Dripping Springs Campground seems like a popular spot to camp as it was completely full both times I visited. The campsites have plenty of parking spots, firepits, and restrooms nearby (no showers.) There are also equestrian-dedicated campsites. The camp hosts seem to run a tight ship; no problems noted with lots of families with young kids and groups of twenty-somethings. Reservations are essential, especially in spring and summer. The trails are what really attracted me to this area; the campsite is right next to the Agua Tibia wildnerness and protects several endangered species (the creek was closed due to Arroyo Toad spawning time). Lots of wildflowers were in bloom and the trails were well maintained. There are a few seeps along the Dripping Springs trail but I didn't make it all the way up the dripping spring marked on the Agua Tibia Wildernss map at the trailhead. Adventure Pass required for day parking in the lot.

This is one if the better campgrounds I've been to. 1. The trail is nice. Its a good hike and not too hard. 2. The workers here are very friendly. 3. It's clean and everyone takes care if their own mess when they leave. The lots are pretty paved and there's a fire pit, grill, and area for your pots. My family and I only used the the fire pit, as we like more real camping. We make our own fire and we don't use propane or a portable stove or anything. We also chop our own wood. You're not supposed to chop wood at this camp site but we found dead trees and wood and chopped that. Lot 20, 21, and 22 seem pretty nice. I think lot 21 is the nicest. There's water and the bathroom is fairly clean. No showers, or a lake to fish in. All and all, this place was pretty decent. I would definitely camp here again and again!

This review is mostly for the trail, as I didn't camp here (and I wouldn't want to: a lot of the sites towards the entrance had very little flat spots, little shade, and there's not even any showers), but that's beside the point. I might have enjoyed the Dripping Spring trail more, if it actually had something that dripped or even a spring. But it is so unaptly named! While it was my 'bad' for choosing hiking buddies that I did not match the pace of (imagine my growing irritation of basically having to jog up and then back down the hills of this particular trail), I did really look forward to the view from the top of the trail. Alas, the view was better around 1/3 of the way up... at the point you can see the full lake and the mountains across the way, you should just turn around and go back. The top of the trail is a sign post and a bunch of logs to rest on, and the vegetation so overgrown that all you see is... plants. I was expecting big blue skies and a 360 degree view and got neither. I was told if I hiked up another 4 or so miles on the connecting trail that the view would be better, but I already felt misled and didn't want to post a 2-star review in further disappointment (yes, I am aware I could just skip writing a review, but Yelp is my journal so I can remember people and events). As it were, I'd already completed about 6 miles to a 3,000 ft. elevation at mostly a jogging pace. I was done. Would I return? Maybe, but there's other trails and camp grounds in SD county. Pros: - no trail off-shoots (read: you can't get lost) - fairly wide path that's easy to follow - a decent workout - decent restrooms Cons: - vegetation was grossly overgrown - must check self for ticks due to said vegetation - no dripping springs and no mountainous views at top

Great place for camping and hiking with a ton of green and scenic places to explore. And here to hike with the dog for the first time and found this to be worthy of a 5 star review Parking requires a Wilderness pass and camping for this location requires California Park reservation. The hike which is located at the end of the campground begins with the trail head and useful information. During the rainy season being shoes and gear your not afraid to get wet as there's a stream that requires crossing if you want to follow the hike uphill The actual hike is not too bad with a gradual climb that is wide enough and maintained so no worries about slipping too much or missing your footing. Switch back probably less than 20 and once you reach the top is level from there Great experience

Beautiful wildflowers were in bloom and snow capped mountains were a stunning view when we visited last week (March 2023) The River was also full so we had to take our shoes and socks off to cross the stream. Bring a towel if you don't want to air dry.

I really enjoyed hiking at this place. Second time I visit. We did the 2.5 miles of the wild horse trail and then decided to go down to the river you see below. We took the river back to the campground. There was plenty of shade on this trail only downer was that there were sooo many ticks both on the trail and on the river. I think I removed about 3 or 4 ticks off my bf and I removed 2 off myself that I could find. These by the way are Dog ticks. I was considering calling the ranger and informing them because these could easily get on dogs or humans and bring that home to bite hikers and others. Over all I had a great time and truly enjoyed myself.

I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this campground was! Each space is clearly marked as reserved or open, has a nicely paved parking spot, comes with a picnic table and a lot of open space to set up camp. The campground also has bathrooms that aren't disgusting and a water spigot so you don't have to bring in a ton of water. The only downside to this campground is the noise - campers really let loose and enjoy themselves here so just come prepared with ear plugs and you should be fine. *Dog friendly*

Great spot to camp & the camp host, Mike, was very helpful & welcoming! * clean campground * clean restrooms! * great energy

Fun campground. Each campsite is next to each other but each is big enough that it doesn't really matter. Went with a big group of college students and i was sure we would've been annoying to neighboring campers but because of how big the camp site was everyone minded themselves. I was actually surprised they had bathrooms; it was a toilet and a deep dark hole beneath it but its better than popping a squat.

Let's get it out of the way and say there are no showers, no sinks and no flush able toilets. Gross right? Vault toilets are like glorified porta pottys. Not happy! Now the good stuff. Easy to get to from San Diego. 11 miles east of Temecula on the 79. Great group sites. Friendly camp host. Well stocked with toilet paper. Lots of shade and pavement for kids to ride around in. Bring scooters. There are also great trees to climb and an easy short hike right on site. So next time Vail Lake is booked come here for a cheap vacation. $15 for a single site and only $30 for a double site with up to 15 people.

I have to say that my family and I are supper sad, the camp host and his family are leaving the grounds and no longer will be the host here. It is a shame that they have to go as they did a fantastic job maintaining the area. The forestry service needs to look at Jose as he is so unprofessional! He drives through the camp area very fast and is rude to campers. He put a stop to the host selling wood, which makes no sense at all when there is a big sign that states " buy it where you burn it!" How do you do that when you can not purchase wood. As a federal worker myself I would be ashamed to have a man like Jose working with decent people who are looking to relax in the mountains. I give two stars because of the National Forest service failing to do their job. I hope they release him from his duties as he is a sore eye to the government! I strongly recommend that all that frequently use this site go else where as you will not be happy with Jose and his lack of service!

We had an awesome time here. The lady camp host especially made it really great. She was nice and attentive and REALLY helped us out because we were kind confused. we stayed in spot 18! it was pretty chilly at nice but overall fun! the hiking trail is beautiful. besides the crows in the morning being loud and eating my dogs food.. the site comes with a fire pit, a bench, and a bbq. they have running water spouts every other couple sites. the bathrooms were as good as you'd expect.... haha.

Ask the Community - Dripping Springs Campground

Which site do you recommend? In particular, shade and not so close to my neighbors.

Drive up to the second level. Bigger sites and more privacy.

    Is there any showers here?

    No, unfortunately not.

Is there a public lake there that we can swim in?

Not at the camp ground. There's a creek but, it's mostly dry unless after frequent rain.

Does anyone know if they sell ice?

No. Just firewood at least when I've been there.

I have a group of 8-10 people for a Saturday in August and need to know if they will be full or not.…

Hidden Gem With a Split Personality -- Know What You're Booking…read more Native Falls (formerly Indian Oaks) sits right between Marietta and Temecula wine country, and it's one of those places that can either be exactly what you want... or completely miss the mark depending on expectations. First impression, this place is visually dialed in. The lake, waterfall, oak trees, and overall layout give it a boutique campground feel you don't usually get this close to Temecula. It feels more like a curated outdoor resort than a rough-it campsite. You're minutes from wineries, but once you're inside, it actually feels tucked away. Where it really shines is family-friendly activity level. This is not sit-in-silence camping. You've got swimming, paddleboards, fishing, pickleball, and a beach-style setup that keeps kids busy all day. If you're bringing family, especially younger kids, this place delivers. The staff consistently gets high marks, and that shows up in real-world experience. People mention they're helpful, friendly, and actually engaged, which is rarer than it should be. The Reality Check: "This is where expectations matter." * Not a quiet nature escape This is more "social campground" than "off-grid retreat." Expect kids, music, movement. If you want silence, this isn't it. * Tent sites can be hit or miss Some are close to the road, so you'll get dust and traffic noise. That breaks the illusion pretty quickly. * Still evolving The place is clearly being upgraded. Some areas feel polished, others still feel mid-renovation. Bathrooms and infrastructure can be inconsistent depending on timing. * More "fun zone" than wilderness Think lake day with camping attached, not deep nature immersion. What It Really Is: This is a hybrid between a campground and a low-key outdoor resort. Great for: Families, casual campers, wine country weekends, group trips Not ideal for: Hardcore campers, solitude seekers, or anyone expecting national park-level quiet Bottom Line: If you go in expecting a polished, activity-driven campground with a great setting, you'll probably love it. If you're chasing peace, silence, and raw nature, you'll leave wondering what the hype was about.

We stayed in an older more developed part of the campground and it was semi ok. Sites were tight but clean. Had all the hookups and a fire pit. But it was loud. Neighbors across from us in the center portion of the section were obnoxiously loud. We could hear their conversations clearly because they were yelling across camp sites (they were a group traveling together.) And I'm all for fun, but show a little courtesy. And one night, they illuminated the entire campground with what can be only described as the sun. It's the brightest light I ever seen. It was stronger than movie studio lights and they had it raised high on a pole so it shown down on the entire area. It's the first time I almost went to another camp site and told someone off. Our site was at the base of a hill and you could see our shadows against the hill the light was so bright. I had to move our car to block the light. I ended up not going over to their site and they finally turned it off. Unreal. Then the music from the restraint area was blaring until 10p. Electric bikes and golf carts were everywhere as well. It's a huge campground so I get people need them but they're a little dangerous in the evening. The bathroom stalls were flooded and the showers had holes in the walls and were very run down. I had great time with my wife and our dogs, plus we had nice neighbors on either side which was good, but I don't think we'll be back. For the money there are better options. I'd suggest this KOA fix up the bathrooms and put some courtesy rules in place. I still can't believe those people with light.

I could've tolerated staying at the campground but I decided to leave and drive into town for a cold sweet drink. Important info: Weak or no signal once you enter Warren Road. I have Verizon. I was told at the Check in booth there is signal, but it is weak. I got some signal driving to the campground, very spotty. So if you need to let someone know you have arrived to the campground, find a safe way to let them know before entering Warren Road. It's a beautiful drive once you turn onto Warren Road. View of the meadow with the hills in the background. Watch for the speed bumps and wild life crossing. I didn't see any wildlife crossing the road, but there are signs. There is a primitive camping section and rv/trailer sites with hookups. The group campground is located in a different area just before the Camp Store. The Camp Store has two sizes of ice for purchase. Firewood and ice cream the most important (lol). They have Lake Skinner memorabilia. I purchased stickers. They have lots of drinks to offer and even bottle of wine and port. This campground is in wine country so you might want to do some wine tasting instead. If you happen to forget some camping supplies they have a variety of things available and even for fishing since you can fish, boat, and kayak at the lake. From what I understand you can rent kayaks too. The group campground only have porta potty rooms. No showers. These are partial hook up sites with electric and water. One side to this group location has a good view of the lake. Trees are sparse at this group site. Bring shade and weights or tie downs for your shade. There is occasionally wind gusts. Sometimes they last awhile. There is a community pergola with metal picnic tables. The pergola is slats shading so not full coverage. Next to this area is one cement fire ring. Electric is available at this pergola but I heard it can be overloaded if too many things are plugged in. I drove through the campground. It's very pretty, very green, plenty of trees and right now looks like plenty of parking because it's not summer yet. The Camp Store mentioned that the adjoining restaurant will probably not be in service until next year (2027). They need to ad AC and some equipment in the kitchen. The water park feature is not open for use at the moment. Showers are located between A and B primitive campgrounds. The women's have two showers available. No coins needed . The showers and sinks are powered by using the pump step (wash station) or pump push buttons (in the shower area) I think it's a very nice campground. I would like to go when it's a little tad cooler. The plus, is you will find some time to relax and enjoy the birds singing throughout the park.

There's a dog park, a dog washing station, a laundry room, showers, a pool, picnic areas and hook ups for water, electricity and sewage. I felt at ease. I couldn't wait to come back... Unfortunately things changed and broke my heart. My suv was experiencing power steering issues so security was kind enough to allow my partner and I to gather up some items at auto zone and work on our car in an empty area of the Pala parking lot. As my partner was finishing up, I told him we may as well just pay for another night at the rv resort so we could use their showers because he was covered in sweat and car fluids. I walked over there and spoke to the nice young girl I had communicated with earlier and told her I'd like to reserve another night and I'm happy to pay (my stay was comp'd due to my player status at Pala Casino). Her reply was "I understand but unfortunately your RV is not allowed to be at our resort anymore. We cannot accept it. The photos you submitted were not the same as what we saw in person." See, I had to get my RV approved to even be allowed before I arrived because of the year (1998). I sent in good pictures of course with great angles... I want the vehicle to look as nice as possible. It was the motorhome version of "you can't sit with us" from mean girls. I was stunned. I'm still stunned. We fit in with every other person there at the resort. I'm sorry our motor home wasn't 6 figures. But it's not an eye sore by any means. It's just not a crazy luxury one like the others that surrounded us. I mean, one of the neighbors admitted his vehicle was $400k+ and invited us to come in and look around. It looked like the Taj Mahal without exaggeration. I know my face fell and I simply replied "...oh..". The girl then goes "I see your stay was a casino comp, can't you go to the hotel?" I was mortified. I just said "yeah... I guess." And I walked away. And I cried. Apparently because my RV isn't brand new and expensive, I am undeserving of a nice, comfortable place that feels like a second home to visit with my loved ones and our humble motorhome. Weeks pass and after my partner spoke to the manager, she let him know that two things needed to be fixed on our Class A: the awnings and the apparent unsightly what appeared to be small areas of "rust" towards the top of the RV. We went ahead and removed those issues. I proceeded to attempt to book a few nights there and I received a response stating that although they appreciate us fixing the cosmetic issues, now apparently we are told from our last visit, either the RV or my Mercedes SUV left a, once again, unsightly oil or liquid substance behind on the pad where we were parked. And I quote, "To stay at the Pala RV Resort, all vehicles must be well maintained and in good running condition. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate a stay at this time". Honestly, I don't know why I continue to become shocked by the types of responses I receive from this place. I don't know what kind of training they're given but the elitest vibe and the "you guys aren't good enough" attitude shot back at adults who are just trying to find a comfortable, safe and pleasant area to reside for a few days in our motor home along with our sweet dogs is just so unnecessarily rude, cruel and demeaning. Is the upscale reputation being upheld far more important than respect, kindness and a helpful, welcoming vantage point? In conclusion, as long as your trailer or motor vehicle is pristine, less than 20 years old and you are upper middle, upper class or better yet, a one percenter, this place is PERFECT for you, all your needs will be met, respect will be given to the utmost degree. If you are anything less than that, go find yourself a spot in a Walmart parking lot or the bureau of land management because you won't have a place for yourself here... well, you may get a "pass" for a stay but then you'll be reminded how unworthy you are to be in "such a high standard establishment." Above offended and angry, I'm hurt, upset and appalled by the way this has been handled. Thinking of these interactions actually gives me a great discomfort in my stomach and it's a shame.

I love camping! If I could live in a certain way of life, camping would be it! But this was a…read morecamping experience to remember! The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

Lake Skinner - A Perfect Camping & Glamping Escape!…read more Yesterday, I packed up my two boys (ages 8 & 10) and their friend from school (also 8) for our very first camping/glamping adventure at Lake Skinner--and it was absolutely perfect. We booked a site with just the basics--electrical and water hookups--for only $50, which was all we needed for our tiny camper. The campground was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of open sites with different options and amenities, including a camp store for convenience. Some of our favorite spots were the splash pad and the playgrounds--perfect for keeping the kids entertained. Even if you just come for the day, these areas alone make it worth the trip. The kids had a blast, and it was wonderful seeing so many other families enjoying themselves too. Since we had their friend with us, we left around 8 PM to drop him back home--only about a 20-minute drive to Murrieta--then returned to the campsite, played a few games in the camper, and settled in for the night. With a 6 AM wake-up, we still made it home in time to freshen up, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready for school. (We even packed their backpacks just in case we needed to go straight from camp!) My boys haven't stopped talking about the trip--how much fun they had, how exciting it was to sleep overnight, and how much they want to go back. As a retired Navy Chief (41 years old) now balancing a busy real estate career, this is exactly how I want to spend my free time--unplugging, connecting with nature, and making lasting memories with my kids. Affordable, family-friendly, and packed with fun--Lake Skinner has definitely earned a spot on our repeat list. We can't wait to do it again!
