mid-question to help someone else. We ordered the Low Country Boil ($60) and a side salad as an appetizer. I ordered a Tito's lemon drop shot, and my friend ordered one of their canned vodka cocktails with a glass. The canned cocktail arrived without a glass, and my shot never came. Meanwhile, new customers sat down next to us and were immediately greeted, given menus, and served drinks before I ever received mine. My lemon drop shot finally arrived about 15 minutes later with the explanation that it took time to "mull the lemon." Our food arrived without the salad, crawfish, or sausage that were supposed to come with the boil. Since getting the bartender's attention had already been difficult, we started eating because we were starving after paddleboarding. Halfway through the meal, the bartender brought the salad and said it was supposed to come out earlier and joked that she would eat it if we didn't want it which felt unprofessional, especially since it was ordered as an appetizer. To make matters more confusing, another table had received the crawfish that were supposed to be part of our order and had to give them to us themselves. The bartender never checked on us, never refilled drinks, and never followed up about the missing items until we flagged her down. When the bill came, she told us she removed my friend's canned vodka cocktail and discounted my Tito's lemon drop shot from $14 down to $7. If she did indeed charged me half price for that lemon drop shot its was because it took her so long to get it to me (almost like she forgot the order). I find it hard to believe that a lemondrop shot is $14 but an oyster shooter with Titos is $8.I politely asked if anything could be done to account for the incomplete meal and inattentive service. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the bartender became argumentative and raised her voice, saying she was short-staffed and working alone, which was clearly not the case.Her way of resolving the issue was to place another order of what we got which made NO sense at this point. As my friend was signing the checks, the bartender told her she has five kids. If that's the case, then she should be more than capable of handling the volume we experienced and the low-maintenance customers we were. In that moment, the interaction felt immature and unprofessional, especially after the level of service we had just received. I'm not someone who skips tipping I usually tip well but since nothing was done to make the situation right, I chose not to leave one. We left and went down the road for drinks, where the bartenders took pride in their service and they received the 30% tip I originally intended to leave here. We were hesitant because some reviews weren't great for their .75 chicken wings We all had the wings and they were very very good. Perfect size and cooked perfectly. The sweet bbq was good as was the mild. The onions rings were just ok The mushrooms were an ample serving and good. The salad bar was very small (no Mac salad or potato salad) and just basic salad fixings but it was crisp, fresh and very good They have good happy hours deals. It's very clean in there. Arrived and was pleasantly surprised. Nice crowd. Went to servers station to order cocktail, was approached by a very warm and welcoming bartender who took my order right away. That was the last interaction I had with service. I sat there alone and not one person came over to ask if I wanted anything. Extremely disappointed. I was told the wings were great but couldn't find out for myself, extremely poor service! Went to pay for my cocktail since I couldn't add to my order . I've eaten here about 5 times in the past 2 months since we moved to the area and the food is always consistent and service is great. Today my server, Jacob, went above and beyond. I came in to grab a bite because I have a migraine and couldn't be out in the sun another second. I needed food and a salad sounded perfect. They have a nice salad bar! Anyway, when I walked in the door Jacob greeted me and asked where I wanted to sit. I said I had a migraine so somewhere as dark and quiet as possible. He took me to the back of the dining area and shut the lights down to the far back section so I didn't have to look at bright lights. Totally away from speakers, too! Really, really thoughtful of him and I just had to let y'all know to come here and ask for Jacob! Tip him well so he stays cause we need more servers like him! The whole world needs more people like that. Caring for a stranger - I was truly blessed today! As for the food - I always get the same thing: Boiled shrimp and the salad bar. Both are great, although once I forgot to say cold shrimp and the hot ones were heated a second time, I think. They were more shriveled than when I get them cold - so cold it is! Overall a disappointment. I really should have known better, but it's Monday and so many better seafood places are closed on Mondays around here. Stepping into Claw Daddy's is a sensory overload. The first thing that hits you is the stanky mop water and stale beer smell. Damn. Second thing is how poor the lighting is; I think it's dark by design. Third, you realize this place needs a good scrubbing. The fries and hush puppies were both over cooked. The crab legs were tasty but full of water. Cole slaw was average. We stopped by at ClawDaddy's at Crystal River for late night munchies and drinks.That was the closest bar/ restaurant to the hotel where we stayed on our mini vacation. It was easy to find, right off the main road. Stuf was wellcoming. I think the patrons were mostly locals. Very casual place. Our waitress Vanessa was polite,fast and friendly. Our experience was AMAZING! Shout out to our fantastic, sweet, and tireless waitress, Sidney! We have eaten quite a bit of crab across the USA -the crab at Claw Daddy's was perfection! The clusters were cooked perfectly, the crab slipped right out, and the taste was on point! At $45 for all you can eat, it's a smidge high, but worth it. The butter served with the clusters was also notably good quality. Fixings on the salad bar were deliciously homemade and vegetables were incredibly fresh and ripe. We ended with a slice of key lime pie -it was the best we'd ever had! The atmosphere in the dining room and restrooms was clean and free of debris. It's a bit of a drive for us so we likely won't visit often, but if you're in the area -stop in! read more

Won't bother again. Second time here, went to check out the karaoke. If you are going for that DON'T BOTHER! Called ahead to double check time...they confirmed 7pm (that is what is on their website). Waitress was pleasant and nice so it's not her fault the restaurant has dumb rules. I ordered a sandwich for $12 and told the waitress we wanted to split the sandwich. The "Special" board at the entrance said you could add a salad bar to any basket order for an additional $3.99. My wife asked if she could add the salad bar to the order. The answer was yes, but it would be $9.99 because she wasn't allowed add it to my order. Turns out I could add the $4 salad bar to my order, but then I couldn't let her eat it or share it with me. What??? The waitress even went to the manager to ask if we could do this but we were denied. How stupid was that? Who cares who would have eaten that salad? The restaurant lost a $4 upcharge, the waitress lost $0.80 additional tip on the extra $4, and we the customer thought the whole interaction was ridiculous and got upset thinking about it. Ate here Easter Sunday night. We are visiting from atlanta and wanted a bite to eat before checking into our hotel. My first impression was a cross between a hooters and seasoned seafood restaurant. The waitresses were dressed in tight tanktops and short shorts. The bar was full but the restaurant had 4 tables. We already had our doubts about this place when the waitress took a while to take our order but she came just before we were about to walk out so we stayed. The food did come out within a reasonable amount of time so that was a plus. We ordered the Easter special 10oz prime rib, 16 hot wings and soft shell crab sandwich. The food was no bad the prime rib was tender but not seasoned well, the wings were good but nothing extraordinary and the sandwich had 2 big crabs which made it worth the price. The waitress did not refill water and was non existent most of our meal. The decor is pretty old and out dated. Clawdaddys is a seafood restaurant and pub that offers good seafood at an affordable price. Don't expect a fancy dining room or a wine steward. There is pub style bar seating with high tops and booths on one side which is real comfortable with a sea shack atmosphere. The other seating is scattered tables and booths in a larger area that has a nice saltwater fish tank off-center in the middle. The place does date itself as 1980-90s and could use some fresh paint and new flooring. A few updated fixtures and wall coverings could help also, but it's not a bad atmosphere to eat in. If you want a casual night out, the bar seating is perfect. I got a bucket (my usual to share) of Gulf oysters from Louisiana and some fried assortment this last visit. The oysters were smaller than I preferred, probably a mix of small to standard size with about 30-40 making a shucked pint. They tasted great, but at about $1 an oyster I would like them more in the select to large size. We have gotten oysters here for years and the sizes being served have gotten much smaller over the years. Of the 100's of Gulf oysters I've eaten here, there have only been a few that were bad. They have always brought me replacements for the bad ones if you let them know (and don't try to eat them just send them back) Depending on who is doing the cleaning and shucking the day you go determines how much grit and dirt are left on the outside of the shell. If you want to make sure you don't get yours covered in dirt then remind them to brush and wash them off when you order. The fried platter combo was really good (lightly dusted with seasoned flour) We got the pick 3 with nice size large shrimp, oysters, and real scallops. The fries were hot and fresh and the beer on tap was cold and refreshing. There's plenty to choose from, but I recommend the oysters and beer with the fried gator or sea sampler appetizer for your first visit. Fear None, Love All, and Eat Well. read more

Visited this place last Saturday. They were slammed with the Manatee Fest visitors. It wasn't bad when we got there, but it got full pretty quickly. Only 2 servers (one of whom is also a bartender) ran the floor. They both were excellent! Tabatha seemed cool and collected. Friendly and efficient. We got oysters, fried mushrooms, steak with mac and cheese and green beans, and mahi sandwich. Everything came out great! Obviously the fish was frozen, green beans from a can, and mac and cheese are from a box, but they were still pretty good. Kids menu's being "printed" and never arrived. Food took close to an hour and came out in pieces. Sides came first and sat for 15 minutes, then the main course. 2 meals were completely forgotten and took another n30 minutes to get to the table. Even trying to pay the bill we couldn't get the waitress to take our money. Another 30 minutes passed and we ended up walking to Winn Dixie, getting cash and leaving it and walking out. Although it has been 2 years since my wife and I dined at Claw Daddy's, I have to say I was EXTREMELY underwhelmed. We both ordered Scallops and green beans. The scallops were extremely small and worst of all, the green beans were obviously straight out of a can. EVERYTHING was over salted and almost inedible. Service was ok, but lackluster. This is literally the only bad review I have ever written about a restaurant. I gave 3 stars because the interior decor was interesting and the service wasn't terrible.
