Local staff is good, but billing is terrible. Billing makes mistakes almost every year. Normally we save the receipts, but couldn't find the one this year(Bill sent over six months after the appointment ) when they tried to bill us again for contacts we already paid for via turned in contact credit. Two months of calling/trying to use their web chat...the final reply I got via a call was that they couldn't find the receipt either... So we're stuck paying again. read more

This is interesting......I've posted two reviews critical of Clarkson on 10/15 and 9/11 as I wait helplessly for my order for two pairs of expensive glasses. Over 3 months now. 3 months! After posting a second time yesterday both of my reviews have been taken down evidently - they're gone. I didn't think businesses could take down reviews. Evidently they can. If you need glasses get them somewhere else. There's plenty good opticians out there. Clarkson is not one of them. This is a terrible business. read more

This place has called me 3X in the last few weeks wanting to set up an eye exam for someone that I'm caring for. I had a high end prescription pair of sunglasses that was damaged. The hinge connecting the ear piece was very loose. I did not have an appointment, nor had I been to this location. It was a Saturday and the store was very busy. The reception was friendly, helpful and welcoming to each person who came in. She directed them to the proper area adeptly. The hours are only until 1:00 pm on Saturday. They were efficient and accommodating to all. Ian managed to fit me in and quickly and professionally addressed the issue with the glasses. I highly recommend Clarkson Eyecare for prompt professional care. This location in particular, is outstanding. read more

I had a really good experience at this Clarkson Eyecare getting my annual eye exam and contact lens fitting. Scheduling over the phone was easy because I had my medical and vision insurance info handy. The day of the appointment, I was seen by Dr. Todd Bellamy, who was very efficient and pleasant to talk to! I'm very attached to my brand of biweekly contacts, which are not usually prescribed anymore, but he let me stick with them. The tech who helped me was also able to refer me to a local eyeglass repair shop that could possibly salvage my favorite pair of discontinued frames that I thought my toddler had irreparably broken. Checking out was easy too. They had my contact lenses shipped to my home address so I wouldn't have to come back to pick them up. read more

They mailed me the wrong prescription contacts so I had to go back into the store a week later to then be mailed the correct prescription. They were nice though. read more

Scheduled an appointment so I could stop wearing eyeglasses because of a recent surgery I had. The doctor did not check my eyes for contact lenses which is what I requested when I made the appointment but had someone adjust my glasses. Now I still need the contact lens visit and will have to make another appointment and pay in order to have this done. I'm not happy with having to pay again when this should have been done when I asked for it the first time. read more

They gave me a wrong prescription for my glasses. They suck and want me to pay more money to fix this the fact that they gave me the wrong prescription. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Abysmal customer service. Came in with my husband so that he could order glasses after having his eye exam earlier this week. They were not busy, there were two customers when we entered. We stood for 40 minutes without being helped. There were 5 employees hanging out around the front desk. I heard one ask for a nail file, clearly very attentive to her work. After finishing with one customer, that employee went and joined those standing around. They completely ignored our presence, even after he sat at the computer holding the glasses he wished to purchase. After a guest that entered after us was helped, we asked for assistance and they acted awfully put out. Working in healthcare myself and having worked in retail, the service we were given today was absolutely ridiculous. read more

Do not let them try to use your insurance here or you could end up with a massive bill you didnt expect. All they care about is getting as much money as possible. The office manager didnt care and couldnt be bothered. If you dont want to be ripped off go somewhere that actually cares about their patients. read more

Staff was incredible!! Dr. Bellamy surpassed my expectations by far. He was very thorough and even caught a slight lazy eye (embarrassing but it's fine) that I didn't know I had and other doctors missed. Francis helped me so much as well! I had a lot of questions about the different lense types that were available with my prescription and even went back and forth changing my mind and he still helped! He also helped me narrow down from 10 different pairs of glasses! He was patient, knowledgeable, meticulous, and all around fantastic! read more

Optometrist was friendly and seems to know what he's doing - he didn't scoop out my eyeballs or anything. The selection of glasses was okay, but without many options in stock - what you see is what they've got. So while you could choose to get a frame in another color, it would add another week or two on top of the one to two weeks turnaround. And what really galls me are the prices for glasses. It's not like frames are highly complex and finely tuned pieces of equipment; a few pieces of plastic or metal with a couple hinges. How come I can go to any gas station, convenience store or pharmacy and buy sunglasses for under $20, but the optometrist charges $200-$300 - or more - just for the frames?! read more

went to my appointment on January 28th...was high pressured to take all the "add-on" tests, no doubt a technique taught to the staff to pad the bill. i got my exam...was astounded by the price of the frames, i believe there were 6 under $200...ordered my glasses... it is now march 4th and i'm still waiting for my overpriced glasses to arrive...i was given every excuse for the delay except "my dog ate them", and they haven't given me any clue when my glasses might arrive... i would sooner chew off my foot than go back to the clarkson eye care on ladue road in st louis read more

Clarkson eye care wasn't a good experience, due to my family urgency , I had to reschedule my appointment, I was given 4:30 , and I also was told I could get exam and glasses covered by my insurance. I was at my appointment 10 minutes early at 4:20, the staff told me I missed my appointment. According to them my appointment was at 2:20 which wasn't possible because I would not make my appointment at that time because I had to be with my daughter at hospital at that time. However clarkson Eyecare refused to accept their mistake and asked me to reschedule . Then I was informed I had to pay for the examination and glasses out of pocket which was totally different than what I was told by other staff. To my wonder why staff at clarkson eye care are so careless and not informative. i won't recommend and won't go to clarkson eye care neither my kids nor any of my family members . The office is fast and efficient; great support staff. While he is fast, Dr. Bellamy does take the time to get the minor changes in my prescription right and address to my other eye issues. I brought my old glasses in for adjustments to the frames at my last contact appointment; they did a great job and the adjustments were free!! Two weeks later after I mangled my non-prescription sunglasses they also adjusted those back to normal at no charge!! I just had to take a minute to give them credit for great customer service. I have actually been using this particular location for some time, but for some reason I do not understand on this yearly check up with same services performed as last year my heath insurance was billed instead of my vision insurance. This left me with a balance due which on prior visits with same services performed(and prices had not changed from last year) did not. I questioned them but all they could say was some supposed regulation had changed and they had to bill that way. This is a heads up to all seniors out there ask questions about who they are going to bill for your services ahead of time so you won't get a surprise bill. Also I think that the new company that took over Clarkson Eyecare may have something to do with this billing change. They have just lost a loyal customer. read more
