Not only was I extremely nearsighted, but i had a strong astigmatism and early on-set of cataract, in each eye. Dr. Sullivan performed cataract extraction, with trifocal lens implant surgery, on each of my eyes, and now, at the age of 59, I no longer need the corrective lenses I had needed since I was 5 years old. Because of his knowledge, experience and surgical skill, he made me feel comfortable, throughout the process. With an easy, gentle sense of humor, he was able to communicate complex ideas in simple, layman terms, while making the experience enjoyable. I went in to Sightline for an inflamed eye condition I was having over three days and started to…read morereally bother me, only after being referred by my Franciscan nurse practitioner to see Dr. Preston Sullivan. The office was clean and organized, and the process was smooth to be seen. When the exam started I noticed he would criticize his other assistants to the attending assistant in front of me and that was uncomfortable, and that would be a clue to what transpired later... I just felt it was unprofessional to talk like that about his crew in front of a patient. He seemed to have had an issue with one of the assistants that did not come in and stay, but rather left. Then he told the attending assistant to go out and get her and bring her back in. So that was awkward. ... Regarding the diagnosis, He couldn't figure out exactly why I had inflammation, after all the tests that lasted an hour.. so I just got eye drops prescribed, and even that didn't go through Costco because of a Sightline app. I'm supposed to access. But here's what really creeped me out ... halfway through the exam. The doctor is asking me "where are you from?", "where are you originally from?" and "when I came to the United States ? He then asks his staff to calculate the timeline on the computer to figure out my exact date of arrival in the US, and he asked me if it was 1989 ? " ... just weird kind of questioning that has nothing to do with the medical procedure I was seeking . ... it's like he was racially profiling me and targeting my accent. Such questions have no purpose or function during an urgent medical exam and it really offended me by the way he behaved. My focus was the pain and inflammation in my eye and here he's doing an ethnic profile of his patient because he thinks he's some vigilante ? ... so that totally turned me off. Needless to say I'm never going back again. I'm also going to have a talk with my nurse practitioner at Franciscan for referring me to him. Highly not recommended by me !

Before scheduling our first visit in December 2024, we carefully researched local cataract surgery options and Dr. Niraj Patel. We selected Dr. Patel based on his experience.The process to secure that initial appointment took two months. We believe Dr. Patel is a skilled ophthalmologist and surgeon. That said, we both felt pressured at the first exam with him to opt for the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), a $4,500 per-eye ($9,000 total) upgrade not covered by Medicare or our secondary insurance. The clinic prominently promotes this option, which likely benefits its revenue. Despite our optometrists advising against a replacement lens other than "standard," we briefly considered it due to the strong recommendation. This raises concerns about whether other elderly patients might feel similarly pressured. Anyone considering this clinic should thoroughly research the LAL option and discuss it with their optometrist or primary care provider before making a decision. After our exams, we met with the "scheduling coordinator" for Dr. Patel's surgeries. We were informed that due to a backlog, surgery dates would be significantly delayed. We accepted this reality and continued the process. However, communication with the clinic was frustratingly difficult. Getting answers required showing up in person and hoping someone could assist us. Scheduling changes were nearly impossible without being pushed months further down the waitlist. Even urgent non-elective medical issues did not seem to influence scheduling flexibility. Patients should be aware of these limitations before committing to the required exam process. This is a business in search of large patient volume and the bottom line. After nearly three months of waiting, we have canceled all future appointments with PNEA. It is too frustrating. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this clinic. Patients should carefully research not only the procedure itself but other local Opthalmology clinic choices, the clinic's billing practices, scheduling and communication policies. We hope others have a smoother experience than we did.

But go ahead, ask your question." As if I was offending him by having concerns. As if by asking questions I was somehow challenging his expertise, rather than acknowledging it. As if this wasn't exactly the right time and place to ask questions. A bit shocked by his dismissive comment, i initially thought I should simply leave and find a different doctor. Then I thought about the weeks I had to wait just to get this appointment, and starting that process all over again, and I swallowed my pride and simply responded, "No, never-mind." But I also knew then that I would eventually write a review in which I told prospective patients this story, in case anyone preferred not to be disregarded in this way. To be fair, I am pleased with the results of my surgery. I had researched Dr Patel and never doubted his skills. But I was offended by his manner at that initial consult and believe that patients deserve to be treated better.

She then said very rudely to "just make sure we pay it!" with a head shake and as if talking down to someone. I said "Why wouldn't we pay it?" The comment hit hard because we are black and have experienced this type of treatment before. we are respected, black, senior people of the community who paid their bills . Once at OEC, after insurance, paid a $50 copay (using the same insurance anywhere else I pay a $20 copay) Dr. Jeffrey Harris saw me. The second he walked in, had a poor attitude. He acted as if I was wasting his time being there as well as told me to keep taking the medication that Urgent Care told me to stop immediately because I was allergic to it. Jeffrey Harris acted arrogant, uncaring, and unprofessional when listening to my description of what was going on with my eyes and what the other actual doctors had suggested. During the visit Harris, ignoring me, did not do anything Urgent Care had not already tried making the visit pointless and a waste of time and money. Worse, when examining my eyes (which had pinkeye meaning tears, and discharge on them) did not wear gloves and had not washed his hands the entire time. Including when touching my eyes, the equipment, pens, the door, or anything else.
