I am a nurse practitioner myself and did a lot of research before deciding upon Visian lens surgery…read moreas I was not a candidate for less invasive procedures. I wanted to make sure the surgeon I visited had a breath of experience and training. After the experience I can truly saw I was impressed from my initial consult all the way through surgery and after. Dr Patel does fantastic work he is great at communicating, has a wonderful bedside manner and an amazing team of support staff. I wake up daily amazed that I can now read the clock across the room without glasses or contacts! I was so impressed with the operation aspect of the business, the entire staff is friendly, communicative, professional and values your time, investment and confidentiality.

I saw Dr Niraj Patel at Pacific Northwest Eye Associates for correction of cataracts. At that…read morefirst consultation, after the exam and the doctor's assessment, I started to ask a question when Dr Patel interrupted me saying: "I've only done about 20,000 of these. But go ahead, ask your question." As if I was offending him by having concerns. As if by asking questions I was somehow challenging his expertise, rather than acknowledging it. As if this wasn't exactly the right time and place to ask questions. A bit shocked by his dismissive comment, i initially thought I should simply leave and find a different doctor. Then I thought about the weeks I had to wait just to get this appointment, and starting that process all over again, and I swallowed my pride and simply responded, "No, never-mind." But I also knew then that I would eventually write a review in which I told prospective patients this story, in case anyone preferred not to be disregarded in this way. To be fair, I am pleased with the results of my surgery. I had researched Dr Patel and never doubted his skills. But I was offended by his manner at that initial consult and believe that patients deserve to be treated better.

Dec. 9, 2020 - I called prior to my appointment to ask about their protocols during the height of…read morethe pandemic and was told, "We are following the CDC guidelines." I was concerned when I arrived and saw two techs wearing face shields, but no masks. The technician who performed my intake was wearing such a shield without masks. When I asked her about it, she said she was getting over pneumonia and was having trouble breathing with a mask on. I became doubly concerned at this point, since I am in a very high risk category. QUOTE FROM CDC WEBSITE: "CDC does not recommend using face shields or goggles as a substitute for masks. Face shields and goggles are primarily used to protect the eyes of the person wearing it. Face shields have large gaps below and alongside the face, where your respiratory droplets may escape and reach others around you." Dr. Geissler entered the room (50 minutes late - even though I was supposed to be the first appt. of the morning) and was wearing a mask. He was speaking to me throughout the exam while in very close proximity. At one point, I noticed that his mask was not covering his nose and I brought it to his attention. He said that he does that purposely because his glasses fog up when he wears the mask over his nose! This is not in compliance with CDC guidelines. THE CDC GUIDELINES STATE: * Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 * Wear a mask in public settings when around people who don't live in your household, especially when it may be difficult for you to stay six feet apart. * Wear a mask correctly for maximum protection. I suggested that he try using a thin piece of hypoallergenic surgical tape across the top of the mask under the eyes & over the bridge of the nose. This is what I did for my appointment, so that I could be examined without fogging my glasses or their equipment. He responded that he's sensitive to tape and can't use it. My husband told me on the way home, "I'll put that on your tombstone: At Least His Glasses Didn't Fog Up."

If I could give negative stars I would. Totally worthless. He kept saying " In the interest of…read moretime" Like was holding him up after only 5-10 minutes, and he did most of the talking. He was so worried about time , I had to stop him and force him to listen to me. It's like my dry eye wasn't important enough to him. I FINALLY found an ophthalmologist that would treat my condition. This doc needs to slow down and LISTEN to his patients! ( I'm also in the medical field and I know how patients should be treated, and he need more bedside manner classes.

After so…read moremany years trying so many specialists, I've finally found a reliable, professional staff in a spacious facility who kindly "made room for me" when my former vision provider claimed I had cancelled my appointment and could not be seen for six weeks. In six weeks I will be cruising on the canals in France! Every day leading up to this holiday had been carefully planned (including that important eye procedure). So pleased Dr. Castillo and Eye MDs of Puget Sound stepped in to make the beautiful scenery ahead so much clearer to see. Au revoir!

Unprofessional and another doctor not taking women seriously. He waited until the end of my…read moreappointment to tell me he can't test me for what my doctor sent the referral for in the first place. I was told I'm too young to need reading glasses but too old to be diagnosed with a different vision disorder because it's "usually" diagnosed in childhood. He was acknowledging that there is something wrong but then said I'm fine. My primary doctor believes I have a vision problem (the whole point of the referral) but because i didn't have access for proper exams as a kid, I was dismissed. I told him I avoid driving because my eyes can't focus, that I wear prescription reading glasses, prescription sunglasses I wear in stores, and prescription polarized sunglasses, because I'm extremely light sensitive. After I explained my symptoms in more detail, he agreed to write me a referral to a pediatrician. When the staff called to schedule my appointment they confirmed they were testing for what the referral said and my intake form had it written clearly on the top of the first page. During the appointment he suggested I try eye drops and offered to give me a different eye prescriptions, despite me telling him I'm already being treated for dry eyes and just got a new eye prescription three months ago.
