They were able to get me in within the same week! The receptionist was helpful and friendly, with the ability to answer my questions regarding insurance and what the eye exam entailed. I opted for an appointment that would give me both my glasses and contact prescription. The day of my appointment, I filled out a quick questionnaire to establish my care as a patient, and one of their techs performed the initial eye exam ($40 out of pocket, covered by certain insurances, but a very important eye exam as it checks your eye health). Dr. Kathy Kim was the optometrist I saw the day of my appointment. She began with asking if I had my glasses with me ('dOh, I forgot to bring them!) but I was able to tell her the power of each eye from a prescription from 1.5 years ago before I moved to Tacoma. Th usual eye exam commenced, with having to read the letters with one eye, and then the other. Dr. Kim mentioned the slight astigmatism that I've heard I've had for a while, but hadn't been corrected by other optometrists/ophthalmologists. She gave me the option to do the regular contacts I was accustomed to, but also suggested trying toric contact lenses to adjust for the astigmatism. Dr. Kim explained that these type of lenses would reduce squinting, and help with driving at night, reducing glare. Her receptionist was able to give me trials for both the regular contacts with my updated prescription (same day), and ordered trial torics which came in several days later. What I loved about Dr. Kim was her demeanor. She was professional, and able to build a great rapport during the quick 15 minute exam! She allowed me to look at the eye health screen (your vision is priceless, it's worth the $40!) and let me know that they have a 90 day follow up policy to have the lenses adjusted, should I not love the trials before ordering my contact supply. 5/5 highly recommend! (P.S. I don't believe you need a Costco membership to utilize this clinic in Costco).

I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience here. One of the most frustrating parts is that…read morethere's no clear way to contact the office besides calling the front desk--no email or direct way to address concerns. About a month ago, I called ahead specifically to ask if they could put prescription lenses into my Meta glasses. I was told yes, but that I'd need to schedule an eye exam first. I waited a full month for that appointment, came in today, went through the entire exam process, and only at the very end was I told they could not put lenses in my frames because I didn't purchase them there. This was especially confusing because I've brought in my own frames before and had lenses put in without any issue. I was then told they would be able to help if I had purchased Meta glasses directly through them, which felt inconsistent and frustrating. I did everything right on my end--I called ahead, asked questions, confirmed pricing, and came prepared. In the end, I used my yearly insurance benefit on an appointment that didn't meet my needs and walked out with nothing. It felt like a complete waste of time. Because of this experience, we'll be finding a new eye care provider. The lack of clear communication and consistency just doesn't work for me.

Our pediatrician recommended we take him to a legit optometrist place (and not just a large chain) to get him correctly examined. I found Family EyeCare Associates on Yelp and so glad I did! Check-in was simple and easy and all the front desk ladies working that morning absolutely loved my son and were great with him. During his exam, the eye care assistants (not sure what they are officially called, sorry!) were great with him and his five year old energy and silliness during the exam as well. We ended up seeing Dr. Pincock who was really kind and great with my son as well. He was super thorough in his exam with my son and made him really comfortable with every step of the process. We were able to find out that my son really was in need of glasses, and out the door (after insurance) for his exam and fancy bendable glasses, it was only $80! So glad to have discovered this spot and we'll continue to make them our primary eye care office.

Then, I decided I would still see Dr. Kvamme and the clinic staff didn't pay attention and booked me with the wrong doctor...Kvamme isn't even in the clinic on the day they scheduled me. They had ALL the previous text messages to know who I wanted to see and still got it wrong. They clearly didn't even look at my record to see who to schedule me with. I got up early to be on time, only to leave. Beyond disappointed. The staff is sloppy and completely unprofessional. Don't go here.
