Classic Diner - Delicious Double Cheese Burgers and fries - Diners Near Me - Tarboro, North Carolina

Love coming here when I'm craving a burger, hotdog, & fries in Tarboro. The burgers are really good. The price is even better! The seasoned beef patty isn't small and very tasty. I like mine all the way but you can customize it anyway you want. The dogs are also good but I usually get the double cheese burger. The fries are also a can't miss. So if you want a great burger and a budget friendly price you must stop into this diner in beautiful downtown Tarboro. Till next time... read more

Classic diner fare plus at the classic diner! Possibly the best chicken fingers I've ever had! Good food, friendly service and tons of locals. Exactly what I'd expect at a place like this. And, don't order off the menu, get one of the specials written on the daily special board. And try the baked beans, they're yummy! read more

We went here for lunch, and mind you, the food is definitely not anything to be in awe of, but the place was clean and the staff was friendly. It is a fun little 50's theme diner with a jukebox where the songs only cost a quarter. The food is cheap and the shakes are quite fantastic! This is a good place to go if you want quick, cheap food but aren't too picky. read more

Based on Dori's glowing review, I thought this place might have been worth a try. In their defense I was told that I was 15 minutes early, which I did not know because there was a wreath obscuring the open times. I bought a paper outside and sat down. And waited. Eventually a woman came out to take my drink order, I had just had a coffee so I didn't want anything... This is how it went... What do you want to drink....nothing Well are you eating then? ....yes Do you know what you want or do you want a menu?...she asked as she walked away. I gave her my order, poached eggs over grits.... "We don't make poached eggs".....well over medium then "We make over easy, ore medium and over hard.....I repeated over medium. Breakfast came in a nice glass bowl ...with plastic utensils! And the grits were so hot I wondered if it was melting the spoon! I burned my tongue!.....twice. When the waitress came out to ask me how it was I told her about the hotness she was defensive! "It was because it is early, they were just made and you ordered your eggs on top...that keeps the heat in." I got the check with no prices....when I asked her for the prices she exclaimed...."we'll, I have to add its up..." I wondered why that had not already happened. So my friends if you live in Tarboro maybe it's fine for you to eat here, but if you are passing through....keep on going. read more

This is a breakfast review. We were so surprised when we walked in! Just like a 50's diner. Very clean, very friendly. We had eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, and coffee. Eggs were all cooked perfectly (we had sunny side up, scrambled, over-medium). Bacon was tender, but crispy. Pancakes were thick and cake-like with a crispy edge. Good breakfast! Good atmosphere!! read more

Bud's Classic is a great little spot in Tarboro! The staff is friendly and the food is quick, good, and cheap. If you are in the mood for a club sandwich or hot dog, Bud's is a great choice. read more

OMG! The footling hot dog was great. Nothing like being able to get it with mustard, chili, onion and slaw - because you can't in other parts of the country. Looking forward to working my way through the menu! read more

Drinks were about all we could or want to get there. Certainly full of locals. Dark and Dusty and Dreary. Lemonade was good, but we opted to eat elsewhere. read more

Great "down-home" cooking! On Thursday and Friday nights, treat yourself to one of the best steaks at a price you won't see anywhere else. You've got to try it to believe it! read more

First off, Caroline S from Florida, if I was that old and bitter around Christmas time and nick-picked over grits being "hot" and utensils being "plastic", I would just go back to Florida and wait for the end. Second, ive been to the Classic Diner maaaaaany times and it is nothing short of spectacular, its atmosphere is rich, the food is great, and the location is prime. You wont leave hungry, but you'll defintely leave happy :) read more

This is a mixed review. My server was wonderful. She was on the mark, respectful and awesome (yes she got a tip). The tables and floor was clean and the design a kitchie 50's theme. Here is what bugged me: The burger I ordered was the "Pizza Burger" the only thing pizza about it was the mozz cheese. The tomato sauce on it was unseasoned tomato paste. The burger was overcooked on one side (flame broiled at least that was a plus) but it also was unseasoned. However the onion rings were PHENOMENAL!!!!! Best onion rings I have ever had. If I go there again, it will be for the service and the Onion Rings. read more

I eat at Classic Diner two or three times a week. It is a friendly, local diner with good food , good prices and great atmosphere. It is a diner, not a five star restaurant . If that is what you are looking for, there is no need to stop here. But if you are looking for a good hamburger, this IS the place.( the bacon cheeseburger all the way is great. You can have grilled jalapenos added if you're into that!) They serve good food and have friendly service and this is evidenced by the loyal and large crowd of regulars that eat here. I see many of the same people here time and time again. On Thursday and Friday nights they also serve rib eye steak and ribs. Come early or be prepared to wait for a table. It is not the best steak I ever had, But definitely the best one I ever had for the money( $12.99 for a generous sized steak , baked potato and house salad). Oh, and the wait staff are very good. You will not find cookie cutter, corporate trained robots coming to your table. They are real people with real personalities and lend a lot of character to the place. The 50's decor is awesome, but definitely takes a back seat to the people and food. I give this place 4 stars, but not because I am personal friends with the owner. ( Bud and Shirley are five star people all the way). By the way, Yelp should update the address. They have now moved to a larger location at 301 Main Street. (This speaks to the quality of food and people ) read more
