My appointment was confirmed by phone call 2 days prior and I was assured that there would be no issues, and that my insurance would be accepted. Upon entering I was not greeted, I was gawked at and immediately judged. The employee pictured, took one glance at my insurance card and rudely said, WE DON'T TAKE THAT HERE, BUT WE HAVE GOOD DEALS HERE! Nevermind that I had an intial appointment for an eye exam and to be fitted for contacts. She spoke over me, and made condescending comments as I tried to speak. She asked if there was an E in my name 5 times as if to try to get a rise out of me. But I kindly responded in the same kind tone each time I was asked. I tried to explain that I had a confirmed appointment, and that I was told that there wouldn't be an issue with my insurance because it had been accepted for other people who went to this location. Obviously upset I took them back to Lens Crafters where I had purchased them. I didn't feel like I was holding them too tightly but I'm sure it was something that I did on my end rather than it being a manufacturer defect. I already searched online and after reading Ray Bans warranty and entering my case scenario in, the outlook was bleak. I was going to have to pay $$ for a new frame. As I walked in, I was greeted by a woman who I'm assuming is the manager. I explained what had happened and she stated that there was nothing they could do and recommended that I check with the jeweler at the mall to see if they could weld them back together. I think she sensed that I was frustrated or maybe it was divine intervention...either way, she immediately stood up and walked over to the wall of frames. She found my exact frames, walked back to the desk and immediately swapped out the lenses. I asked what I owed her and she told me nothing. I was shocked to say the least. I explained to her that I had been getting a lot of bad news lately and that this was a very big blessing. I asked her if I could at least give her a hug and she agreed. I'm so happy to see that there are still people out there who care about their customers. I will never go to another business again, even if it means I have to pay more. It's the principle of the matter! That you God and God bless this young woman!!

Place was clean and welcoming. The doctor was fast yet efficient which was nice. They have this new technology where they hold up the iPad/tablet to your face with the frames on. It takes your measurements instead of relying solely on self measuring. That way it's accurate, HOW COOL IS THAT! My glasses came in so fast too not the week they had originally given me. My only down side would be not having a hard case or glass cleaner pad when given the glasses. It comes in a baggie and apparently the baggie can be used to clean it as well which didn't quite work for me. Luckily I have an old cleaner that works fine. Would still definitely recommend!

I was in dire need of getting a new pair of glasses as the pair I had broke and I did the "tape…read morejob" on them longer than I should have. Also I knew that I would need to get bifocals which I had some anxiety about because some acquaintances were struggling with theirs that just got them. I made sure to clearly state that I wanted something that did a smooth transition. After a fairly brief examination and a determination of what my current prescription would be I picked out two frames. I was shown the lens options that eased my concerns quite nicely and patiently waited about two weeks for them to arrive. Once they did I went in to try them on and get them fitted. One frame had a scratch that the lady fitting me pointed out on the frame and was something that happened in the lab. I didn't even need to ask as she ordered new ones automatically. Those arrived pretty promptly. I love my new glasses and switch them out throughout the week and getting used to the bifocals was not as much of a struggle as I thought it would be. Everything was handled quite well and I look forward to going back another time. A very good experience!

Every minute I was here was well spent, and I walked away with a corrected eyeglass and contact prescription (a previous store overcorrected my eyes). The manager looked at my insurance with me to make sure I was getting the best deal possible (I had to choose between using my insurance for my glasses or contacts). The plus side is the eye care is beneficial if you wear contacts because as I look around the contacts fitting exam can be very expensive so this works for me at the moment. It can take awhile to see the doctor even if you make an appointment. I recommend not having any other plans to do because this place takes awhile for eye exam. The doctor here is very good and provides a wealth of insight to help take care of eyes. Overall I feel satisfied with America's Best. So if you visit here plan to be here for about an hour or more if you have an appointment . You will need a book, phone or a crochet project and a snack.

Tacoma Family Eyecare is located in the optical section of the Tacoma Costco (37th Street). They…read morehave appointment booking capability from their website, however, I was already at Costco when I decided to pop in to make a new patient appointment. They were able to get me in within the same week! The receptionist was helpful and friendly, with the ability to answer my questions regarding insurance and what the eye exam entailed. I opted for an appointment that would give me both my glasses and contact prescription. The day of my appointment, I filled out a quick questionnaire to establish my care as a patient, and one of their techs performed the initial eye exam ($40 out of pocket, covered by certain insurances, but a very important eye exam as it checks your eye health). Dr. Kathy Kim was the optometrist I saw the day of my appointment. She began with asking if I had my glasses with me ('dOh, I forgot to bring them!) but I was able to tell her the power of each eye from a prescription from 1.5 years ago before I moved to Tacoma. Th usual eye exam commenced, with having to read the letters with one eye, and then the other. Dr. Kim mentioned the slight astigmatism that I've heard I've had for a while, but hadn't been corrected by other optometrists/ophthalmologists. She gave me the option to do the regular contacts I was accustomed to, but also suggested trying toric contact lenses to adjust for the astigmatism. Dr. Kim explained that these type of lenses would reduce squinting, and help with driving at night, reducing glare. Her receptionist was able to give me trials for both the regular contacts with my updated prescription (same day), and ordered trial torics which came in several days later. What I loved about Dr. Kim was her demeanor. She was professional, and able to build a great rapport during the quick 15 minute exam! She allowed me to look at the eye health screen (your vision is priceless, it's worth the $40!) and let me know that they have a 90 day follow up policy to have the lenses adjusted, should I not love the trials before ordering my contact supply. 5/5 highly recommend! (P.S. I don't believe you need a Costco membership to utilize this clinic in Costco).
