Dr Patel does fantastic work he is great at communicating, has a wonderful bedside manner and an amazing team of support staff. I was so impressed with the operation aspect of the business, the entire staff is friendly, communicative, professional and values your time, investment and confidentiality.

But go ahead, ask your question." As if I was offending him by having concerns. As if by asking questions I was somehow challenging his expertise, rather than acknowledging it. As if this wasn't exactly the right time and place to ask questions. A bit shocked by his dismissive comment, i initially thought I should simply leave and find a different doctor. Then I thought about the weeks I had to wait just to get this appointment, and starting that process all over again, and I swallowed my pride and simply responded, "No, never-mind." But I also knew then that I would eventually write a review in which I told prospective patients this story, in case anyone preferred not to be disregarded in this way. To be fair, I am pleased with the results of my surgery. I had researched Dr Patel and never doubted his skills. But I was offended by his manner at that initial consult and believe that patients deserve to be treated better.

I was told I'm too young to need reading glasses but too old to be diagnosed with a different vision disorder because it's "usually" diagnosed in childhood. He was acknowledging that there is something wrong but then said I'm fine. My primary doctor believes I have a vision problem (the whole point of the referral) but because i didn't have access for proper exams as a kid, I was dismissed. I told him I avoid driving because my eyes can't focus, that I wear prescription reading glasses, prescription sunglasses I wear in stores, and prescription polarized sunglasses, because I'm extremely light sensitive. After I explained my symptoms in more detail, he agreed to write me a referral to a pediatrician. When the staff called to schedule my appointment they confirmed they were testing for what the referral said and my intake form had it written clearly on the top of the first page. During the appointment he suggested I try eye drops and offered to give me a different eye prescriptions, despite me telling him I'm already being treated for dry eyes and just got a new eye prescription three months ago.

The office staff, the nurses, the surgeon were all friendly, competent and professional. Highly recommended.

Dec. 9, 2020 - I called prior to my appointment to ask about their protocols during the height of…read morethe pandemic and was told, "We are following the CDC guidelines." I was concerned when I arrived and saw two techs wearing face shields, but no masks. The technician who performed my intake was wearing such a shield without masks. When I asked her about it, she said she was getting over pneumonia and was having trouble breathing with a mask on. I became doubly concerned at this point, since I am in a very high risk category. QUOTE FROM CDC WEBSITE: "CDC does not recommend using face shields or goggles as a substitute for masks. Face shields and goggles are primarily used to protect the eyes of the person wearing it. Face shields have large gaps below and alongside the face, where your respiratory droplets may escape and reach others around you." Dr. Geissler entered the room (50 minutes late - even though I was supposed to be the first appt. of the morning) and was wearing a mask. He was speaking to me throughout the exam while in very close proximity. At one point, I noticed that his mask was not covering his nose and I brought it to his attention. He said that he does that purposely because his glasses fog up when he wears the mask over his nose! This is not in compliance with CDC guidelines. THE CDC GUIDELINES STATE: * Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 * Wear a mask in public settings when around people who don't live in your household, especially when it may be difficult for you to stay six feet apart. * Wear a mask correctly for maximum protection. I suggested that he try using a thin piece of hypoallergenic surgical tape across the top of the mask under the eyes & over the bridge of the nose. This is what I did for my appointment, so that I could be examined without fogging my glasses or their equipment. He responded that he's sensitive to tape and can't use it. My husband told me on the way home, "I'll put that on your tombstone: At Least His Glasses Didn't Fog Up."

If I could give negative stars I would. Totally worthless. He kept saying " In the interest of…read moretime" Like was holding him up after only 5-10 minutes, and he did most of the talking. He was so worried about time , I had to stop him and force him to listen to me. It's like my dry eye wasn't important enough to him. I FINALLY found an ophthalmologist that would treat my condition. This doc needs to slow down and LISTEN to his patients! ( I'm also in the medical field and I know how patients should be treated, and he need more bedside manner classes.

This is still an unpleasant work in progress…read more I am 68 and went to get my eyes checked for the purpose of getting new glasses, as well as to get a new driver's license. It has-been 6 years and the state requires you to take an eye exam when renewing your license after 65. During the exam, it was found that I had cataract. I am also actively looking for part time work and need a car. This was on 10/14. My license expires on 1/26./2026. My plan is UHC (Medicare Advantage) and no matter who you contact, the very first thing they do is check your insurance. Getting glasses was a special rider in my plan. Lasik surgery is Medicare and that has different requirements. Evergreen knows these requirements. I make an appointment for 10/30. I explained the circumstances and the need for timeliness. Everything seems OK. I ask if there is anything they need. They say no and the waiting begins. On 10/23, I get a text from their insurance person. I need a referral from my PCP. What referral? Why wasn't I told this when I made the appointment. This was my 5th PCP in 7 years. (they all left for one reason or another) and I have not seen the new person yet. Mind you, this was discussed when I made the appointment. Can you talk with him please? Should I change my appointment? I do not work in scheduling. I arrange everything. I contact the PCP. I forward the information back to their insurance person, heart nothing from anyone and went for my appointment on 10/30. Where is your referral? What referral? All information was sent to your insurance person. I have a text. Would you like to see proof? I even asked if I should change my appointment. Where is the referral? You tell me? You want to pay out of pocket? If not, then leave. Mind you, this is a situation that they, themselves created. Yes, I got angry and yes, I was thrown out. Now began the song and dance with the PCP, his organization and UHC. For the next week I went through this horrific approval process that I would not wish on my worst enemy.;a situation that could have been easily avoided if Evergreen was direct from the start Back and forth, forth and back, as well as multiple visits to my PCP's office...to then be told by UHC that I should not have been involved with this at all. Made another appointment for 11/14. Same song and dance. Can you do it in time? Yes, Can I schedule surgery now? No, but it will be done. I go through the exam, take measurements, meet the doctor, go over yet again my needs. Can we schedule the surgery now? No, we will get back after final approval. They call a few days later. Surgery cannot be done until mid January.. Why? Why tell me a lie? Why tell me you can do it? Come 12/03 and we will discuss everything. Why wait until 12/03? Tell me now. Check your other offices. I need the surgery ASAP. Now comes the caveat. This is Medicare open enrollment period I was thinking of changing my insurance. Now I cannot. In addition, even if I stay with the plan, because it is a new year, everything goes back to zero, including deductibles. I wanted to avoid this and explained that to Evergreen as well. So not only did I throw myself out of their office, I incurred greater cost upon myself. Even when you ask and have written proof, you are made responsible for what they do. Who knows. According to UHC, it is supposed to be covered 100%, but there are ways around this. For Evergreen, this is a game. Why should they care. UHC tells me that if I wanted to change providers, then I have to start the referral process over again. I will still need glasses after the surgery. I even asked if I could forego surgery for now, get glasses and wait two years. No! I still have no answer, but clearly, only I am responsible, even if I ask everything up front. I threw myself out. I clearly ask stupid questions. I wanted my license to expire. I wanted to payt more for no reason at all. Mind you, if it was just glasses, then I would have them now, as well as my new license., Instead, I am put in a situation where I have no control, yet told everything I want to hear until I heard everything I do not. It does not matter what you ask or even if you have proof. There is no need for this, yet it happens all the time in our medical system. They embrace this type of subterfuge and blame you for your own expectations. Worse, it is designed to wear you out. Ever when you ask, it has no meaning in this world. I do not know what is going to happen. I do not expect anything good on 12/03. I have no reason to. Just more needless, careless problems that did not have to be.
