I am so glad I chose this place over the competitors downtown Cincy. This place will let you book far in advance for small groups or pairs (which their competitors do not allow). They also allow you to bring your own food and alcoholic beverages! (Although the website might say otherwise, don't listen to the website, they're cool). Everyone was hilarious, helpful, and entertaining. Bonus points to Rollo for making fun of us when we sucked, and for taking a selfie when he was taking pics of us. He's a riot, he made sure we had a fantastic time. I truly don't think we would have had as good of a time if we went anywhere else. What a fun place on a weekend afternoon. When I first arrived I was wondering why my friends chose this place at first and I was super intimated by the noise and the loud sounds of axes being thrown up against the wooden boards. Much to my surprise it was actually really fun. Our expert axe advisor had a special name of "Thoraxe" aka Allen. Thoraxe was super friendly was guided us through our sessions with great sense of humor and laughters. The ambiance was very loud but the fun spin began as our expert resident Axe advisor showed us how to throw the axe properly without anyone getting hurt. The cool thing about this place was the ability to bring your own drinks and food to share with your friends. That made it all worth it. The resident expert also engaged us in a series of games and proper axe throwing techniques which made it safe and fun. I highly recommend this place with friends and coworkers. Our host, Stan, was a blast and kept the excitement and fun going for the entire hour and a half we were there. Disclaimer: first timer here so cannot compare to their local competitors. With that being said, they do an excellent job hosting, making you safe, explaining the rules, and above all...having fun. We had a coupon we used and they do a fantastic job keeping large groups organized and working with you if you aren't as comfortable going into it. So, for around $25, I got to do some team based and one on one matches for an hour and a half. I highly recommend if you haven't had the opportunity. This specific location has targets set up that are in regulation with international axe throwing tournaments if that's your thing. They also host leagues a few times a year. The staff seems to have a lot of fun, and they have escape rooms on the premises also. I recommend bringing your own drinks and snacks though. For a Christmas gift I purchased a Groupon to Class Axe, Axe Throwing and we finally went this weekend. It was such a blast! When we got there we could hear everyone cheering as they got bullseyes, which was very exciting! We came as a group of 6 and were set up at a lane against another group of 6, which was so fun! We loved being competitive and trying to beat the other team. The facility is BYOB (beer, wine, cider, just no liquor) however they provided refrigerator's to keep the drinks cold while you play. Before we got started our Axe-pert had us pick Axe-throwing nicknames. Our Axe-pert's name was Ragnar and he was awesome! He lead us through a bunch of different games and made the entire night so much fun! He was also super helpful with teaching axe-throwing techniques and giving advice to help everyone be more successful. This was definitely out of the box activity. My husband and I were looking for a fun date night. An activity that was not the normal "movie date night". I came here for an event and it was a lot of fun. I know axe throwing is super trendy right now and I hadn't been to a place like this before so I was pretty excited. You get split into teams and have an axe leader. Our leader was Stan. Stan explained various rules to us, how to throw the axe, and then taught us games. The games are what surprised me the most. I just thought you came to these places and threw axes and that's it. The games are engaging, competitive, and a lot of fun. I don't know that I'd do a good job explaining them over Yelp so you'll have to check it out for yourself. I personally was not very good at throwing the axe but I did get one bullseye and I was so happy! While I didn't know anyone on either team, it was nice to get to know them and in no time, we were cheering each other on like we'd known each other for years. While the axe throwing was fun and what not, my favorite was watching people's faces after they threw their axe. I loved seeing how happy people were when they nailed their turn. I believe you can bring your own drinks and snacks here. They have little mini fridges set up for you to use for your team. I also wondered what I'd do with my purse but each throwing lane has a table with a little storage section. I would love to come here again with my family or a group of friends - maybe even a group date. It was fun and competitive but never boring. I feel like this is a more fun alternative to something like mini golf or bowling. I think these are one of the things you have to at least try once! One last note: it was a little hot in there. What a fun time. I never thought it would be this much fun. I have been twice and both times were great. The reason for the 3 and not 5 is that this visit we were grouped with 8 other strangers on one throwing lane. Did a lot of standing and watching others. Our first visit was just us 4 which was fun and a lot of throwing time. All for the same price. I think next time we go we will have to clarify that we would like more time to throw. I found a Groupon for axe throwing and it seemed like a fun thing to do with my son, a teenager (18) and it was fun! We went at noon on a Wednesday and were the first and only patrons there... for me that was great as I had irrational fears about the level of danger involved. I also assumed ( yep, I surely did), that we'd be in a group because when we signed up it said there were 36 (or 32) spots available. It was our first time and i was nervous about it being a group. Trisha, or "Sassy Axe" explained everything very well and was right there to stop and re explain things if we forgot-- I kept forgetting to wait for my son to finish throwing and she was thankfully right there to stop me from retrieving my ax before my son was done... after her having to remind me a few times (thank you, and maybe a few more then a few) I would here her voice in my head as I stepped over the line and stop myself. Huge benefit to being the only ones there for the first 30 minutes, and just a few other people after that, is that we learned about the sport and that they have leagues if we love it. This place also has a few escape room challenges to do at another time that cost what the axe throwing costs. I have had the slightest interest in those for a long while but felt intimidated and honestly, too nervous I would focus too much on the task and not have fun.. Trisha changed how I feel about these things by explaining it's the group you come with and maybe a few others others... 2 themes zombie and 80s. Trisha made it sound like a blast and my husband and I are going to get a group together-- thanks! Grew up in the 80s and love the music so this should be a blast! ( Trisha acts as a 80sDJ in the room) Excited to check out and find some 80s gear to enjoy the experience even more. Last thing--- in the future, for axe throwing I will probably go in the evening where it would be more high energy and fun with competitions with other groups..., again, if you are nervous or hVe my irrational fears then I would suggest going during the weekday if possible as I felt completely safe and learn how to do it and then try busier times for the energy. Customer service-- I don't love the extra 5$ we paid on top of the Groupon as it's a hassle and i would rather pay one time especially since I think the savings were only 10$ - with Groupon--so it feels like they are squeezing almost all, saved,extra pennies through fees that should have been built into the Groupon price...NOONE likes that ( people shop Groupon for big deals.. not to be hit up when they redeem as we know many people don't read the small print and extra fees make it feel like bait and switch.) and I really like this place so I hope they get rid of this fee as it almost turned me away when looking for something fun to do with my kiddo.. as I read all the print... I'm glad I didn't turn away but may have if another Groupon popped up without charging more money on top of the Groupon...this fee is clear on the Groupon-- it's not hidden-- but still offensive.. I typically avoid Groupon (or any) deals where shipping and other fees take away from the savings. Trisha or "sassy axe" was terrific and I really look forward to doing this again because of her! She made me feel safe, and my son and I learned a great deal about the sport and honestly, she's just fun!!! I look forward to the DJ escape room and more axe throwing because of her. If you want to throw axes with strangers rather than the people you went to axe throwing to hang out with, then this is the place for you! Website will say no beer, but is actually BYOB. Lots of downtime. Parking is easy, that is a perk. But the amount of downtime is terrible versus other axe throwing places. It was 35 minutes before we really started throwing. We didn't have our own lane. We were smashed with some random people (nice people, but I wasn't there to hang out with them). Had a Groupon so at least it wasn't a complete waste I guess. What a great experience! This was a unique and fun way to spend a night out. And LADIES: don't be scared of it being too manly. It's not a strength based skill. In fact myself and one other female made it to the finals as "LumberLord". The instructors are great at explaining everything and were very knowledgeable. They broke us into teams and we had some good hearted competitions! This could make for a great corporate team building exercise, birthday party, bachelor/bachelorette party, etc. I had SO much fun and will be back again! My one and only complaint is that there is no A/C in the building. We went on a 90 degree day and even as it turned dark with all fans running and a warehouse door open it did not cool down inside, so be prepared! There are heaters for winter and the activity keeps you plenty warm so I don't foresee needing too many layers for winter. read more

We had a great time with our CAT guy who was a fun coach/safety monitor/referee and all-around cheerleader. He gave us basic training, helped us get acquainted with the games, and supported our good fun. Generally, other than the throwing cage, the venue was not that impressive. It has a very industrial feeling and some of my party would have liked another selection of music in the background. Some in the group reported that check-in seemed a bit disorganized, but then when working with groups that happens. We were six people and were asked to team with two people sharing our same cage to make an even four and four per side. That was fun, and a nice social opportunity. Knowing that was possible ahead of time would be helpful. We may have been told that, but since I didn't do the booking I don't know if we were pre-informed. It was nice that CAT had a refrigerator for BYO items, but I would also like to have some taller stools/chairs with a bit more room for viewing while waiting to throw. While the axe throwing experience was great, there were issues. Axe host was energetic but due to shortage of staff we were sitting around waiting a lot!!! Our host was managing multiple lanes at the same time. So much so we considered "is it over"?? We were also paired with a really Large group of strangers which was fine except we did not get to spend any time with the friends we came with.... well except when we were waiting so much. In all honesty the combined group on our lane was way too large and when we were waiting around walking the other groups were much smaller. A few of our friends only threw 6-7 times. Quite expensive per throw. So over sized group plus part time host diminished the actual experience. There was no availability to sharpen our axes, change or boards or spray them down. When we expressed the concerns to the front office they were apologetic but nothing changed. Will throw again definite but likely not here as there are so many place popping up now. read more
