I met McKenzie by running into her shop ten minutes before closing time, racing over after work to get my broken glasses repaired. i was fully prepared to pay the repair fee posted on the website- she insisted it wasn't that big of a fix and wanted to do it for free. When I insisted on paying, she charged me $3. I have gone back several times for glasses fittings and repairs and she never charges. Most recently I came in with a bunch of glasses to see how different they were from the new script I received from the eye doctor . She so kindly tested every single one. I was prepared to finally pay her for her kindness by buying a pair of sunglasses or at least sunglass lenses, and she acted with the most integrity I have seen from a business owner in ages. She said that despite none of the prescriptions being the exact same there was one pair of sunglasses that were close enough that for sunglasses which are more forgiving I wouldn't notice a difference and that if she were me she wouldn't bother buying new ones. She absolutely could have sold me a pair of sunglasses- it was again right at closing time and instead she helped me out and did not charge a penny. I don't know how she stays in business but I am so glad she is. I think its worth the cost to go somewhere that is doing it right. The prices are high because her costs are high- she has what is likely a razor thin margin. Unfortunately because she does not have an optometrist or ophthalmologist on staff she can't bill insurance, but for those without vision insurance or looking for an extra pair etc- I would highly recommend Capital Eyes/ McKenzie and her adorable shop puppy. 10/10 service, a decent selection and she is so great at making recommendations (she had customers buying glasses the last time I went in so I got to watch her in action).

My appointment was to pick out frames as I had received a prescription earlier this year from a different eye care company. I have NEVER had an experience like this. Deliah sat me down, asked what I liked -shape, colors, etc - asked if I had any photos and started getting to work. She chose frames that would compliment my bone structure, colors that compliment my eye color, skin color and hair color. The first pair she brought out I thought "oh these are the ONES" then she brought out another and another and I loved every single one of them! I ended up buying two pairs. One for the spring/summer and one for the fall/winter. I regret nothing! I had been going to an eye care place in tacoma for the past 19 years and never had an experience like this. I only remember ever picking out 2 frames in the entire 19 years of going there that I loved. Every other time I was just picking the "best" out of what they had. That's why I ultimately started shopping around elsewhere bc I wanted to LOVE my glasses, not just settle for a pair and count down the days until I could get a new pair. I've been going to Clarus since I moved to Olympia12 years ago. The care was decent at first (I had…read morea history of a retina condition, so they would schedule me with an ophthalmologist for my routine exams) but in recent years I noticed they make no attempt whatsoever at continuity of care, they just schedule you with a random provider. Two visits ago, they had the radio playing in the waiting room. Reception was terrible, mostly static, and I asked the receptionist to turn it off or re-tune it. She told me she "wasn't allowed" to touch the radio. So I mentioned it to the tech when she called me back. She looked at me like I was nuts, offering helpfully, "I just tune that out". Last visit, the optometrist was using a scribe, and she dictated a term to him that was unfamiliar to me. I interrupted her to ask her what it meant, and she acted annoyed and told me to " save (my) questions for later". Of course, later never came. Last week, I called and was offered an appointment over 2 months out. The only time available was 7:45 am. I appreciate they are open extended hours to accommodate more patients, but I decided to get a referral from McKenzie at Capital Eye (by the Fred Meyer in Lacey). She recommended an optometrist only group in Tumwater. I saw them this morning and the experience was 180 degrees--nice office, up to date equipment, good bedside manner etc. The only reason I give Clarus 2 stars is they do have ophthalmologists. So if you do need cataract or retina surgery or something like that, it might be a place to consider. And oh yeah, they do have nice frames and the gal who helped me pick out my last pair listened carefully to what I wanted and helped me pick out a better pair than I would have chosen for myself.

I recently moved to the area about a month ago, and having this Costco Wholesale just two blocks…read moreaway has been incredibly convenient--I absolutely love it. This location has a gas station, which is always a huge plus, although like most Costco locations, it tends to be busy. The parking lot fills up quickly, so I usually save myself the stress and park near the back. Shopping inside can get a bit overwhelming at times, especially when it's crowded and people tend to stop in the middle of aisles to browse or chat. Regardless, I would say that most shoppers are polite, and the overall atmosphere is still pleasant. I appreciate the variety of items available--there are some staples I can always count on, while others seem to rotate or be limited. Buying in bulk at reasonable prices is definitely a win. One thing I found funny is that the layout here feels like a flip-flopped version of the Costco I used to visit on Exposition in California. It's organized similarly enough that I've been able to find what I need pretty quickly after just a few visits. My only small disappointment is that they don't carry the caramel flavor of the Premier Protein shakes I love--but that's a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things. Customer service has been great overall though. Whether it's regular checkout or self-checkout, employees are friendly and helpful. Sometimes they even pre-scan items in your cart to speed things up, so by the time you get to checkout, you can leave all your items in your cart, scan your membership card, and just pay for all the items that were pre-scanned without having to place them on the conveyer. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. We also had questions about using our Costco rewards, and the staff at the membership counter were super helpful in walking us through the process. The food court is another bonus--we ordered a whole pizza once, and I love how easy it is to use the kiosks. They call out order numbers instead of making people line up, which honestly works so much better given how crowded the food court area usually gets at every Costco. Overall, it's been a really positive shopping experience, and I will definitely be a frequent regular here.

We always use Costco for fueling our vehicles. We appreciate the top tier quality, and the prices cannot be beat. Costco gas fueling stations offer selections of diesel, unleaded and premium unleaded. Several pumps are available, so don't be discouraged should you see a line, as it moves along quickly. As Costco members, great savings and selections are available inside and online. Purchasing a membership is wise because it pays for itself in gas savings alone.

My initial experience was good. I had a prescription from another OD and needed new progressive…read moretrifocals. I thought it was odd that I needed an appointment just to look at frames and and for someone in the "Optical" department to measure me for new lenses. I needed another appointment to pick up the new ones but did not see well with them and returned them. Someone there (I don't recall who) suggested I come back to have my vision re-checked by Ben Wong. I made another appointment and Dr. Wong issued a different prescription for new lenses. The same person in "Optical" handled the new order and I was not charged for the second go round. I made yet another appointment to pick them up. They seemed okay there in the store. But I could not use them using a computer or just reading. I tried desperately to adjust to them for two weeks, then simply gave up out of frustration. Long story short - the PD (pupillary distance) had been measured incorrectly and I experienced headaches, eye strain, and neck aches during those two weeks. I had not been give a detailed billing statement and asked for one a couple of weeks later. After reviewing the charges, I saw that I had been give bifocals - not the trifocals I had ordered! In addition, the person who assisted me in "Optical" apparently needs professional training. My confidence and trust in their business is completely destroyed. I emailed them three days ago with my complaints and asked for a refund. They thanked me for my concerns and said they would get back to me "when [they] we have more information." I am waiting.

That and when I initially ordered my contacts, I was never asked about insurance. I've never had an experience like this before. It took several emails just to get a refund for the contacts that they stated weren't a part of VSP insurance. Now I'm getting billing for a contact lens fitting that should've been billed properly to VSP. Be wary. I went there because they had an opening. I should have known when all the other places are booked out months in advance. I'll be giving you a call here soon ELO.

I made the mistake of buying my first two pairs of glasses ever with them. I have a special…read moreprescription with prisms. They didn't even measure my optical center to make sure the prisms were in the right spots. They also don't have any clue how to adjust glasses and mine have been mangled by them several times now. They even chipped my lenses while adjusting them and didn't mention it. Today I went to pick up a replacement pair because they had the prism in the wrong locations and I asked the (new) employee for my glasses he tried to give me someone else's.... Then I asked the value of my optical height since it had just been updated. He told me he couldn't tell me as it would "break HIPAA" and that he would have to call his manager....I had him call and suddenly he could tell me me own prescription details. Absolute idiot. Don't buy glasses here, I have to take all mine over to Capital Eyes next door to be fixed/actually adjusted.
