First time coming to Lake Skinner and we Loved it!! Had a blast just fishing and relaxing, plenty of rv parking or tent camping and the drive and views are absolutely gorgeous!!! Once we arrived we were greeted with a big smile and Welcomed in with no hassle. Definitely one of my top spots

We went here last weekend place was good.. splash pad was great for the kid but some area were broken and wished that had better restroom but it was an ok place to spend time with family

I am happy to finally experience camping at an RV ideal spot. Paying $50 per night for max of 2 cars and 6 people per spot with own drain, electric outlet, fire-pit, and picnic table., I cam confirm price is reasonable. My family had a yearly trip to Lake Skinner, and being my first time, I must say how lucky I was to have a staffed spot. It was average 105 degree Fahrenheit everyday, so we didn't go too crazy in activities. The only active part we had access to was the Splash Pad playground and boat rental ($110 for 2 hours with max 8 person capacity). The bathrooms with shower stalls (separated by walls and doors) were OK. They were decent enough to use, but I preferred my portable toilet and tent. I like to clean my portable toilet rather using the shared bathroom stall that didn't have toilet paper cover and tends to run out of toilet paper. Plus my location C 307 was almost farthest to its location. I cannot give five stars, because the spaces are a tad close, so hopefully your neighbor is not crazy past 10 PM. We could have called rangers to help, but we let the party go on. On top of the space, the birds and coyotes are so loud! It may be hard to sleep, so I suggest bringing ear plugs! Also suggest using campsite photos website to see if your potential spot has trees and brushes.

2nd time camping here in the last year and a half. Peaceful walking trails, clean campsites, Full hook ups, Camp store, Camp café and easy check-in. We have no complaints and will definitely return!

Pretty good for the price of staying a night. We were at campground B with full hookups. Nice surrounding with nature. Short distance walk to the lake and playground.

Decent campground. It was extremely busy for being an off season. The campsites are pretty close together and it's loud. We stayed in the full hook up side and it was much louder than expected. Friendly staff and helpful. We did like the large kids playground, it is a bit chaotic and order kids did take over at one point. Camp sites are walking distance to the lake, and the area provided great views of the hot air balloons in the morning. I suggest staying on the outer campsites as those will provide a bit more space and less neighbors. Gave it a 3 because it was definitely one of the louder placed we've been to. Also the app they have for getting kids involved is an app and nothing that really allows for getting away from technology.

Lake Skinner; can't go in but super pretty

Super fun campground for everyone! There are tons of bike trails, big sites, beautiful lake, and of course the splash pad. We were in Area C Site 367 in August. It was crazy hot, but the splash pad was heaven. Be prepared for lots of dust and dirt, but that's what camping is all about. We'll definitely be visiting again.

This is what I call "suburban camping." It's like being in suburbia but everyone is in tents and RVs. There's not a lot of privacy and it's loud. It's friendly family but there are people partying late into the night. There was someone puking repeatedly in a campsite two over and in the one next to us they were getting it on loudly. Thankfully the kids were asleep and didn't hear either of these things. We stayed in campsite A-118 in a tent. This is the best section out of the A's and B's. The first row of the A's has the most room and the most shade. Plus a grassy field with trees right in front of the campsites which was nice for picnic style meals. The site next to us A-119 seems to be the best tent camping spot there. It was hot (90's) during the day but cool at night and in the morning. Thankfully there is a splash pad a short drive down to beat the heat. We went in the 3rd week of September. There are playgrounds but no cover so they are too hot during the day. We have a toddler and the playground was a little too big for her anyway. She loved the splash pad. We wound up not going fishing but did drive down to the lake. It looks ok. You can't swim but can fish or boat because it's a domestic reservoir. There is hiking as well but watch out for rattlesnakes. We could hear them in the bushes. The bathrooms were pretty clean for a camp bathroom but the soap wasn't working. We didn't use the showers. Overall, it's a nice getaway for 1-2 days but wouldn't be our top pick for a camping vacation.

So much to explore for one doggie

What a beautiful place to escape and get away from it all! Even the drive there is fun, seeing all the beautiful wineries and limos along the way. Then you arrive at a serene green filled valley where everything is quiet and tranquil. This campground is really nice. There are three areas A B C with hot and cold running water hookups. YAY. Fire pits and doggies can come too! The lake is walking distance with trails, and tons of areas to explore. There is a general store where they sell camping needs and ICEES on a hot day. They have a splash area for the kids but its closed seasonally. The only noise was birds, and the occasional kid or truck going by. My kind of place. I layed in the grass for an hour not moving after an hour hike, while doggy and the kids ran around me. It was heavenly.

Does the campgrounds have a section for tents? How is cell phone service?

I only saw mixed sites. There may be some tent only sites at the group sites, otherwise mostly mixed site. We're were in between mostly trailers.

First impression, this place is visually dialed in. The lake, waterfall, oak trees, and overall layout give it a boutique campground feel you don't usually get this close to Temecula. It feels more like a curated outdoor resort than a rough-it campsite. You're minutes from wineries, but once you're inside, it actually feels tucked away. Where it really shines is family-friendly activity level. This is not sit-in-silence camping. You've got swimming, paddleboards, fishing, pickleball, and a beach-style setup that keeps kids busy all day. If you're bringing family, especially younger kids, this place delivers. The staff consistently gets high marks, and that shows up in real-world experience. People mention they're helpful, friendly, and actually engaged, which is rarer than it should be. The Reality Check: "This is where expectations matter." * Not a quiet nature escape This is more "social campground" than "off-grid retreat." Expect kids, music, movement. If you want silence, this isn't it. * Tent sites can be hit or miss Some are close to the road, so you'll get dust and traffic noise. That breaks the illusion pretty quickly. * Still evolving The place is clearly being upgraded. Some areas feel polished, others still feel mid-renovation. Bathrooms and infrastructure can be inconsistent depending on timing. * More "fun zone" than wilderness Think lake day with camping attached, not deep nature immersion. What It Really Is: This is a hybrid between a campground and a low-key outdoor resort. Great for: Families, casual campers, wine country weekends, group trips Not ideal for: Hardcore campers, solitude seekers, or anyone expecting national park-level quiet Bottom Line: If you go in expecting a polished, activity-driven campground with a great setting, you'll probably love it. If you're chasing peace, silence, and raw nature, you'll leave wondering what the hype was about.

We stayed in an older more developed part of the campground and it was semi ok. Sites were tight but clean. Had all the hookups and a fire pit. But it was loud. Neighbors across from us in the center portion of the section were obnoxiously loud. We could hear their conversations clearly because they were yelling across camp sites (they were a group traveling together.) And I'm all for fun, but show a little courtesy. And one night, they illuminated the entire campground with what can be only described as the sun. It's the brightest light I ever seen. It was stronger than movie studio lights and they had it raised high on a pole so it shown down on the entire area. It's the first time I almost went to another camp site and told someone off. Our site was at the base of a hill and you could see our shadows against the hill the light was so bright. I had to move our car to block the light. I ended up not going over to their site and they finally turned it off. Unreal. Then the music from the restraint area was blaring until 10p. Electric bikes and golf carts were everywhere as well. It's a huge campground so I get people need them but they're a little dangerous in the evening. The bathroom stalls were flooded and the showers had holes in the walls and were very run down. I had great time with my wife and our dogs, plus we had nice neighbors on either side which was good, but I don't think we'll be back. For the money there are better options. I'd suggest this KOA fix up the bathrooms and put some courtesy rules in place. I still can't believe those people with light.

There's a dog park, a dog washing station, a laundry room, showers, a pool, picnic areas and hook ups for water, electricity and sewage. I felt at ease. I couldn't wait to come back... Unfortunately things changed and broke my heart. My suv was experiencing power steering issues so security was kind enough to allow my partner and I to gather up some items at auto zone and work on our car in an empty area of the Pala parking lot. As my partner was finishing up, I told him we may as well just pay for another night at the rv resort so we could use their showers because he was covered in sweat and car fluids. I walked over there and spoke to the nice young girl I had communicated with earlier and told her I'd like to reserve another night and I'm happy to pay (my stay was comp'd due to my player status at Pala Casino). Her reply was "I understand but unfortunately your RV is not allowed to be at our resort anymore. We cannot accept it. The photos you submitted were not the same as what we saw in person." See, I had to get my RV approved to even be allowed before I arrived because of the year (1998). I sent in good pictures of course with great angles... I want the vehicle to look as nice as possible. It was the motorhome version of "you can't sit with us" from mean girls. I was stunned. I'm still stunned. We fit in with every other person there at the resort. I'm sorry our motor home wasn't 6 figures. But it's not an eye sore by any means. It's just not a crazy luxury one like the others that surrounded us. I mean, one of the neighbors admitted his vehicle was $400k+ and invited us to come in and look around. It looked like the Taj Mahal without exaggeration. I know my face fell and I simply replied "...oh..". The girl then goes "I see your stay was a casino comp, can't you go to the hotel?" I was mortified. I just said "yeah... I guess." And I walked away. And I cried. Apparently because my RV isn't brand new and expensive, I am undeserving of a nice, comfortable place that feels like a second home to visit with my loved ones and our humble motorhome. Weeks pass and after my partner spoke to the manager, she let him know that two things needed to be fixed on our Class A: the awnings and the apparent unsightly what appeared to be small areas of "rust" towards the top of the RV. We went ahead and removed those issues. I proceeded to attempt to book a few nights there and I received a response stating that although they appreciate us fixing the cosmetic issues, now apparently we are told from our last visit, either the RV or my Mercedes SUV left a, once again, unsightly oil or liquid substance behind on the pad where we were parked. And I quote, "To stay at the Pala RV Resort, all vehicles must be well maintained and in good running condition. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate a stay at this time". Honestly, I don't know why I continue to become shocked by the types of responses I receive from this place. I don't know what kind of training they're given but the elitest vibe and the "you guys aren't good enough" attitude shot back at adults who are just trying to find a comfortable, safe and pleasant area to reside for a few days in our motor home along with our sweet dogs is just so unnecessarily rude, cruel and demeaning. Is the upscale reputation being upheld far more important than respect, kindness and a helpful, welcoming vantage point? In conclusion, as long as your trailer or motor vehicle is pristine, less than 20 years old and you are upper middle, upper class or better yet, a one percenter, this place is PERFECT for you, all your needs will be met, respect will be given to the utmost degree. If you are anything less than that, go find yourself a spot in a Walmart parking lot or the bureau of land management because you won't have a place for yourself here... well, you may get a "pass" for a stay but then you'll be reminded how unworthy you are to be in "such a high standard establishment." Above offended and angry, I'm hurt, upset and appalled by the way this has been handled. Thinking of these interactions actually gives me a great discomfort in my stomach and it's a shame.

I love camping! If I could live in a certain way of life, camping would be it! But this was a…read morecamping experience to remember! The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

We booked a site with just the basics--electrical and water hookups--for only $50, which was all we needed for our tiny camper. The campground was clean, well-organized, and had plenty of open sites with different options and amenities, including a camp store for convenience. Some of our favorite spots were the splash pad and the playgrounds--perfect for keeping the kids entertained. Even if you just come for the day, these areas alone make it worth the trip. The kids had a blast, and it was wonderful seeing so many other families enjoying themselves too. Since we had their friend with us, we left around 8 PM to drop him back home--only about a 20-minute drive to Murrieta--then returned to the campsite, played a few games in the camper, and settled in for the night. With a 6 AM wake-up, we still made it home in time to freshen up, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready for school. (We even packed their backpacks just in case we needed to go straight from camp!) My boys haven't stopped talking about the trip--how much fun they had, how exciting it was to sleep overnight, and how much they want to go back. As a retired Navy Chief (41 years old) now balancing a busy real estate career, this is exactly how I want to spend my free time--unplugging, connecting with nature, and making lasting memories with my kids. Affordable, family-friendly, and packed with fun--Lake Skinner has definitely earned a spot on our repeat list. We can't wait to do it again!
