The resort is only about 15 min by car to the grounds, if I had known that maybe I would try to make other arrangements.

Honestly never heard of this place until we were looking for something to do. It's just a couple miles from the main strip of 111. But tucked behind some of the beautiful gated communities, you end up here. We didn't know what to expect or how it would be. Thought it would be some park of sorts. Well... It is tucked with the mountains in the background which makes for a beautiful view. Hiking is not far from it and there's loads of beautiful homes in gated communities. We didn't know that camping was also offered here. It's a little drive up to the main gate which there's a fee for entering. The person working the station was gracious enough to let us in as we just wanted to check it out. First off, it's a man made lake. You enter the park area with parking both to the left and right side. There's plenty of spots in both of the parking lot. We went to the right which from the looks of the park, it is well maintained. There's a small little playground on one end, a pool area in the middle and a pickleball court and a basketball court to the other end. That's would be the main park area. If you continue to drive down toward the front, there's campsites. Areas with a grill, a spot for your car as well as water and electricity. Depending on what you need, the fee will be added. You could just camp as if without the electricity. Also the sites are pretty much next to each other. We drove to the other side where there's more campsite which this one is more primitive style. Bring everything yourself. The other side was more of a dirt lot. Not sure what it would be utilize for. Lake area does look man made and well maintained. Looking down it looked as it was like an amphitheater with the steeps leading down. We did find out that you can fish but no swimming or boating allowed. There's a fee if you wanted to fish. Basically a fee for everything. Overall, it's a decent park tucked away. Camping available but not the roughing kind. Small park area but does have a pool. It was pretty quiet when we arrived as it was hot. Would we pay to come in after we've seen this place, probably not. But at least we know what to expect incase we do happen to be back again.

The lake was very low and the water was not accessible except in a few areas. No dogs allowed in the water. It's definitely not a beautiful place but might be fun for groups and kids. We hoped to possibly see some bighorn sheep but they have put up a fence so they can't get to the lake now.

Next to the campground has massive rock formations. If you're not staying at the campground there are only four parking spots but you can park on the side of the road just outside the entrance. The campground is in a central location with other campgrounds and attractions nearby. Even if you're not staying there it's nice to walk around and check out the rocks.

We camp at Jumbo Rocks every year and it never gets old. The rock formations are just stunning like…read morenature's playground. You do need to book in advance though, this place fills up quick. Restrooms? Meh. Not the best, but we bring our own setup so it's not a dealbreaker. Just a heads-up: double-check how many vehicles your campsite allows. Last year we showed up with two cars but only had one parking spot such a rookie mistake! Thankfully our neighbors were cool and let us use their extra. There are tons of trails around here, with different levels depending on how much you feel like sweating. No water on-site though, so come prepared. Especially if you're visiting in the summer please bring a pack, hydrate often, and avoid turning your hike into a heat stroke story. Also, bees! They're not aggressive, but if you're allergic, bring your EpiPen or maybe rethink the trip. And the sunset? Unreal. Watching the sun bounce off those rocks is something else. If you're not staying overnight, you can still swing by and do the Skull Rock Trail it's short, sweet, and perfect for a day trip.

The resort is quite large and it could be a bit of a walk depending on your site location so I'd recommend bringing bikes unless you would prefer to rent a golf cart. They have a nice walking path on the property and dog parks and stops for your fury friends along the way. Overall it was a great stay filled with lots of fun memories and beautiful sunsets. So much that our members can't wait to come back next year. Highly recommend this resort.

Ladder Canyon & Painted Canyon Trail was a popular and crowded hike near Mecca, California. Trail was flat and sandy while you're at the bottom of the canyons. Started the loop clockwise; look for the ladder on your left. Requires a little bit of rock scrambling at this part and some ladders to get to the slot canyons. Trail becomes a bit more rocky with a slight incline towards the top of the canyons. Furthermore, there was a rope and ladder near the end of the loop. Overall, this was unique trail with stunning views throughout the hike! Required to drive on a well maintained dirt road for ~4.6 miles. Low clearance cars could make it; go slow and dodge the bigger bumps as you get closer to the parking. No restroom at the trailhead! The RV park itself is peaceful, easy to navigate, and in a really convenient location if you're bouncing between Indio and Joshua Tree -- which I did. I even made it out to Joshua Tree National Park, and the drive from the resort was super smooth. The resort has plenty of space, good energy, and the overall environment feels safe and relaxed. Staff was decent and check‑in was easy. That said, the toilets definitely need a deep cleaning. Not terrible, but not up to the standard the rest of the park sets. If they improved that, it would elevate the whole experience.
