Tim (who apparently runs the place) called me literally minutes before closing to ask if I was coming, then dumped a random Kia Forte by a flag in the parking lot and left the keys inside like he was doing me a favor. Not only was it the WRONG CAR (I booked an SUV, got a Kia sedan), but it reeked of smoke. When I called to complain, Tim acted clueless and said he didn't see an SUV on the order--total nonsense, since my Orbitz receipt clearly says "mid-size SUV." Either he can't read, or he just doesn't care. His solution? I could drive 45-90 minutes (depending on traffic) the next day to swap cars, or maybe they'd bring me one. Zero accountability, zero customer service. He even told me to "call his manager" rather than bothering to fix his own mess. Why is it my job to chase down his boss after I've already been ripped off? And as the cherry on top, I had to pay $12 just to get out of the parking lot. They offered to reimburse me, but at that point, I was so disgusted I refused. This place is a total scam operation--unprofessional, disorganized, and run by people who shouldn't be in business. Save yourself the headache and go literally ANYWHERE else. You've been warned.

They pick you up from the airport, so there is NO LINE to stand in. Your paperwork is awaiting you as is your car, and the guys transferred all of our luggage just apparently automatically. And when we returned, it was to a friendly smile, a wave, and they remembered who we were. You just don't see this in the car rental business, and we rent a lot of cars. Also no annoying big upgrade sell thing going on and no extra charges . We will always rent from Desert in the future.

I don't even know how to start this review…read more.. It was a last minute booking so that was that. Thinking that it was during the week, the place was pretty easy to pick up and drop off. Well, that's wishful thinking. This location is part of a little strip mall with a few other businesses and along the main strip of Palm Canyon Drive. Parking is somewhat of a first come first serve as the lot was used for the rental cars. When we picked up the car, there were a few people also waiting. But only one person was working. Let me just say, the lady working was sweet and trying to accommodate everyone. It's just, this place is a mess. One person working the desk the whole time I was there. I had a reservation for 2pm and didn't drive off with a car until almost 2:45. First off, the car I reserved apparently wasn't available so that was a bummer. She did offered us another but there was an additional fee to it. Which we didn't quite get as in the agreement they send you, if your car isn't available, another option would be available an no additional charge. So being charge more for a different car was not what we expected. Also it did take more time as the car wasn't cleaned which they had to get that sorted out for us. Again, as there was the only one staff on deck, she had to get that taken care for us which the place was left unattended with us just waiting as well as the other patron. Car itself was nice I must say. Only downfall, for some reason we could not get the freakin radio to work. The station that it was set on when we picked it up was fine but about 15 minutes into the ride, it started to static up. Even with all the other station that was programmed, could not get anything to work. It can't be that hard to change or find a station but something with this car, it just keeps scrolling over and over and never found a station. And that was for a good hour or so in the car. Couldn't figure out why a station wouldn't work. When one finally did work, it was one that wasn't what we normally would listen to but oh well. We tried. The car itself was roomy which was nice. The original car we booked wasn't available as something was wrong with it as we were told so this one was the only option and was an additional fee. Then comes the return. Still a weekday and the place was pretty busy. At least this time there was two staff on deck. But the same thing, it was slow and trying to serve everyone. What we didn't get was, why was there no runner or someone in charge of the cars so whoever was at the counter could just accommodate the customer. There was about 8 of us when i arrived to return the car which also took a very long time. At one point, everyone was just staring at each other and wondering what was going on. One of the staff had to take a car to get wash as it want dirty while the other staff left to fill a car up with gas. Everyone was literally looking at each other and was like, what now. That was good while until someone actually came back. How can you just leave with no staff and customers just standing and sitting there. At least have someone else on deck to fill the car up and prepare it for washing before sending it off with the customers. Honestly, it was so unorganized. Mind you the gal that took care of us was very sweet and I understand trying to help everyone. But to have something so unorganized and leaving while customers are waiting and wondering what just happened. Even a few of the guest had regrets of not getting a car from the airport. It's just not organized. I should stick to picking up a rental at the airport which has alway been a breeze.

The RV park itself is peaceful, easy to navigate, and in a really convenient location if you're bouncing between Indio and Joshua Tree -- which I did. I even made it out to Joshua Tree National Park, and the drive from the resort was super smooth. The resort has plenty of space, good energy, and the overall environment feels safe and relaxed. Staff was decent and check‑in was easy. That said, the toilets definitely need a deep cleaning. Not terrible, but not up to the standard the rest of the park sets. If they improved that, it would elevate the whole experience.

The camping itself is not horrid in any aspect- it is mainly the promises that it fails to keep. A friend and I recently camped here for Coachella weekend two and spent $75 each on air balloon rides- they ended up being cancelled. That was upsetting but understandable considering the winds were said to be strong. There were said to be four to five shuttles to transport people to and back from Coachella. An employee even said to us as we parked, "don't worry it's so friendly here you can even get the driver's number and text him when you're ready to go" Turns out there are only three shuttles- no one is allowed to have the drivers phone number for some reason. The shuttles arrive every hour with poor time leaving 30-40 people waiting for shuttles for over an hour on both day 1 and day 2 of Coachella. If not longer- we ended up taking a private bus back because our experience was so bad. Considering we paid $75 each for shuttle passes it's ultimately upsetting and irritating. Basecamp was intended to be a fun place to stay and hangout and with a pool and bars it seems like it- but they are also lacking in Amenaties- with only 3-4 small lounge areas there really is no place to hangout during the hot days. In 3 words: Awful Horrible Deception!…read more Base Camp made a reduction to the no of nights during my stay from 4 nights to 3 on 19th April 2018 a few hours prior to the night of my check in, I received an email from Base Camp stating that check in was cancelled due to winds. This was extremely unfortunate news on the night of myself and my guest's arrival from London to LA as the notice provided on the weather forecast was only announced at very short notice. As a result of this late announcement, alternative accommodation had to be sought and paid for, on the same day of my arrival as there was no other option of where to sleep. This proved to be very stressful and expensive and an inconvenient start to my Coachella holiday. I visited Base Camp based on reviews and recommendations online and my overall experience proved to have fallen short of anything positive. Upon arrival at the check-in desk on 20th April, we were not welcomed so gracefully, in addition to this - not one colleague apologised for the cancellation made with little detail and notice and showed little regard for the inconvenience it caused for the guests. The reasons for the cancellation on this occasion, as a Customer, was completely outside of our control. The decision was made by Base Camp but no refund had been accounted for the loss of nights stay and accommodation. Whilst safety may have been the driver, forecasts should have been assessed well in advance and communicated clearly to all guests in the most practical form via email, or your website. I repeatedly requested to speak to a site manager, who was never available, I was advised he will visit our tent but never did. I then Spoke to Derrick (Supervisor) whom advised that comms would definitely be sent out to guests on the handling of our cancelled check in on 19th April and added that any costs incurred to arrange alternative accommodation would also be taken care of; but zero communication has been received to date!!!. The management of this incident has been below standard. Additional concerns and issues that lead to an overall poor experience: - Directions to venue were unclear, no signs anywhere close the the front of the campsite stating "Base Camp" - Toilets were dirty, constantly blocked and lacked hygiene and sanitizations - Blankets and sheets limited, hard beds - Pool was extremely small - Showers were cold and stopped intermittently and were very unreliable - Tents were not and far from furnished, a bed and chair is basic and looked nothing as advertised on the website - Staff were rude and charged $75 for a shuttle bus that wasn't well highlighted (no Base Camp sign or red lights were placed on our 10pm bus as we were previously advised) on return back to camp from Coachella festival. This completely ruined out Coachella stay, avoid avoid AVOID!
