After reading all the horror stories about how quirky and difficult it is to set up Rics, I decided to reach out to Tully. He explained to me how Rickenbackers' 2 truss rods work together to create even tension across the board, and adjusting one affects the other. We also talked about how painful the bridge design was. When I picked up the bass from his shop, I could hardly believe that this was the same bass. The neck was as flat as physics would allow, action was nice and low, and the bridge was intonated bang on. This bass played so poorly, I once considered selling it. Thanks to Tully, I can just focus on playing without fighting it now. I recommend Tully's Shop. I plan to take my guitars and basses to him going forward.

Micki, the theatre program director, is great with the kids and has been incredibly supportive of our daughter. The shows are always high quality and they typically have more than one cast which allows more kids the opportunity to have a part. They also accompany the shows with LIVE MUSIC which is pretty unusual for a children's theater program. Another benefit is the fact that the program draws kids from all over the area and our daughter has made a ton of friends who don't go to her school (she calls them her "theater friends"). Rather than giving it to the luthier and having him put the sound post back, she yammered on and on about how if they did put the sound post back in, it might just fall down again. I also had pegs that were not drilled and asked her if they could drill them. Rather than agreeing to drill them, she went on and on about who knows what. She wrapped up her presentation up by saying "You people buy things on Amazon and expect us..." I have bought things there before like shoulder rests, viola bows and other things. I really expected a better reception than I got. I took the violin to Park Violins down the street. He did both of the repairs and refused to take any money for it. I know that lady has a $35,000 violin because she tells me that every time I was in that store, but that is no reason to be condescending to a customer.

We were referred by our daughter, who had frequented the store. We walked into this Batavia Music store not knowing anything about violins beside the basic stuff, and left with a wealth of knowledge. Tom (owner) is very pleasant; we enjoyed doing business with him. We were quite surprised that he bought an old violin from us, before we settled on anything he had in his inventory. He helped us make the right decision quality and price. It was a joy to be in the presence of so many beautiful instruments and an owner who really cares about his work.
